About this property
Private Shingled Cottage in Northeast Harbor Village: Walk to Acadia and Harbor
Set back from the road behind a screen of evergreen trees, our quiet cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath, an eat-in kitchen that comfortably seats 4 and a living room with Brown Jordan wicker furniture. Along the front runs a thirty foot deck with a Brown Jordan dining set and wicker rocker and settee. From here, you can walk several blocks into Northeast Harbor and find fresh bread and pastries at four excellent food shops and a full range of groceries at Pine Tree Market. The harbor, Gilpatrick's Cove, an exceptional library, and the Neighborhood House with yoga are all 5-10 minute walks away. The town trails connecting to Acadia National Park start on the other end of Main Street. If you study Google maps, you will see that our lot sits in the exact midpoint of Northeast Harbor.
With new oak floors throughout and crisp white walls, the cottage is decorated with two dozen landscape paintings, the work of the owner. One bedroom as a queen, one a double bed, both withTempur-Pedic mattresses. The third has two custom oversized twin beds.
The wifi is strong enough to stream movies, and we have a wide screen TV and projector and screen, both rigged with an HDMI cable for your laptop. We also have a wide range of board games, puzzles, and books, with a good selection of children's books. The kitchen is equipped with a full range of gear: an oven, stove-top, griddle, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer.
If you dream about a vacation in which you can walk, bike or boat everywhere you wish to go, this is a great spot.

About the host
Hosted by CHRISTOPHER ZAMORE

My wife fell in love with Mount Desert during childhood vacations. I came to Northeast Harbor during college summers to teach sailing and eventually manage the local sailing club. We are both teachers and love spending vacations here with our three children, biking, hiking, and boating. We love walking into town or down to the marina in the early evenings to see what new boats have sailed in.
Why they chose this property
We bought this cottage because of its excellent location, its large private lot, and the way its plantings preserved its privacy. We like to bike on the carriage trails, launch kayaks down at the Sea Street dock, walk to the beautiful public gardens at the head of the harbor, or stop in at McGrath's for a coffee and the local paper.
What makes this property unique
Some of the most important gifts we take away from vacations are the sounds we hear. From our cottage, you will be surrounded by birdsong from the trees that surround the property, children's voices from the children's center up the street, and families walking or biking into town. When the wind shifts east, you'll hear the gong at the harbor entrance and fog horns out on the Western Way.
