Property had major bad gaseous/noxious smell in apartment/bedroom
We would not recommend this house at all. It’s actually two separate areas and not connected. When we first arrived we went into front apartment and discovered where was no AC in living area /kitchen and was so hot at 9pm when we arrived we could not sit in there. There were no instructions at house, so we wrote the owner on how to turn on the jacuzzi outside but that was when he told us it didn’t heat. So we decided to go to bed, but when we went to go in the back area where our bedroom was there was a noxious smell that was so strong it was overwhelming we could not stay in there. so we ended up in a very tiny room with twin bed in the front. There was another bedroom where my brother and sister in law were going to sleep, but the light in bathroom didn’t work so we tried to fix that, with no luck. By the time we got ready for bed, we decided we had to leave since one whole area was unusable due to smell. I called Vrbo around 12am to let them know what was going on. Since it was late, we wrote to owner first thing in morning. He said there was no smell and we explained there was indeed a very strong gaseous/noxious smell that was so bad we couldn’t use back apartment. The owner accused us of lying about the smell instead of going to house to see for himself. We drove a long way to get to house that is not near anything, and then had to spend a half a day looking for a place to stay after. We only had 3 days in chania & wasted a day. Do not book this house.
