Newer Upscale Home with Htd Pool & Spa - Bike or Walk to Beaches and Restaurants
Please note there are two stairs into the house thru the garage and the front and back of the property. Therefore it is not handicap accessible. Family-friendly activities, nightlife, fine dining at the upscale Mercato outdoor entertainment mall and the Ritz Carlton with nightly entertainment along with beachfront restaurants are within walking distance. 14 ft backlit tray ceilings, upscale kitchen with large breakfast bar, heated (80 degrees- warmer with a small additional fee ) caged pool w/spa & tiled patio surround w/outdoor shower next to granite half bath poolside. Salt water system meaning no more chlorine smell and faded maybe even ruined bathing suits! Please note due to the depth of the pool and the rapidity of the depth increase to over five feet care must be taken with young children. There is a pool alarm that activates when the back sliders are open but it is often unplugged by guests. It is somewhat loud so it can be heard well. Please verify it is plugged in if you are going to have children in the house that are not good swimmers. The unit is at the back of the primary bedroom closet. Being on the closest block to Vanderbuilt Drive you will be a 1/2 block from Five million dollar homes situated on channel fronts that lead to the Gulf. One of my favorite things to do is ride or walk up and down the many waterfront streets and admire the custom mansions. Enjoy Naples only beachfront dining at the Ritz Carlton and Turtles just a short 15-20 min. stroll away or 5 minute drive and take advantage of their free valet parking. Make your reservations at Turtles or La Playa Hotel (3rd beachfront restaurant) as soon as you know your dates in Naples (Gumbo Limbo at the Ritz doesn't take reservations which is not a problem as you can hang out by the beach while you wait).
The furnishings and electronics are first class. You will be amazed by the internet speeds of 400MBPS down and 10MBPS up. TV's in every room including a 75" 4k Samsung TV w/surround sound and DVD in great room, 60" 4k with surround sound in M/B, 2nd split master has 50" 4k and 43" by pool in lanai (also external speakers with in-room volume controls for music to most areas). You will be staying in a home I intend to retire to in several years. Every convenience will be provided right down to 6 tennis rackets (4 adult & 2 junior size ) along with balls to enjoy at the nearby lighted clay courts owned by 4 local pros. Also provided for your use are two newer Callaway golf clubs sets (men and women's) so you don't have to drag your own on the plane and pay the extra luggage fee. You will be paying a discounted rent to be in the middle of the 500 block in this part of Naples although I paid a location premium when I purchased it and decorated it several years ago. If you knew the area like I do you wouldn't want to be any further east. If you decided on a different property make sure you understand the blocks in this part of Naples are each over 25 houses long going east to west but just 2 or 3 going north/south. When you get into the 600, 700 or 800 blocks east of Vanderbuilt Drive you are much further from the beach. The further east you are the quicker the price drops in rent but so might the quality of the neighborhood. When you decide to turn off the lights and wind down you won't hear anything. The custom pool lighting that you decide on will set your mood each night while in the house or when seated outside. When you book a home in this popular part of Naples make sure to understand the difference between a newer home and one built before 2012. You're getting 14' ceiling heights with mood lighted cove molding and tray ceilings. I don't sleep on cheap sheets and neither will you. Bugs are not usually a problem in this part of Naples. However, the pool cage gives the added security of being able to open up the full wall of pocket sliders in the great room which is like removing the wall thus opening the great room to the outside . Please remember though that if it is humid out and you open up the wall of sliders to the outside that the air conditioning system can freeze up and then you'll be without air for the night until it thaws and you might also be requiring a service call. Be sure to keep the slider no wider than the width needed to pass thru easily when it is hot or humid out. The pool area is graced with a beautiful white travertine marble table with seating for six on comfortable wrought iron chairs with cushions. Please note the coasters and place mats must be used religiously in order to prevent permanent stains. The great room seating includes a camel leather sectional. The view of the landscaped pool can also be enjoyed from the solid wood dining room set. Please understand this is not the typical "beach house". Furnishings of this caliber are meant to be enjoyed but you must respect their vulnerability to spilled red wine or other stains. For that reason we have provided stemless lead free crystal glassware. We also prefer the use of our quality plastic goblets and tumblers when in the tiled pool area to avoid the risk of breaking a glass and the resultant shards that can be a challenge to completely vacuum up between the brick tiles. You will enjoy the convenience of the granite half bath in the pool area. The pool/spa area is quite private and to be enjoyed as you see fit. Cesar the landscaper comes weekly on Fridays. You'll love the outside shower for a quick rinse off when returning from the beach or after a dip in the pool and hot tub. Ceiling fans are in every room including the covered lanai. Please enjoy the condiments, food stuffs, sunscreen and toiletry items, etc. Just replace where needed as you use them so our next guests will have the same benefit but I will usually have extras of most staples. No doubt you can avoid renting a car if you desire and we have had guests do so. There is a trolley during the day that travels all thru Naples departing from the Mercato outdoor mall and Vanderbuilt Beach during daylight hours. I do suggest renting a car though if you want to see everything in the area. To avoid paying airport taxes you might want to uber to the property for around $35-50 dollars then have a scheduled pickup by Enterprise rental cars at the property. Walking or biking to nearby Vanderbilt Beach or Del Wiggins State Park Beach is both scenic and enjoyable. Fort Myers and Bonita Beaches are best reached by car but biking there is possible. The good news is that almost everything you will want is within a mile of the property including a Whole Foods Market. It is safe to walk and bike at night and I do so often but just like anywhere else use common sense and try to stay on the sidewalks. You will be extremely impressed with the biking in Naples. You will be able to stick reasonably close to the Gulf as you follow the roads north or south. Our proximity to the beach provides a refreshing separate microclimate which will be cooler and less likely to have mosquitoes during the hottest months unlike the areas of Naples that are more than a mile from the Gulf. You'll also be walking distance away from those fabulous Gulf sunsets everyone comes to see. You can also walk to the beach with the easy carry folding beach chairs and wheeled cooler or drop everyone by car at the turnaround at the beach then park at the public garage a block away. If on the rare occasion the garage is full drive back to the house then ride a bike five minutes back to the beach. Be sure to visit Delnor Wiggins State Park Beach which was voted 9th Best Beach in the U.S. Barefoot State Park Beach which is a quick 15 minute drive was voted 2nd in the same survey. I've been all over Florida for the past forty years. Each area has its favored parts but none compares with the variety and beauty of Naples. My neighbors Tammy and Dan live in the house next door to the west that was built two years before mine (look similar) are very friendly and Tammy will almost always introduce herself and if you have a quick question try to be of assistance. I have a great handyman in the neighborhood if you ever have a problem that needs to be addressed. John my neighbor across the street is a video specialist and put in the TVs and Sonos sound system. His number is in the house manual and he will be available if you have a problem. Five 24Spd Trek Bikes w/lights and racks to get you to two great beaches if you don't want to walk. You will save a bundle not having to rent. Electric bikes can be rented at the Pedago shop in the neighborhood. Be sure to check the lights front and back upon arrival if planning to ride after dark. Charging cables are in draw near the sink. There is an Alexa in the kitchen to tell you the weather and guide you in her usual helpful way.

About the host
Hosted by Jim Doherty
I'm an optometrist and own a small chain of opticals in Chicagoland. I've enjoyed the sunsets at my lake house on Fox Lake in Illinois for over thirty years. That is one of the reasons I purchased in Naples. The sunsets are second to none!
Why they chose this property
This property was purchased because it was built to today's hurricane codes last set in 2012. The builder had impeccable taste and attention to details. After seeing how comfortable and scenic the walk is to Vanderbuilt Beach and all its restaurants with sunset views I chose this property as a future retirement home.
What makes this property unique
This part of Naples gets you in and out of all the top spots you will want to visit during your stay without any traffic bottlenecks like you will find near 5th Avenue South and 3rd Street. Your proximity to Vanderbilt Beach will get you walking distance to its mansions by heading either north or south. If you go north you'll also be immersed in old Florida's natural state when you enter the Del Wiggins State Park. Use any of the five multi-speed Trek bikes and you'll find lots of safe bike paths to enjoy mostly traffic free. Bikes are not allowed on the beaches and can be damaged if driven on sand. Our maid who lives three houses down will be taking a photo of them at the end of each rental period due to their high value. The VRBO insurance for 99.00 may cover the loss of one with a police report but I'm not positive so please be attentive to where you keep them. They will have good locks. Just make sure you lock them up in a highly visible place.
