Huge Stone fireplace and 10 foot beamed ceilings make you feel like you are in an Olde English Manor House which is situated on our peaceful 15 acre farm. Truly a country setting. Living Room with it's huge leather sofa and sheepskin throw, office area including WiFi, sitting areas for tea and conversation, separate dining room with stone wall from the fire place in the living room. Full kitchen and even a sunroom. Bedroom is cozy and comfortable with beamed ceilings and a tapestry used as a shade for the window. One deck on the main level and a balcony on the upper level for night time viewing of the sky. Second floor has 2 bedrooms with queen beds.. A couple could be quite comfortable just using the first floor bedroom, but the entire house can accommodate ten on three queen size beds and two queen air beds. First floor has a 1/2 bath and a full bath, which includes a shower and full tub, on the upper level. If you need even more space, talk to us about renting one or more of the other nearby units.
So much to experience for lasting memories. Experience the night sky, the stars, the Milky Way without light pollution. With the guide book inside your rental, experience a self guided tour to the Stars and beyond! If you want to get closer to the ground, take a self guided walking “scavenger hunt” around the property and learn about the animals, fish, pond and trees. Very informative and thought provoking. Looking for relaxation, make a picnic at the spool tables near the pasture and watch the alpacas, goats and pigs eat and play. Some of them will come right up to the fence and watch you too.
If you have a problem with stairs, this home is probably not for you since you must go upstairs to the full bath and there is even a stone wall around the house where you must walk up a few steps to get to the house. Children under 3 years of age stay free.
If you want to be sure wood for the fireplace is ready and waiting for you, request it before you arrive. It is $25 a bundle which usually lasts an hour or so. Send a request and it will be there waiting for you with instructions if you need them. Also, there is a charcoal grill, bring your own charcoal, but it's always good to let us know before you arrive so it can be ready and waiting for you.

We had a lovely stay at this property. We were able to buy some wonderful goat milk soap from the owner who also shared some of their eggs with us. The owner had also left a scavenger hunt to take you around the property with some fun facts included. The home has a beautiful stone fireplace and everything you could possibly need. It was neat and perfectly clean!

Very quiet, rustic house with tired but functional furnishings. Pictures and descriptions were accurate. Location was ideal for our short visit to the area.

Dear Kathryn, we are so very happy you enjoyed your stay. Yes we pride ourselves on not being your usual run of the mill Hotel. And as you say in your review, we are a rustic unique home which most people find intriguing. Would brand new modern clean lined furniture look appropriate in that beautiful home? We don’t believe so, and we spent a lot of time finding something that would enhance the feeling of both rustic and manorly. Most people find the furnishings and unique antiques synergistic.
We know we are not a world class resort. However, the way Vrbo works is that if you gave us five stars for cleanliness and you gave us five stars for communication and all the things they ask about then we are a five star listing. We say that because we’re confused that you enjoyed everything but still gave us only three stars which as a small operation hurts us a great deal. Please tell us what would be necessary to bring it up to five stars in your opinion. Again, not comparing it to a five star resort, but comparing it to how we advertised it.
Peter and Helen were wonderful hosts. The property was neat and clean. It was great to be able to spend a nice but short weekend here with our pets. The property was perfect for our needs. The location between Shenandoah National Park and Culpeper was perfect. Since Verizon coverage West of Culpeper was non-existent, the house WIFI proved essential for loading maps and directions before setting out for the day.
My friend and I had a great experience staying here as a launching point to hike old rag. The house is very charming and queens and there was a wonderful chocolate maker next-door. The owner is very responsive and helpful.
Great location about 30 min from Shenandoah and about 15 min from downtown Culpeper. The farm itself is very nice. Received lots of great info about the area from the owner and always received prompt responses to my questions. The house is quirky with some eclectic décor.
The whole weekend was great. The house is large and the views are incredible. If you want a nice get away from the hustle-bustle of reality, this is the ticket.
This property was exactly like advertised. The owners were very helpful with all information needed and they are very nice people. This took me and my wife back to the times of summers at her grandparents when we were first married. We will be back again.
Overall good, not very clean, there were dead bugs on the floor and the bed had a mud wasp nest broken up in the sheets

Frankly we’re mystified by your review. There is a possibility of dead bugs. we do check the house out a few hours before check-in and this time of year insects are looking for a warm place. please, you could have called us and we would’ve come and taken care of the problem immediately. the wasp nest is the thing that is totally mystifying!
Wasps only make their nest outside and in the sheets is definitely not a place they do it. could someone have brought it in on their clothes? I know all the sheets were changed just the day before and and a wasp would not have gotten in there or probably even had time to make a nest in there. and… broken up? I just don’t know how that could’ve happened. that seems totally out of the realm of possibility.
However, we’re very sorry that you were disappointed and the next time you come we will definitely give you a discount and some gifts and we totally apologize for the dead bugs on the floor. the other, we just don’t know how something like that could happen unless somebody somehow brought it in, but even that seems very hard to do without knowing it. they make their nests in secluded corners. even if you brought it in on your shoes how would it get into the sheets? it’s a mystifying situation.
Had a lovely time at the Manor House! Very spacious property in a great location for nearby hiking. Short 10m drive from Culpeper. Visited during a winter storm and owner provided kitty litter and a snow shovel to help us get out of the driveway. Bought firewood ($25) and was provided quite a bit for a blaze during the chilly evening. Well stocked kitchen. Would love to stay again!!
This is a quirky old property but they say as much in the listing. It has an interesting layout and decor. We had what we needed but everything is old. The weather was very hot when we were there and we had trouble keeping cool with the window units and it smelled musty. The pond with ducks and geese is pretty and it is a very quiet peaceful location. We enjoyed seeing the animals. Overall, no surprises. The pictures and description are accurate. It wasn't my first choice but all that was available that allowed pets (which I appreciate!!) over a busy 4th of July weekend. I felt like it was pricey for what you get.

Dear Cindra,
Most guest appreciate The work. We went through to find the period pieces both in furniture and decor that we use at the Manor House. Marriott modern furniture just wouldn’t fit in there. It would look out of place. And regarding the mustiness, I think perhaps you mind told your nose to do that because especially since Covid we have been sanitizing the space with an industrial fogger. Believe me nothing could live through that such as mold or anything that creates a musty smell.
At least you enjoyed the animals and the beautiful outdoors.
We had a lovely stay at Helen and Peter's farm. The manor house has a unique historic feel and provides a very relaxing countryside experience. It has a lot of space and bedrooms. The setting is beautiful. We enjoyed the farm animals, the lake and the hospitality of the hosts.

The Manor House worked for my needs perfectly. I was attending a wedding in the area and wanted a nice place to relax in the midst of all of the activities. The property is very comfortable, and has all of the necessities. I wish I had more time to enjoy the property. I do plan on returning so I can check out the pond and animals .. and take time to explore old town Culpeper.
We had a great stay and this was just what we needed for a group of 6. About 25 mins from the nearest entrance to Shenandoah National Park, and close to the cute town of Culpeper with plenty of options to see and do. Beautiful grounds to walk around and the owners were very quick to respond to any questions. Had all the amenities we needed for our stay, just maybe bring your own pillow. Will definitely book again if we are back in the area! Thanks
If you want to explore the area (many great hikes, wineries, little shops) this is a great place to stay. Beautiful nature, animals, and stars. Will suite a big company. Cooked meals including eggs provided by a host for 16 people. Many additional activities (fishing, goat play, campfire). Added to favorites.
