Scott and Tara are warm and welcoming hosts. Everything was as pictured and described. It was so lovely to have such a peaceful place to return to each evening after our island adventures. My husband had a minor mishap on one of our outings and Tara went over-and-above by providing some basic first aid supplies to tide us over until the next day when we could get our own. SO appreciated! We loved sitting on the lanai and soaking in the night sounds and visiting the nearby cliffs. The bed was comfortable and the unit was very private. Loved our stay!
Very cute and quiet stay! The unit is adorable and the area is gorgeous and green. Very walkable area with friendly people. Hope to stay again next time I am in town.
This was one of the best VRBO's we've stayed at & we travel a lot! Tara & Steve thought of everything! The place is very private, like your own little oasis. It's decorated so cute. Lots of attention to detail. Easy to find on GPS. Nice sitting area with TV. Could be used as a second bedroom. There are privacy curtains. The bed was very comfy. Plenty of pillows. Lots of space to hang clothes plus plenty of drawers for clothes. Nice bedside tables with drawers also. The bathroom was great. Shower pressure perfect. Double sinks with plenty of light. There were lotions, sunscreen, bug spray, body wash, shampoo, conditioner. The kitchenette is small but ample for microwave dinners. The fridge is compact but has a freezer. There's a coffee maker & water filtration system. They provide a cooler, beach chairs, games, they have it all! There is no AC but the ceiling fans & Woozoo fan were plenty. It's nice & cool at night. They also provide ear plugs if you don't care for the coqui frogs. They can get pretty loud but they were music to our Midwestern ears. It's also 3 blocks from lava cliffs with some awesome views & waves. Down the street a piece is Maku'u Point that's a definite place to visit. Lots of great places to eat in Kea'au & Pahoa. Tara has a detailed handbook with places to go & eateries! Highly recommend staying with Tara & Steve. They are right upstairs & available. Such great hosts! Thanks for having us! Mahalo!
Mahalo for staying with us! Although we are a few miles from the highway at the bottom of Hawaiian Paradise Park, we encourage guests to engage with the beautiful ocean that’s nearby, take a walk along the lava cliffs, watch the drama of the ocean waves and watch for whales during peak season. The trailhead to the Shipman hike is less than a 1/4 mile away if you want to see lots of turtles.
Super nice place at a very nice price. Gorgeous ocean cliffs close by. If you don't need a full kitchen, this is your place! Tara and Steve great hosts!
The house is clean and the property owners are great.

Mahalo for you review Jody! We would love to hear how we could have earned a 5 star review from you. We strive to exceed expectations and be a memorable part of your Big Island experience. Aloha
We planned this vacation with the intention of doing as little as possible and this little hideaway in HPP was perfect for doing just that. Tara was friendly and communicative and made sure we had everything we needed.
Aloha! So happy that we found this gem available - it’s very private and tucked away. It has a lovely outdoor seating area- nice sofa and TV area- nice spacious bedroom with closet, dresser and luggage racks- cozy kitchen nook with small fridge and microwave, coffee maker, dishes etc… bathroom and shower also very nice. All freshly decorated- it’s very clean and for me- very important- no overwhelming fragrance/Febreze scents! We will definitely stay here again when on this part of the BI. Tara is lovely and kind, we very much enjoyed our introduction and chat. You cannot go wrong staying here- it’s everything I look for when booking a vacation stay. Mahalo!
Had an amazing stay here! We felt like we were staying in a 5 start hotel with all the recent updates they did. Bed was comfy, kitchenette had everything we needed and they even left us ear plugs for the frogs at night HAHA I'm already planning to come back with my Mother later this spring! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay Tara!

Taras place was exactly as described, she is also very friendly and gave us helpful advices and suggestions. It was a beautiful location near many natural places to visit, including the beautiful lava cliffs, and an amazing hike along the Puna trail to turtle paradise. The room was clean, comfortable cozy, and well set up with so many thoughtful details. We enjoyed the morning quality coffee on the deck listening to the many birds and hanging out with the geckos! My girlfriend generally has a hard time sleeping but slept very well in the comfortable bed in the place. Next time we visit Hilo, we would stay there again and recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay south of Hilo in a peaceful area.
Wonderful hosts and absolutely beautiful accommodations with a private patio.
The neighborhood is out in the country; you will hear frogs at night and birdsong at sunrise. It’s a short walk to cliffs overlooking the ocean and a 3 mile hike to a very secluded beach.
No stove but there is a microwave, mini-fridge, Keurig coffee maker and water dispenser.
It’s centrally located with a 30 minute drive to Hilo and a 45 minute drive to Volcanoes National Park.

You were absolutely lovely guests that we would love to host again if you are ever back on the east side of the Big Island! Mahalo!
Summary: We had an excellent time and hope to return. Highly recommend!
Details:
Very well appointed, lots of sweet touches, beautifully curated.
Completely no smoking and no vaping location.
Separate side entrance to their home - private, a beautiful view of garden, Birdsong all the time, spectacular sunrises and easy walking to cliffs or hiking trails.
Clean with lots of creature comforts. The most comfortable pull-out bed I have ever experienced!
Important things to note:
No air conditioning – but multiple high-quality ceiling fans and very good airflow across all the windows.
No kitchen – we jerryrigged some snack prep, but it encouraged us to enjoy the many local farmers markets and restaurants.
No laundry onsite - another opportunity to go in town to the local laundromat and have new experiences.
It is a drive away from any commercial district or services - the advantage is no one comes down those roads unless they have reason to be there, making it easy to go take a leisurely walk and feel like you’re on the edge the world. Everyone gives a little wave to everyone else.
At night it is pitch dark and you can see a spectacular amount of stars. Driving back at night, the good news is that right across from their driveway is a little fruit stand and little library - an excellent marker!
Hosts are on site - we sometimes crossed paths in the driveway and they were extremely helpful and friendly.
They provided complimentary drinking water which was a huge advantage to reducing plastic waste, compared to having to buy water separately and lug it to the rental.
Goodies to be borrowed - boogie boards, beach chairs, food cooler! There is a hose on the side of the house to rinse off sand from the beach.
In summary, this space seemed created carefully and thoughtfully by people who love to travel and want to make sure their guests are well taken care of. I felt that with every subtle touch I noticed in the space, and warmth with which they welcomed us.
The fact that the hosts were kind, available and responsive only added to how great our experience was.
We can’t wait to come back! Please enjoy the Birdsong for us!

Celia, we absolutely loved hosting the two of you and hope you will come back to stay again. You brought joy and light with you to the Big Island! Mahalo!
Our stay at Kaloli Point was amazing! We loved the space, location was so peaceful and a nice retreat from the crazy world. We would definitely recommend to all and would stay here again.
We love to adventure and experience all that Hawaii Island has to offer. We are excited to be able to share our special place in paradise with vacationing guests.
Why they chose this property
Kaloli Point, a neighborhood within Hawaiian Paradise Park, is known as the sunbelt of the east side of Hawaii Island. More sunny days and less rain makes walking to the cliffs or adventuring on the Shipman/Haena hike much more enjoyable! Just a few miles from Highway 130 and Highway 11 make exploring the Puna District easy! It's the gateway to places such as Isaac Hale Beach Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, or the scenic Hamakua Coast.
