Ski-In Ski-out, near Mazama Store and trail system!
Welcome to our tranquil retreat, nestled on 5 sprawling acres with breathtaking views and peaceful surroundings! We're so excited for you to experience the magic of our home. Please read all of the listing description and other sections of information before you book so you will have a better idea of what to expect and what it is not allowed.
Mazama is a very special and beautiful place, but it is not a rural version of city amenities. So, before we do anything, let's get some of the potential downsides (depending on your pov) out of the way.
This place is in the boonies, and in some ways it is about as close as you can get to being off grid, without being off the grid. One of the things that means is that the internet/wifi is not good here. That means that often the signal is weak and it is pretty common for the internet to be down completely. By booking this property you are saying that you understand this and are prepared for there to be very poor or no internet. If it's down or slow that is just how it's going to be and we won't be doing any trouble shooting. Also by booking this property you are saying you have read and are okay with all the information for this VRBO listing which includes, but is not limited to, weather and fire details.
We are on the waiting list to get better internet with a different company but that probably won't happen until late 2026 at the earliest. Our suggestion is that you embrace the opportunity to be untethered from your devices. If you must have internet for work or you need to binge Netflix etc, then Mazama probably isn't the place for you. P.S. the password for books, board games and jig saw puzzles is FREEDOM. 😉
A Few Housekeeping Notes for a Smooth Stay: To ensure everyone has a wonderful and respectful experience, please keep these guidelines in mind:
* No parties or events. Our home is designed for peaceful getaways, and we can only host the number of guests specified in your reservation. * We love furry friends, but this isn't the right place for them, so no pets, please. * For everyone's comfort and safety, smoking and open fires are strictly prohibited. * Please remember you're staying in someone's home. We ask that you treat it with the same care and respect you would your own, even if ours doesn't look new or fancy (it is neither).
Embrace the Rural Charm (and Plan Accordingly!) Our home is truly in the heart of the woods, offering a unique opportunity to disconnect and reconnect with nature. Here's what to expect:
* We'll say it again: Wi-Fi tends to be rustic. We're in a beautiful, rural area, and our internet isn't reliable. Expect spotty or no Wi-Fi. If strong, consistent internet is essential for your trip, please plan for alternatives. Cell phone reception is also hit and miss.
* Nature is your neighbor: Because we're nestled in the middle of the woods, you might encounter more insects than you're used to in a city. You might also spot local wildlife like marmots (they've been a bit mischievous the last couple of years!) or even a bear. Don't be surprised to see signs of their presence. * Water pressure can vary: During peak summer times, our shared well can lead to lower water pressure. It's usually not an issue, but something to be aware of!
Winter Wonderland Considerations: If you're visiting during the snowy season, be prepared for a true winter experience!
* Winter driving skills are a must: Expect ice, slush, deep snow, and the possibility of getting snowed in. You'll need inclement winter driving experience, snow tires, 4x4, and/or chains, and we recommend carrying sand.
* Plowing takes time: Our plow service is excellent but has many customers. During heavy or continuous snowfall, it can take a while for them to reach our property. There are no on-call services for snow plowing. The driveway MUST be clear of cars, gear etc for the snowplow to get through. Please do not throw rocks or other objects onto the driveway, it will damage their snowplow.
* Be ready to shovel: There's a shovel on the porch for your use. If the county plow leaves a snow berm at the end of the driveway, you should be prepared to shovel your way out. There is no on-call service for berm removal. Weather conditions can change quickly which can mean freeze thaw cycles and icy conditions so watch your step and your driving. Things can get slick quickly and easily.
Your Neighbors & Quiet Enjoyment: Our property includes an attached, (units are locked out from each other) separately rented studio with its own entrance. * For ultimate privacy, you might consider renting the studio as well, if it's available. * While we ask all guests to be mindful of noise, especially during quiet hours from 9 PM to 8 AM, please understand that people have different definitions of "too much noise." You may have neighbors in the studio during your stay.
Understanding Our Cancellation Policy: We truly want your trip to be stress-free! * Please review our cancellation policy carefully on the VRBO listing. * We highly recommend considering travel insurance to protect your trip against unforeseen circumstances like smoky air, road closures, flight delays, or work issues. We cannot offer refunds outside of our stated cancellation guidelines. * If you cancel within the cancellation period and choose not to purchase travel insurance, and we are able to rebook any portion of your dates, we will happily refund you for those rebooked nights.
Check-Out is Prompt at 10 AM: To ensure our cleaners have enough time to prepare for our next guests, our 10 AM check-out time is firm. Departures after this time will incur a late check-out fee. We also cannot accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs due to our cleaning schedule.
Your Home Away From Home: Details & Amenities
Our spacious and welcoming home, built in the early 90s, offers a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. While it boasts a charming 90s vibe (aside from some updated appliances!), it's not a brand-new, architecturally refined showpiece. It's a lived in, cherished home, and we ask you to treat it as such!
Sleeping & Living Areas: * Three comfortable bedrooms: You'll find one queen bed and two king beds. One of the king bedrooms also has a queen sleeper sofa. * Spacious "Loft" on the third floor: This fantastic area includes a queen bed, a double bed, and another double sleeper sofa. It's also where you'll find the main TV (there's an additional TV in the King Master bedroom in the basement). Seating areas on this floor include a couch and a chaise lounge.
Kitchen & Dining: * Dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, tea kettle, baking dishes * Gas oven and range * Cutlery, dishes, and wine glasses * A dining table that comfortably seats 8. * There's also a landline phone located in this living area for your convenience. A note for families with little ones: Please supervise children closely. Our home has standard electrical outlets, a balcony in the loft, and porches/railings with some height. Please avoid rearranging furniture. It's tough on our cleaners to put everything back, so we'd appreciate it if you left things as they are.
Outdoor Living: Step out onto the large deck off the dining area/kitchen to enjoy the fresh air! * You'll find comfortable outdoor seating areas. * A propane barbecue grill for your culinary adventures. * A propane fire pit table (please note: the fire pit and outdoor furniture are stored away in the winter due to snow). * A lovely lawn extends from the back deck, perfect for enjoying the views.
Local Delights & Endless Recreation: You're in for a treat with our fantastic location! * The delightful Mazama Store is just 1.5 miles down the road. It's not a full grocery store, but it's perfect for fresh produce, beer, wine, snacks, delicious grab-and-go items, and some dry goods. * You'll find a couple of charming restaurants near the Mazama Store and about a dozen more options in Winthrop, just 20 minutes away. Get ready for some "off the hook" recreation! * Hiking and mountain biking trails are minutes from your doorstep. * Explore nearby fishing spots, rafting, stand-up paddleboarding, and swimming holes. * The breathtaking North Cascades National Park is easily accessible via Highway 20 during the summer months. We can't wait to host you!

My family of 10 had a great time in this cabin, the kitchen was not as clean as I would have liked but overall we had a great stay, we all fit perfectly and the outdoor area was really nice. I would stay here again.
Nestled in the woods this cabin's location is awesome. It is very quiet and spacious. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
We have a large family and celebrated an early Christmas with our Winthrop children. The house was cozy and easily accommodated our family and busy grandchildren. We liked the open concept and private bedrooms. Enjoyed our stay!
Great place in a great location! We loved everything Mazama and the surrounding area has to offer. Goat Wall View worked well for our two families of four. Kids aged 8, 10, 12 and 12 loved having the loft area to hang out. Plenty of comfortable seating out on the back porch for all of us to gather. Beautiful, well-maintained property. Great place to stay, would book again!

Thanks for staying with us. It's a good place to unplug, unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle. I think that's what draws many visitors to the valley, plus the recreation. Safe travels.

Great property, amazing location surrounded by trees and wilderness. Property is well maintained, with all necessary things. We really enjoyed fire pit outside in the evening. Property has great upstairs for group of people to hangout together.
This house has a great location for cross-country skiing right from the front door. The trail system right across the street has great skiing and beautiful views. There were plenty of beds and a large kitchen table to seat our two families. We enjoyed our stay
and would like to return to the Methow Valley again!

So happy to have hosted you in this magical corner of the world! This place was meant for it
We adored this house and location! It’s close to Mazama if we needed to go to the small local store. It feels so private placed back in the woods, and everything about this house was so warm and comfortable. Accurate descriptions, easy to find, and easy checkin process. 10/10 would recommend!
Very nice house, enough space for our group of three families. Very relaxing place. We enjoyed our stay very much. A tiny issue was with WiFi. T-Mobile does not have signal in the whole area, typical T-Mobile problem but WiFi was pretty week so don’t plan to work on your vacation 😊. Otherwise Great place!
We came as a family with grandparents, sisters, brother and lots of kids. This home had enough room for us all! It’s in the heart of mazama. It has everything we need for our trip to North Casxades. Everything was as described. It is not the ritz, but feels like a home. We enjoyed our time here very much!
This place was perfect for our family of 10. The hostess was very communicative, the house was wonderful. Plenty of towels. Plenty of linens. The washing machine had amazing capacity and the fact that there was two dryers was the icing on the cake. So close to the park and we saw marmots in the yard!
Had Texas family here...drive North Cascade Loop. Spent afternoon in Winthrop, headed to Leavenworth today then back to Tacoma. Last minute decision to make it a 2 day trip and so happy we found this spot. It was described as ski cabin...but so much more! Three floors, could sleep 13, fun Bohemian/Zen/Western theme. Kitchen better furnished than our home! Loved the Indian textiles. Would like to plan another trip and visit.
This was a great house! Lots of room to spread out - the kitchen/dining was very spacious. The decks were great. For the kids, it was nice the house was set back from the road - they could ride their bikes, etc. around the property. We did some hikes up the road and also biked (leaving from the Mazama Store). We love this area, and we were happy with the house. The host responded quickly to my questions.
Perfectly situated for our trail run. Plenty of room for all of us (8). Well equipped in the kitchen. Plenty of blanket, towels, pillows. We had a wonderful stay in this zen house.
I fell in love with The Methow and Mazama in particular about 12 years ago. It has been my dream to have a home here and it was realized this year. I feel incredibly blessed to have found this beautiful property so close to Mazama store and the ski meadow.
I love traveling, hiking, and cross country skiing. I was born and raised in Alaska so outdoor beauty and snow are in my blood!
My favorite place in the world, besides The Methow Valley, is Ireland. I have traveled there many times and plan on going back and spending a lot more time there. I love very old things and ancient pre-history. In 2015 I backpacked the West Highland Way in Scotland solo and look forward to doing that again either on my own or with a few friends.
I hope you have a wonderful time in the Methow, whether with friends, family or on your own and I am delighted to share Goat Wall View with you!
Why they chose this property
So close to the Mazama Store and ski meadow, ~1.5 miles away! Stunning Goat Wall is right behind the property. Expansive lawn for games, lounging, yoga, meditation, dancing. Lots of room for friends and family.
What makes this property unique
This property can be rented for events and has an extra outbuilding with bathrooms and sinks that can be rented. There is also a separate, very large parking area just down the driveway on approaching the house.
Weddings, family reunions, retreats. So many possibilities. Huge lawn for activities. Contact me if you would like to rent the entire property for an event. We would love to discuss the possibilities with you.
