A special place
We had a wonderful stay at Meadow Camp. It is sited approximately one mile along a well kept off road track. Silence. There is a great view of a small river and meadow. So peaceful.
The owners, and builders, Marijo and Dean were exceptional hosts, showing us lakes to swim in and generally being magnificent hosts.
The lodge itself is very well appointed with a full kitchen with everything you could need - we had a family cook off and were never short of anything. The beds are great and there are 4 doubles and two singles. There are two satellite TVs but no wifi, which we enjoyed being off grid. The mobile reception is also difficult, again which we also enjoyed. It feels remote but is only a mile from a main road.
There are two canoes and one canadian canoe by the cabin which you can use to paddle on the small river, we found a beaver dam up river.
We saw beaver, hummingbirds, bald eagles and heard moose. There are plenty of black bear around but they never bother anyone.
Mount Desert Island is about 35 mins away and was nice but busy with tourists, we preferred hanging out at Meadow Camp.
We will be back, it is a really special place.
