Lake Michigan Sunset View Cottage, Tunnel of Trees, Good Hart. Easement to Lake.
Secluded four-bedroom cottage for rent on 4 acres. We are 12 miles north of Harbor Springs on scenic M-119, the nationally-renowned "Tunnel of Trees" in Good Hart, Michigan. The location is a favorite for cyclists (e.g., the last leg of the DALMAC bike tour). It is also a favorite for fall color tours. It has spectacular Lake Michigan views, with numerous deciduous hardwood and softwood trees and evergreens.
Nearly 2,000 sq. ft., the house features beautiful sunset-facing Lake Michigan views from most rooms. Our setting also features a nice sunset-viewing deck with a fire pit. Given three living spaces, the cottage layout is excellent for multi-generational or multi-family use.
There are four bedrooms and three full baths. Two have bidets. The main bedroom has a king-sized, luxurious pillowtop bed, high-quality towels and bed linens, a walk-in closet, and an adjoining full bath. There are three queen-sized pillowtop beds in the remaining three bedrooms—a contemporary finished basement that includes a game room with a hide-a-bed and roll-a-way bed, and 3rd bathroom with a shower. The home can be used as a remote and secluded home office. High-speed internet, a printer, and some office supplies are provided. Have Lake Michigan as your view!
The kitchen has a refrigerator, gas oven/range, dishwasher, microwave, and a tight table that seats six. Additional seating is available in the spacious living room (up to eight). We also provide a portable table and chairs. However, please keep in mind that our desired maximum rental capacity is eight persons. The main floor has a washer and dryer. There are 4 HDTVs throughout the house (including a 62-inch TV with a surround sound stereo system in the basement). There is one TV equipped with Apple TV and three with Roku (available to stream Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, etc., plus local TV channels) and Blu-Ray DVD players, four stereo systems, and a basement gaming area with a ping pong table and a card table - offering all the creature comforts of home. The cottage owner supplies bed linen, bath towels, cooking, and eating utensils.
The house is 400 feet from the Tunnel of Trees (M119) on a heavily wooded lot offering secluded privacy. The private beach easement is located below the property. Two township beaches are within one mile of the cottage. These access points allow for nice beachcombing—plenty of public and semi-private golf courses within easy driving distance. Recreational inland lakes (Burt Lake, Crooked Lake, Pickerel Lake, Larks Lake, Douglas Lake, and others) are nearby. Renting a boat and floating on the Inland Waterway is an excellent summer adventure.
There are lovely, unique shops and a General Store within walking distance.
The cottage is 20 minutes from Boyne Highlands golf and skiing (weather permitting). It is a mere seven miles south of the famed Legs Inn, Cross Village, and eight miles north of Pond Hill Farm and Harbor Springs Winery. Enjoy glass blowing at Good Hart Glass Works or crafting at Three Pines Studio.
This property has a game camera located away from the house. The game camera picks up plenty of deer and driveway traffic.

Thank you! Comfort, serenity, access to the coast, and wonderful views of Lake Michigan and its sunsets are what we strive to achieve. Come on back some time!
We enjoyed our stay at the house with our large family of young adults/older teens. The area is quiet but close enough to action if you want it. We loved the Church beach and spending time on the outside deck. We would stay again.
This is a beautiful piece of property overlooking Lake Michigan sunsets. The house has plenty of cooking area with a well-supplied kitchen. The three full bathrooms makes group living easy. The beds are comfortable. There are plenty of sitting areas both inside and outside. There is plenty of outside space for lawn games. Access to the lake is an easy car ride away but can be walked if you don't mind a hill. Our group has been there 3 years in a row and has already signed up for our 4th year.

Thank you for your kind comments and return business.
Even in the winter the sunset patio was a great place for an evening drink. Lots of room and places for people to relax. The basement and games were great entertainment.

Awe. We appreciate your annual business! Thank you for your fabulous review.
It was a nice quiet place in the woods with a view of Lake Michigan. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes and pans. There were useful things like spices and dish soap and laundry soap. We enjoyed the ping pong table and the gaming table and it was nice to have a table big enough for puzzles that wasn't also where we had to eat. Sunset on the deck was very nice! We saw a lot of deer. The "church beach" was just what we needed.

Thank you for your informative comments. It is great to hear that other families enjoy the basement gaming area. It can take away the blues on an unexpected rainy summer day or a cold winter day. Please consider a return trip sometime.
We had a great time in the quiet hamlet of Good Hart. The back yard was full of wildlife, beautiful trees, fantastic deck with grill and comfortable seating. The house was comfortable, clean and well stocked. Nice walk to the two beaches and all kinds of hiking/walking trails. The view of Lake Michigan was over the top.

Comfortable and relaxing
We had a nice time as we always do at this property. Two weeks every summer for 20+ years.
This property was everything and more of what it says.
Kitchen, and bathrooms well stocked, and the beds were very comfortable.
We had a fabulous time just sitting and looking out in Lake Michigan and seeing amazing sunset.
Will be back again

Thank you! We are glad you enjoyed your stay. Do come back!
Property was clean and very roomy. A bit outdated but had a rustic charm. Overall, the accommodations were very good in meeting our needs. Access to the beach was a bit farther away than we would have preferred, but the beach was spectacular! Beach was sandy spacious with no rocks. We all enjoyed our stay! Thank you. :-)

Thank you for your comments. We agree that the time is ripe for some interior layout, furniture, and window treatment upgrades. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Well organized, beautiful house . Plenty of space to leave hobbies and books in progress in between hikes. We enjoyed meals at small local restaurants a few times. Everything I want for cooking and baking is provided.
Sunsets are beautiful.
Cottage was roomy, super clean and furnished with anything we needed. The view was stunning and lots of spots to sit and enjoy. No access to the lake on the property but the beach is a 2 minute drive away. Mesmerizing sunsets every night, lake breezes, bonfires and the quaint Good Hart General store is a 5 minute walk away. Couldn't ask for anything more. We can absolutely see why people come back every year.

Clean, comfy, cozy cottage with amazing sunset view
The cottage was the perfect location for our family gathering. There was abundant space and comfy beds for 6 adults. The sunset deck and fire pit were great and used each day to enjoy mother nature’s end of day show. The beach is a quick 4 minute drive away. The Good Hart store is a 5 minute walk away. If you are looking for a relaxing, nostalgic stay in Good Hart this spot is a great choice!

Thank you for choosing our cottage for your return to Good Hart and for all the views, history, and character it provides. It is truly a unique place. We hope you will return more often.
Seven of us who went to college together in the early 70’s had our annual gathering at this home. The home was a great size with lots of room for a group to gather. It was very comfortable. But the best thing about this house is the magnificent views from the patio. The yard and patio area are fabulous. If you are in the area I would highly recommend the Pointer boat tour in Harbor Springs.

Thank you for the great guest suggestion. We take pride in our view. And, yes the house is set up to allow for numerous gathering spots or places for people to work remotely while others may be vacationing! We hope you will think about a return trip.
Windward is a clean, comfortable cottage with amazing views of Lake Michigan. Lots of nice kitchen utensils, tools for cooking and baking. Watching birds, going for hikes, long bicycle rides (and space to work on the bike on the porch). Hubbie saw Northern Lights for the first time. Friendly, interesting small businesses and restaurants nearby.

We are always happy to have you stay. We appreciate your support of Little Traverse Conservancy, other preserves, and local shops. What a bonus to see the Northern Lights! We have been blessed with many sightings this past year.
This home is located (in the woods just off SR119) about half-way along the Tunnel of Trees, and convenient for excursions to Mackinaw City, Harbor Springs, and Petoskey. With 4 bedrooms, it can easily house 8 adults. It is incredibly well equipped with everything we needed to cook and play. The owner was helpful and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed hikes in several nearby state parks, shopping in up-scale stores, and dinners in very good restaurants within 1/2 hour drive. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Why they chose this property
This property was purchased shortly after Pat cycled the DALMAC, and was introduced to the beauty of M 119 and Emmet County. It has brought many years of enjoyment to her friends and family.
What makes this property unique
This property has fabulous sunset views of Lake Michigan. It has plenty of space indoors and out for large families to gather together and find their own area to enjoy their own time. It is located along the famous M119 Tunnel of Trees. One of the most beautiful drives in the nation. This location is also a great remote home office. The location is in the heart of great numerous preserves for hiking given all the Little Traverse Conservancy properties https://landtrust.org/nature-preserve-map.
