About this property
Linda Vista - beautiful mountain home in Mazama
Summary:
Linda Vista is a three-bedroom mountain home on 6 acres near the Freestone Inn in Mazama. "Linda Vista" means "beautiful view”, and the home offers panoramic views of the Methow Valley and mountains. With direct access to the Methow Trails system, guests can enjoy world-class cross-country skiing out the door. In summer, it’s a short drive to the iconic North Cascades hiking trailheads. This eco-friendly retreat features a wraparound porch, and an inviting ambiance for indoor and outdoor living.
The Space:
Linda Vista has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and sleeps 7. The master bedroom features a king-size bed and master bath. On the second floor one bedroom has a queen-size bed and a twin bed. The other bedroom features a queen-size bed and a writing desk. An upstairs office has a desk and a sofa. A fully equipped kitchen, spacious great room, washer/dryer, Wi-Fi, and other amenities make this a delightful retreat for families and friends. The wraparound porch connects the inside and outside and offers great views of the nearby mountains.
Linda Vista is an eco-friendly home that utilizes an extremely efficient geothermal heating and cooling system, water-saving toilets, and native plant landscaping. Linda Vista has a Sonos Wi-Fi sound system that guests can use. In addition, the property has a backup generator that will automatically turn on if the power goes out. This is a tremendous asset in Mazama, where power outages are common.
We provide games, maps and guidebooks to help you select the best trails for walking, skiing, and biking. Bring slippers.
The Neighborhood:
Linda Vista is located at the Wilson Ranch, home of the Freestone Inn and many beautiful private cabins. Guests have access to the hot tub and the swimming pool at the Freestone Inn and can swim, kayak, and paddleboard at nearby Freestone Lake. Bring your own kayak and/or paddleboard.
In the summer it’s a 17-minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 19 minutes to Washington Pass and 25 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead (*drive times according to google maps), making this one of the closest rental cabins to the North Cascades National Park and the Pasayten Wilderness and their many world-class hiking trails. Linda Vista is ideally located for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.
Linda Vista also offers easy access to North Cascade Heli, which is located ½ mile away on the Wilson Ranch. North Cascade Heli offers quick access to over 300,000 acres of premium skiing and snowboarding in the wild heart of the North Cascades.
If you prefer, slower, quieter forms of winter recreation, there is an extensive system of snowshoe trails just outside your door at Linda Vista.
If you prefer traditional alpine skiing, the Loup Loup ski area is 37 miles away and offers 1240 vertical feet and 10 cut runs. You can Nordic ski here too. Kids 12 and under can alpine or Nordic ski for free.
The Mazama Store, with its great bakery and ‘a little bit of everything good’ is just a 5-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride from the cabin; or around 20 minutes by skis (depending on how fast you slide and glide). Mountain bike and ski rentals are also available in Mazama.
The old west town of Winthrop is 15 miles and under 20 minute’s drive down valley, with its great shopping, bakery and dining establishments. The Shafer Museum is also worth a visit to learn about the local history. Winthrop has a fun ice-skating rink and is the jumping off point for Methow Rafting’s raft and float tubing on the Methow River. Winthrop’s annual calendar of events includes the Rhythm and Blues Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Memorial Day Rodeo, and Christmas at the End of the Road (check the town’s website for details).
