If one route is closed, it is the YOUR responsibility to make alternate plans for travel. NO REFUNDS will be given at any time of the year simply because an alternate route must be taken and add additional travel time. Highway 20 is closed in the winter and mountain passes can be closed anytime of the year because of wildfires, rockslides or other occurrences. Directions over all the routes will be sent to. you 3 days before your arrival. Make sure to check pass reports(and they can change while you are en route) and print out the directions before you leave.
2)Trail Access/Closure Information: If you are coming to hike, bike, or ski on a trail or system of trails which happen to be closed before or during your stay, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN because of this. Trail closures can occur anytime because of fire, rockslides, mud flows...and we have no control over this. There are many hiking, biking trails of various kinds in the Methow Valley. Internet speeds vary throughout the valley and outages or tech issues can occur that we have no control over, and for these reasons NO REFUNDS are given if the internet is problematic. We also do not guarantee that the internet will meet your work/school needs. Should you have an issue with internet service, please send us a message through VRBO describing the problem. We will then contact you to troubleshoot. If the issue is not resolved, we will then contact the internet provider, and/or homeowner. Please note... our valley is very rural and getting service personnel to fix things in a timely manner can be a challenge. We rent lodging, not office space.
Public internet is available at the Winthrop library with enhanced internet speed (parking lot or inside the library). Alternatively, for a fee you can go to the Dropzone in downtown Winthrop. Thank you for your understanding!
IMPORTANT WINTER INFORMATION : **Should you travel to the Methow during the winter months it is important to understand that you must be prepared for winter driving(keep chains, shovel...in the car) and all the inconveniences it causes you and the community you are visiting. The weather can be extreme with large snowfalls, unexpected technical issues, frozen pipes, impassable roads/driveways). If it snows while here you will have to wait for plow service just like every other person in the valley. There are a limited number of plow companies and Methow Reservations nor the owners of the house are in control of the plow company schedules. They have many different contracts and many miles of roads, driveways...to plow. If a plow person or a snow shoveler shows up to clear any area around the house, please do not argue with them or turn them away. Move your vehicles if asked. Your cooperation and patience are required especially after any significant snow accumulation. Should you get stuck you can call Classic Towing in Twisp, WA
**Propane Fireplace--should there be tech issues or the propane fireplace upon your arrival please send a message through Airbnb. Methow Reservations and the owner will try to troubleshoot and remedy the problem. If the problem requires a part or there is an issue with the propane company that may take longer that your stay, NO REFUNDS will be given.

Truly an awesome place to hideaway with family or friends for awhile , they’ve thought of everything you could possibly need and it is a gorgeous home !!!!
We were so impressed with Black Bear Lodge. Everything was beautiful and the space worked out so well for our family. We will definitely stay there again!
We had a wonderful time staying at BBL. The house is well stocked with kitchen supplies, extra blankets and wood! It was the perfect ski weekend , it’s the best when you can ski right out the door!
This is our 2nd year staying at Black Bear Lodge with friends. The house is large enough to still feel like you aren't on top of each other. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your meals. We love being able to ski from the house to trails and also in to Mazama for lunch or a beer. We would happily stay here again!

So glad you enjoyed your stay:) Would be happy to host you again:)
Location was great for day hikes at North Cascades. House was nearly perfect and worked fine for 2 families of 4. Only complaint was the lack of A/C and/or fans. It was 90 during our stay and the house stayed hot overnight, making it nearly impossible to get good sleep. Other than that, the house was great.

Glad you had a nice time. Hmmm, we are surprised that you mentioned that there was not A/C. Blackbear does have A/C. We didn't receive any message through VRBO that there was a problem. We would have been happy to help.
My friends and I stayed here for the weekend, and Black Bear Lodge was everything we expected and more! Kathleen thought of every detail preparing the house for us. We especially loved the wood fireplace, amazingly outfitted kitchen, the window seat with a fantastic view of the mountains, and having access to a hot tub! Thanks for having us! We will definitely come back another time.

Thank you for staying..we would love to have you visit Black Bear Lodge again!
outstanding location with great views and a beautiful home. You're always slightly concerned when you book a rental that the property does the pictures. For this property, I can guarantee you wont be disappointed. My family had a wonderful time in this large yet cozy cabin/home which was very well appointed. The pool table was a nice little bonus.
For 4 days, we barely touched our phones. So much to do in the location and plenty to keep us occupied in the home. Loved it.
Overall we enjoyed this property and it's amenities.
Two call outs:
1) There were ants seen throughout the property especially upstairs. The hosts had taken steps to eradicate (traps seen in high ant traffic areas) but we did find ants in our things.
2) The snow melt had turned the driveway into an ice-rink and pool. Not sure what options the hosts have to help on this but we did have a few slips and some soaked shoes as a result.
This property sits on 5 acres with views of Goat Peak, and it feels like you are surrounded by forest, and all that wilderness entails.
The interior is luxuriously appointed with a high end kitchen and a cozy fireplace conversation area under a grand antler chandelier, and a separate TV and pool table play area. Each of the three main sleeping quarters have their own private bathrooms.
Remember you are in the wilderness, but the WiFi worked well, and you are only a short 10 min walk to the Freestone Inn and Lake.
Our group of 7 friends had a wonderful 3 day getaway over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend. The home is fully stocked with everything you could need. The kitchen was the best stocked kitchen of any vacation rental any of us had ever stayed at. We would definitely stay here again.
A couple notes, the house does have a gas grill on the deck which wasn't listed in the amenities or the pictures if you're planning on doing any grilling. The emergency line contact was very helpful about figuring out how to turn the gas to the home back on after a stretch of wildfires had passed by recently, but we never heard back from a couple other minor questions from the regular contact info. There was no house or rule manual, which would be helpful and while everything was clean, because of the fires, it appeared no one had been to or stayed at the home in quite some time. There were many dead insects and ash throughout the house. At the high price paid for the cleaning fee, that was rather disappointing.
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful home. It was peaceful and private with a lovely outdoor area that had mountain views (Goat Peak). Because of the heat dome, we finished our hikes early and enjoyed the home’s amenities the rest of the day and played in the backyard creek. My teenage son loved the adjoining billiard room and bedroom. The kitchen was well stocked. Highly recommend!!!
We had the most incredible family weekend - teens and adults were happy with the variety of activities (swimming, hiking, kayaking) as well as browsing in the town of Winthrop, Farmer's Market in Twisp, a gourmet kitchen with everything we could possibly need to prepare our meals. We played the "take one/leave one" game with a lovely bottle of wine. Shopping for a bottle to replace what we took added to the enjoyment. Starting each morning with coffee outside was the perfect way to transition from crazy work schedules to respite. Thank you for providing all we could possibly need. We will definitely stay again!
Gorgeous home in a secluded spot. The home was very clean and well maintained. It was also well stocked with all the essentials. We absolutely loved the patio and fire pit areas. It was a great place to relax and enjoy some quality family time! The hosts were very responsive and helpful with information about the home and surrounding area. This was our first VRBO experience and it could not have gone better!
Black Bear Lodge offers access to the Methow Valley Sports Trail and the Freestone Lodge's seasonally available outdoor pool and hot tub at the foot of the North Cascades! Perfect for gathering with family and friends!
