Property had it all - dock, swimming, fishing, fire pit, grill, games, gorgeous cabin with all amenities. Hosts also had little extras like plenty of coffee, toothbrushes, towels, blankets, etc. You truly felt in a cabin retreat. Highly recommend. Town had a great grocery store, friendly people and always felt safe. You and your group can get what everyone wants at this place... Property was amazing.
The ad makes you believe there’s lots to do. Unless you want to spend a day of driving then you will find stuff to do. There is no privacy. The queen bed is in the middle of a room that looks like it use to be a living room. You can brush your teeth, go to the bathroom and take a shower at the same time the bathroom is so small. The deck stairs are not the same width so be careful walking down them. Fake fingernails and trash was under the bed. There was also trash under the coffee table in the living room. It was quite obvious there is just surface cleaning being done. It’s not conducive for elderly at all. My dad who is a young 82 year old even said that he wouldn’t want to stay there if he had a walker etc, and the bathroom wouldn’t work for an elderly person at all. It was very peaceful. If you like sitting on the porch you should be good. The grass was ankle deep and it was so wonderful to have the lawn guy come the Friday morning before we left to sit out front with his diesel truck to fumigate us while we were enjoying coffee on the porch. Then we had to listen to the lawn mower, the weed eater and don’t forget the blower. This stuff should have been done before we arrived not during our stay. Everything is on a hill so sitting by the camp fire you are slanted and very uncomfortable. The fire wood isn’t protected so it’s wet . We went and bought dry wood. If you are looking for nothing to do and peace and quiet this is the place
Perfect stay at Douglas Lake. Property has private lake access & dock in a peaceful neighborhood. House had everything we needed & more. Would stay here again for sure!
Had a nice stay at the property, simple place in a quiet cove of the lake, just what I wanted. The only disappointment was the water level as I couldn’t dock the boat directly on-site as planned, understanding it’s outside the property owners control but would have benefited from earlier notice of it being that low. All in all though it was a great experience for my family!
We spent 5 nights and it was great! Very nice and clean. The location is amazing! We brought kayaks and a jet ski. The personal doc made everything so easy!! Making two teenagers happy is always a struggle but this place was perfect. Yes the comments about a small bathroom are correct but my 6’1” 230 pound lineman was able to shower with not too many complaints. Go outside and enjoy!!! We will be back!!!!
Totally inappropriate for small kids. We didn’t stay at the cabin. I called to cancel the reservation because it was way different than the pictures and dangerous for the kids. I asked for a refund .
The view of this little lake house was perfect. It was such a relaxing and quiet spot that was a great getaway for our family. The property was clean and exactly as expected. We hope to be back next year!
The waterfront aspect was excellent. Close to downtown Dandridge and about a 45 minute drive to Gatlingburg. Nice views of the lake and the mountains in the background. Only complaint would be a small bathroom but it’s manageable.
We really enjoyed our time at this lovely house! The house was so clean and just right for my family. We loved being on the lake and the view was fantastic. The owners where great to work with and where so great answering all my questions!! We will definitely be back!
We were looking for a small home for a fishing trip for my son and I. The house was nice for that. House felt clean. Was nice having a private dock to dock the boat at. Check in and out was simple and easy.
Couple notes for those looking at the property. The bathroom is small...like very, very small. If you're a larger guy like me, it's quite uncomfortably small. It works, but just something to be aware of beforehand. It's much smaller than the photo even appears to look. There is very little space between the sink, toilet, and tub.
If bringing a boat/trailer...you'll want to launch the boat before trying to pull in the driveway. The "circle" driveway is really just a very tight corner up a very steep hill to the side of the house. With a 19' boat, it took quite a bit of finagling to manage to get around the house safely. The driveway enters at an angle downhill, so backing the boat out isn't the most comfortable option either. Launch the boat, then pull the trailer in where you can unhook the trailer and turn it around by hand to pull out when ready would be my advice.
Speaking of launching the boat...there are a couple local launches, but would be nice to have directions to them in the property notes as there are some private ones as well nearby that are posted. And getting turned around on those small streets would be a nightmare with a boat/trailer as there is very little room to maneuver. Luckily we ran into a launch we could use. Just having some directions/instructions with the check in notes would keep from a lot of stress.
Speaking of having a boat...it would be nice to have a power outlet near the dock for charging the boat battery. You'll need at least 250' of extension cord on hand to reach the nearest outside outlet.
Other than those couple things, if you're looking for a little lakeside home with a private dock, then this one will suit fine.
We had such a great time! The location was EXCATLY what we wanted something away from the hustle and bustle of our regular city life. We where able to gather with family and just relax, which is something we haven’t done since 2020 lol The owners where very sweet and helpful there was enough space for us all. The view and atmosphere was incredible, we plan to go back in the summer so we can enjoy the lake/view at its best. With the water being low in the lake we where able to venture out and explore. One of us even found a turtle shell and a beautiful heart shaped rock. 10 put of 10 would stay here again
The house is located in a cove and had the water been up the dock would have been usable. They had just drained the lake apparently. But there was a boat launch not to far away for us to put the boat in. The house was clean and cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable! The bathroom is tiny but fine for just the 2 of us. We liked that there were TV's in both bedrooms. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook with and store leftovers. Bring pods for the Keurig coffee machine. The view was great! We had a nice relaxing stay.
We enjoyed our stay! The children had so much fun! There is a gentle slope to the water with a beach area which is great for the children. The water was perfect for swimming and play! We had everything we needed. The host answered any questions we had and is very nice! We will be coming again very soon. Thank you!!

Quirky Nice
This was our first trip to Douglas Lake. We went to go boating out on the lake. We had gotten there early and cleaning crew was still there. That was not a problem. We were early! We had taken boat down and got right in the water. We used the boat ramp that was in the email upon arrival. The ramp was scetchy. If you could find another one close you might want to do that. We went out on the water for the day. The neighbourhood and neighbors were awful! We weren't for sure what house was ours coming back from the lake and pulled up to the wrong dock. The neighbors went crazy yelling and screaming! We literally just had no idea what house we had rented. When asking the neighbor guy he still was rude! That was unfortunate. The house was small but cute. The queen bedroom did not have a closed door. That was strange and uncomfortable.
The second lot for our boat was also scetchy going down the hill. You will want to make sure to have a truck and not too big of a boat. The bathroom was very small but we managed.
We are from out of state and just did not have a good experience on the lake. You could tell out of towners were not "welcomed".
Overall, the host email was easy to follow. We just wish we had a better atmospheric experience on Douglas.
Bathroom is somewhat a challenge and the master bedroom there’s no privacy. But overall a very nice place with easy lake access.

My Father, who was a firefighter for 40 years in Knoxville,Tennessee, built this Lake House for our Family and Friends to come and enjoy. When he passed in 2020, we wanted to be able to honor his memory and open up this property for what he built it for. Now, your Family and Friends who love Fishing, Boating, and all who love the Lake, can come and enjoy this special property. We are constantly making upgrades and improving the Lake House so when you choose us, you help us honor our Dad's vision (Pop's Place) , and we want to help you create for your friends and family the happy fun memories we have made over the years. Hope to see you at the Lake !!!!!
Why they chose this property
Our Lake house is a small Hidden Gem back in a quite cove off Douglas Lake's Main channel. We have local neighbors and those who come from far and wide. Easy boat access and a private dock to pull your boat up when lake levels are up and still views to main channel when levels are down in fall. Quite, peaceful setting to relax and unwind.
What makes this property unique
Local interest and history, yet close to Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Dandridge is the second oldest town in Tennessee and sits directly on Douglas Lake. Our Lake House is in a quiet cove and is a Hidden Gem. Much to offer and only a beautiful 30 minute drive to the Pigeon Forge area, Dollywood and Gatlinburg. Historic towns, the Marina, and antiques shops are on the scenic drive or simply come down I-40 West, two exits away to 407 and choose from 1000 things to do.
