Calf How Lodge on Bram Cragg is just wonderful. Gillian is a superb host! The lodge is nestled in the wonderous valley of St John's in the Vale. It's a very central point for exploring the very best of the Lake District. The lodge was very comfortable and the decking looks out onto a pond frequented by herons, fields with cows in and mountains all around. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular and we often relaxed in the lodge staring at the views. There is one other lodge next door and a converted barn but we rarely noticed any other guests. The wifi worked extremely well and the TV had all the channels needed. On days out we went to Keswick, Windermere, Thirlmere, Derwentwater, Threlkeld Mining Musuem and Penrith to see family. One day we walked from the lodge to Low Bridge End Farm for the most delicious fruit scones, then a 4.5 mile walk back around up the hills opposite our lodge and back. Just stunning! We very hope to be back.

Thank you,
Pleased you enjoyed your time in our beautiful area of the Lake District.
Thank you for making another return visit to Calf How Lodge. Our valley is looking beautiful in the autumn colours mid October to mid November and very beautiful when the sun shines.
Unfortunately we didn't make our trip as our elderly dog was ill and ultimately had to be put to sleep just 3 days prior to our intended stay. The host was very kind and gave us nearly a full refund. The location looks perfect, so we will definitely rebook.

We do live in a special and beautiful place.
First impression on arrival was how perfect the location was. The property did not disappoint either, it was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Overall we had a very comfortable week here and were perfectly located for all the places we wanted to visit. I could not fault this property and would highly recommend it.
