Beautiful location right on the lake. Very peaceful, loved the dock as we were able to enjoy and swim in the lake right off the dock. Good spot for family vacation. Had a great time.
Two families spent a week at the lake cabin, end of summer vacation. Cabin was located in the right location to get sun on the dock all day. Kitchen was well stocked. Layout for all was good. We all had a great time.
Great place to kick back and relax with comfortable rooms, lots of deck space and a modern kitchen. Calvin is an excellent host, providing all the information we needed for our stay and responding in a very timely manner when we had additional questions. The location near the end of the Western Arm of Shawnigan Lake makes for a relatively quiet oasis and is close to bike trails, the Lakehouse restaurant (excellent) and not far from the village for coffee and necessities. Would definitely stay again if we were looking for a nice cottage to get away from the city.
Very comfortable, clean spacious well equipped cottage. Great dock . Great for family and little road trips. Close to The Lakehouse Restaurant on Shawnigan Lake. Food, service and entertainment was awesome Close to Mill Bay shopping and local parks and trails. We highly recommend this cottage and hope to return again.
We came to visit our daughter who goes to school nearby. The house fit all of us beautifully, it was well stocked with towels, kitchen gear, etc. to make our stay comfortable. Sitting on the dock watching the sky change during the day or watching the stars at night was magical.
Really nice and exceptional locational at Lake Shawnigan.
Priviledged access to the Lake and spacious cabin with all the facilities for even longer stays...lots of rules to follow but
nevertheless highly recommendable
Nice property in a great location. The house was well stocked with dishes, cooking utensils and had many spices and condiments not usually found in a VRBO property. The complimentary wine was a very nice touch and much appreciated. We really enjoyed the dock, lake and as former water skiers, watching the many skiers on the lake. It was quiet and we were never disturbed by noisy neighbors.
Stunning and so cozy! Would absolutely stay again.
My family stayed at the cabin for 10 days over the Christmas break, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations! BEAUTIFUL view, stunning and homey interior, a quick drive to shopping essentials, and just a hop away from the Lakehouse restaurant/bar (but we ended up spending 90% of our time just enjoying the cabin). Calvin was very responsive and friendly, and we had no issues during our stay. I’m looking forward to booking this property again for a future getaway!
We had an amazing time!!!! The lake and home is amazing! It’s also very cool in super hot weather which was awesome! The beach was great for our 3 year old and very friendly neighbors as well which made you feel welcome to!
We were in the area for my daughter’s hockey camp and it was a great place to relax and enjoy the lake when she was done at the rink. Also fun exploring the area with my parents while she was at camp.
Upon arrival the property exceeded our expectations. The property was immaculate, and larger than the pictures led us to believe. Calvin contacted us on arrival and was easily contactable should we have needed anything. We would happily stay there again. theexpectations. The property was immaculate. and even
My family had a wonderful time at this property for our mini weekend getaway to Shawnigan Lake. The home was very well appointed and had everything we could have wanted to enjoy our stay in the cottage. The rooms and furnishings were so comfortable and spacious for our group of 4. Everything was very clean and the host provided us with lovely recommendations on things to do and places to dine at near Shawnigan. The home was located on a beautiful, scenic part of the lake. Spending our afternoons on the dock, sunbathing and swimming was so much fun. Everything went very smoothly with the booking process and the host was timely and responsive to our questions. They even left us a lovely welcome basket with snacks and wine! My kids and I can't wait to go back again! I highly recommend this beautiful property.
We loved our stay at this little slice of paradise! The house was clean and cozy and very well appointed. The beds were very comfortable and the towels were soft and fluffy. My elderly parents were very happy to have a main floor bedroom so they didn’t have to do stairs to access their room each night.
The particular spot on the lake was ideal. The dock had sunshine all day while the house is tucked into the shade for most of the afternoon which helped to keep it cool during the heat of the day. We had so much fun kayaking and paddle boarding and floating off the dock.
The house is close to shopping and restaurants and we even took an excursion up to the Cowichan River to float the river at the Tube Shack. The Keslor Trestle is a short five minute drive and we were able to take my 81 year old mother along since there are benches along the 1km trail to rest.
We had a wonderful vacation and hope to be back next summer!

We had high hopes for this cabin rental based on glowing reviews, but our experience didn’t meet expectations.Several maintenance issues were apparent: a broken dining chair, screen door falling off, a loose shower knob, unsafe dock planks, and a wobbly deck railing. The glass on the deck was dirty, floorboards were splintering, and there was a wasp issue—both my parents were stung. Bedding and mattresses were just okay and could use an update. There was no shaded area by the lake, no firepit, and while the dock had kayaks, a canoe, and floaties, they were locked and not for guest use. This was disappointing, especially after travelling far to enjoy the lake. The cabin is tightly sandwiched between two others; one neighbour played loud music and had dogs that wandered into our space. The lake was also quite busy, with heavy boat traffic and loud seadoos. On our first night, a nearby home played rave music until 3 a.m., leaving us exhausted. While the owner can’t control neighbours, this area may not suit those seeking peace and quiet. For 1,000 per night, we expected a higher level of comfort and care. The cabin felt bare-bones and underwhelming for the price.

Dear Guest,
It's rather unfortunate that you chose to be critical of things that were never represented as being available (ie. kayaks, fire pits, etc.) or things which we have no control over as hosts (wasps, a wedding celebration along the West arm). The fact that you filled our laundry baskets with empty beer cans upon leaving underscores your disrespectful attitude towards our property, and a general lack of common decency. Our neighbours are local, friendly folk who would never be loud and obnoxious. There are many reasonable, wonderful guests who have stayed at our cabin, and who appreciate that this is our summer home and hence treat it like their own during their enjoyable stays. But regrettably, you are not among such kind folk, and instead chose to be hyper critical primarily because you could not tolerate a wedding celebration along the West arm of the lake during your stay.
We had a wonderful time here. It was perfect for all ages. The sandy beach area was popular with the little ones. There was lots of space on the dock for chairs and lounging. The water was nice and deep so you could jump/dive in. The ladder made it easy to get into and out of the water. The 'cottage' was very much a complete house with lots of space and amenities. The beds were comfy and the towels and linens fluffy and fresh. The kitchen was stocked with spices, seasoning, oils, coffee, tea and sugar. We had brought our own but it was nice to know that if we were short there wasn't a rush to the store. All appliances worked perfectly. The outdoor furniture was comfortable. The BBQ was clean and easy to use. There is longish staircase from the top main level deck to the ground level and beach access. If you have little ones you should bring a baby gate to block the top of the stairs. We had a few instances of our 2 year old taking off down the stairs (he's very quick and agile!!!).We missed having water floats/toys, so bring your own. The only other thing we missed was an umbrella for the dock. The sun is on the dock from morning until sunset and it was our fav place to hang out. There is a steep hill to reach the cottage, so pay heed to the parking instructions. The neighbours are friendly. We had a great time and hope to return next year!
Excellent location, you will never want to leave this lakeside paradise. Excellent communication from host,
