Spacious , clean, warm and very comfortable. Some lovely art work on the walls.Several reading nooks, but some lighting not quite adequate for reading. Lots of toilets appreciated, given split over a number of floors.Well equipped kitchen, and several eating spaces, although we ate out most of the time. Garden furniture was positioned for the amazing views over the Severn.Cobbled path to the front door was uneven and slippy when wet.The shower in the main ensuite needed a grab rail.Farm milk in vending machine was fantastic, very rich.

A fantastic, restorative place!

I came to Wallhope running on empty and left feeling like a different person. It's hard to overstate how restorative a few days here were. The scenery is phenomenal. Every view seems to outdo the last, and simply sitting and taking it in became one of the highlights of my stay. It's the kind of setting that slows you down without you even noticing. The bed deserve a special mention. It’s genuinely one of the most comfortable I've slept in, and after weeks of broken sleep, I had the deepest rest I've had in a long time. And the ice cream? Delicious. It's a small detail, but it was a real treat and something I found myself looking forward to every day.

A wonderful break

Wallhope Retreat could set the gold standard for holiday cottages! We booked for the wonderful view and the hot tub, but were wowed by the whole experience. The cottage is beautifully decorated, well equipped and comfortable - the bedding is like sleeping on a cloud! Wonderfully peaceful, with nothing but birdsong and the cows to listen to, the comfortable garden furniture is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy it. Tucked away beside the kitchen is a small courtyard which was the perfect spot for morning coffee too. We couldn’t have asked for more from a holiday cottage, it really sets the gold standard for how to do it - they’ve thought of everything and got it absolutely right.

Best weekend stay

We often do short breaks but this is easily the best stay we have had. From the moment we arrived we was shocked just how nice this place is. From the great views to the high standards inside the property, everything was perfect. The owners of the property went above and beyond to make our stay perfect and nothing was to much trouble. A must try is the ice cream that is made on site and can be purchased just a few meters from the house. Cant wait to return to this lovely property. Thanks again to the owners for making the perfect stay.

A superb cottage

We found the cottage to be spacious and very comfortable with everything there that was needed. We found the cottage and its surroundings to be peaceful with only the mooing of the cows to remind us of the environment that we wanted. I did message the owners on the morning we left to say how good our stay was but perhaps they did not receive it as we did not get a reply but hopefully this review will get to them for them to know we were grateful for such a good stay

A well titled cottage

We had a wonderful week at this beautiful cottage. It’s spacious, well equipped & the views from the windows are priceless! We enjoyed watching the cows going in & out for milking & the house martins swooping about. There are lots of walks in the local area & it is a great spot from which to explore both the Wye Valley & the Forest of Dean. Would highly recommend a visit to the local pub at Woodcroft - easy to walk there across the fields & it’s very dog friendly. We just wish we could have stayed at the cottage longer!

Fabulous Stay

My partner and I had a wonderful 2 night stay at Wallhope Retreat last week. The property itself has been renovated to a very high standard, was immaculately clean and exceeded all of our expectations. The location is wonderful and the view from the garden is breathtaking. Beautiful short stay cottage

Perfect for a short stay away. Cosy cottage for four located on a working farm with fresh milk and homemade ice cream! Cows greet you in the morning and stunning views across the estuary. Very peaceful but great location to visit surrounding area including Tintern and Cardiff, Bristol and Bath also not too far away. Highly recommend.

Just perfection

We couldn't have asked for more, wall to wall sunshine and peace, quiet and beautiful views - just our cup of tea! Plus the friendly helpfulness of Sarah and Paul - I, at aged 88, and my daughter just loved it. I've been to the Wye Valley several times and am convinced it has some of the loveliest scenery in the country.

Gorgeous short stay

Wallhope Retreat was beautiful. The property is done to very high standards and the building itself is interestingly characterful and in a fabulous position. The hot tub and the view were the cream on the cake and we very much enjoyed relaxing in the garden on the comfortable outdoor furniture whilst enjoying the view towards the bridge. Lots of walks immediately from the property or a short drive away. Hosts were very welcoming whilst respecting your privacy and we were able to relax completely. Highly recommended.

Beautiful cottage, stunning views

Really lovely place - and stunning views over the farm and fields down to the Severn Bridge. Rooms are really spacious. Everything is clean and new... great wifi signal. It's on a working farm... and I would recommend taking the farm tour with host Sarah, who was lovely and friendly. There's also a nice garden and private hot tub which was fantastic. We had a fantastic relaxing week there and really didn't want to leave!
