The Space:

Ursa Minor is a striking four bedroom home at Methow Ranch, just outside Mazama. Built with cross-laminated timber panels, the single-level design features solid wood walls and ceilings throughout, creating a warm and contemporary atmosphere.

The layout offers two private bedroom wings connected by a spacious central living, dining, and kitchen area. The main living space includes a generous sofa set around the fireplace, a large dining table, and a high-spec kitchen.

The primary wing includes:

- Primary suite with California king bed and ensuite bath, twin sinks, soaking tub, and walk-in shower

- Second king bedroom with ensuite bathroom

- Butler’s pantry, office, and laundry room

The guest wing includes:

- King bedroom

- Bunk room (doubles as the media room) with four twin XL bunk beds, each with an individual reading light and power outlet, plus a queen sleeper sofa

- Shared bathroom with access from both the bunk room and the connecting corridor

Outdoors, a large patio looks across open meadows toward Goat Peak and is furnished with a gas grill and outdoor seating.

With space for twelve guests, Ursa Minor is one of the finest modern rentals in the Mazama area. Conveniently located just off Highway 20, it offers easy access to Mazama, Winthrop, and nearby trails for Nordic skiing, hiking, and year-round recreation. The Methow Community Trail can be reached from the end of Methow Ranch Road, just yards from the house, providing excellent Nordic skiing in winter and mountain biking or hiking in other seasons. This trail connects to both Mazama and Winthrop as well as the extensive Methow Trails system.

The Neighborhood:

Ursa Minor is part of a dispersed neighborhood of well-spaced homes set among the pines 3.5 miles from Mazama village. From here you’ll find easy access to the Methow Trails system for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Mazama offers a well-stocked store and bakery, the Goat’s Beard outdoor shop (with bike rentals), and Mazama Ski School for ski rentals and lessons. The Mazama Public House is a popular stop for food and drinks.

North Cascades National Park

Mazama is also well placed for exploring the North Cascades. Trailheads for many of the Park’s best hikes are a short drive away: about 25 minutes to Cutthroat Lake, 30 minutes to Washington Pass, and 35 minutes to Maple Pass. Staying here makes it easier to beat the crowds and find parking during peak seasons.

Getting Around:

Getting Here: From May to November, the most direct route from Seattle and the west side is via State Route 20 over Washington Pass (check WSDOT for seasonal closures). In winter, alternate routes are via I-90 and Snoqualmie Pass with Blewett Pass, or via Highway 2 over Stevens Pass. Together these form the scenic Cascade Loop. Major airports include Spokane International (180 miles, year-round) and Seattle-Tacoma International (190 miles in summer / 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee (102 miles).

Getting Around: The Mazama Store is 3.5 miles away, and Winthrop is 12.5 miles (under 20 minutes by car).

Other Things to Note:

Sleeping Arrangements:

Ursa Minor sleeps up to 12 guests. The three king bedrooms each sleep two; the bunk room (which doubles as the media room) has four twin XL bunk beds, each with its own reading light and power outlet, plus a queen sleeper sofa, sleeping six. Reaching the full capacity of 12 means six guests share the bunk room. Maximum occupancy is 12.

Heating / Cooling:

The home has AC for the whole house, with additional ceiling fans in the great room and primary suite.

Exterior Security Cameras:

There are four exterior security cameras monitoring the entry doors at front, back and side of the property. In addition the keyless lock has a camera.

Ski Access:

The Methow Community Trail can be reached from the end of Methow Ranch Road, just yards from the house, providing excellent Nordic skiing in winter and mountain biking or hiking in other seasons. This trail connects to both Mazama and Winthrop as well as the extensive Methow Trails system.

Pets are not allowed.

EV charger:

Emporia Level 2 Charger, 48 amp, with two connectors
