About this property

A little mountain cabin in the woods.

Welcome to The Berry House, a cozy home nestled in the woods. It's the perfect place to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of city life. For those seeking adventure, we're located near various recreational activities such as skiing, gem mining, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, rafting, and the prestigious Penland School of Crafts. We're situated in the Western North Carolina mountains, just five minutes away from town. As you approach your home away from home, enjoy a short drive through the Rusty Spur Tree Farm where you'll see cows, horses, and some area wildlife frolicking in the fields. This is a great place to get away and relax in a quiet location.

We're conveniently located within a reasonable commute to Ski Beech, Appalachian Ski Resort, Sugar Mountain Ski Resort, and Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing. Plus, we're centrally located between Asheville, Boone, and Johnson City.

If you're towing motorcycles on a trailer, you're more than welcome to park the trailer at our farm located just below the cabin. And when you're out riding, you can leave your truck along with the trailer at the barn without any worries.

Just keep in mind that the cabin is on a gravel road.

Outstanding experience!
Property had everything that was expected and more. Very clean, organized and nicely decorated for the upcoming season. Communication with the owners was exceptional. It is our first experience renting a property and we will definitely consider - and recommend to friends - this rental again in the future.

Perfect Anniversary Weekend
We stayed at this lovely cabin for our 22 year anniversary and loved it! This was our first time booking through VRBO and we’re very pleased. The cabin was perfect, very clean, just as described and depicted in the photos. Communication from the hosts was great! We would stay here again!

Clean and comfortable
The cabin was as advertised. It provided a clean and comfortable home base for us to explore the beautiful mountains of the area. The hosts were helpful and arrangements were easy. We especially enjoyed time around the fire pit each evening.

When Melissa and I met over twenty years ago we both had the desire to own a farm. Little did we know how much work it would take. In 2000, we purchased this farm and named it the Rusty Spur. In 2020 we were blessed with the Berry House, a little cabin in the woods just above our farm. While our adventure began with horses, we have diversified into a Christmas tree and cattle farm. It is through this farm, the Rusty Spur, that visitors to the Berry House will drive as they venture to their temporary home. We pray that while you visit you have a time of rest and rejuvenation. We are close enough to be of assistance if needed, but far enough away to allow you the privacy you desire. Hope to see you soon!

Looking for a fun activity, we have attractions of all kinds in the area, plus we are centrally located between Boone, Asheville, Hickory, and Johnson City.
