About the host

The condo is owned by two friends, Robert and Mark, who have known each other for over 25 years. Robert first purchased a condo and lived in the complex for over 7 years (he has since sold his condo). When this particular condo became available for purchase, the two friends decided to go in on it together...because units in this location (uninterrupted mountain view’s) don't become available very often. Mark lives an hour outside of Palm Springs but stays in the condo for weekend getaways when it's available. Robert is originally from upstate New York but has called California home for over 30 years. He's retired from the hospitality business and spends his time between Palm Springs and Phoenix. Mark is a California native and has been working as a university administrator for the last 20 years.

Both guys are available during your stay to answer any questions.

Why they chose this property

The guys both think that this is one of the best condos in the complex...if not THE best. The condo is on a quiet street and has its own private entrance with the parking space situated close to the front door...it's like a house and only shares one wall. The wall of windows in the living room area are south facing so they let in a lot of natural light and of course give you that great view of the mountains. It's so quiet and peaceful you can't help but feel relaxed the second you arrive.

The mid-century architecture in the 1963 condo is also very unique. Robert is part of the architectural committee for the complex and the owners are all interested in preserving the history and original look of the condos. The condos were originally offered as winter getaways with luxury amenities listed as "G.E. Refrigeration, Built-in Kitchens, Wall-to-Wall Wool Carpets and Traverse Drapes". The original price of the new condos at that time was $17,950 with a down payment of $1950.

Times have changed and the carpet has been replaced with tile, the drapes are gone and single pane windows have been replaced with energy efficient ones for year-round living and comfort.

What makes this property unique

With only 50 units, the complex is typically very quiet. Often times when lounging by the pool you won't see a single person (depending on the season). There is a 50/50 split between full time residents living in the complex and those who use their condo as a vacation getaway. The grounds and pools are well kept with palm trees and desert plants proportionate to the complex.

The City of Palm Springs has grown quite a bit over the last several years. The downtown is bustling with many shops and restaurants. Gone are the days of quiet Palm Springs summers...visitors are calling it a vacation destination year- round. Palm Springs will always have that small town feel but with everything easy to get to it's a great place to vacation, relax and enjoy life.
