Thanks Chris! We love our repeat guests. So glad you and the guys made it back again this year for a fishing weekend. Hopefully we will be able to host you again next October.
We have stayed in a few places on folly over the past 10 years and this one is our favorite! We spent the mornings watching the dolphins, the afternoons on the beach and evenings were spent fishing. We would definitely book this house again!

Memorable Stay at Folly River Home
Overall I thought this was a lovely property. The views of Folly River and the Morris Island light house make this property exceptional, but other features such as a great kitchen, beautiful master suite and super fun game room make this a perfect house for a family or small group of friends. The house is very private and a short walk to the beach. Would rent again!

We are so glad you enjoyed your visit! The dock is perfect for launching your paddle boards, canoes and kayaks. Don't own these items? There are several reputable companies on the island that will deliver them. This home offers something for everyone!

Thanks Chris! You can't beat having the option to fish off the dock or heading to the beach. Then in the evenings, you have the bonus of an open floor plan with a fantastic game room for a friendly game of pool or ping pong. Spacious dining room seating or optional game table for some cards or dominoes. So glad you guys had a nice weekend. Look forward to having you back in 2019!
What a great property! Beautiful views, convenient location to the 13th street beach access. Quiet location and loved the fenced in yard for our dog! We utilized the dock to view gorgeous sunsets and to paddle board. Game room was a plus and we used it often. The beds were comfortable and kitchen fully stocked. A well appointed house with a quirky/beachy/coastal feel. We would rent here again for sure!
Absolutely stunning property with water views and private dock. House is generously proportioned with comfortable common areas and lovely bedrooms. Fully fenced yard was excellent for dogs. Beach is a short walk and dining/shopping a quick drive down the road. We loved our first time visiting folly beach. Property owner was responsive and helpful. Wonderful rental. Highly recommend.

We love Anne's Booty!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home! All the comforts of home, beautiful views! The game room provided plenty of entertainment on our rainy day, the dock was a great spot for fishing and crabbing, and the beach was so close! We had a slight problem with the golf cart when we arrived, but one quick text message to the owner and they had a brand new one delivered to the house! Excellent service! We would definitely stay again!

So thrilled all had a good time! This home offers plenty of entertainment and the main complaint we get is that nobody ever wants to leave:) Sometimes items succumb to a little wear and tear, but we do our best to quickly address and solve the issue. It's so rewarding to share this little piece of Folly Heaven with those who can appreciate it!

Wonderful family retreat for spring break
Our family of 5 (3 small children) had a wonderful week at this house. It was clean and incredibly well stocked in kitchen and beyond. Beds were very comfortable. Outdoor shower was a hit. View of river was amazing. Walked to beach and found starfish and sand dollars. Kayaked through inlets with dolphins. Michael and Dianne were very responsive and helpful with all questions and needs. Would definitely stay here again.

We are thrilled we were able to share this home with such a lovely family. This destination has it all...feel like your tucked away in a shaded canopy, observe frolicking dolphins near the dock or take an evening stroll on the beach. Thank you for sharing your experience!
We had a great time, we enjoyed fishing from the Dock. We put our kayaks in. The boys loved the ocean. We ate to much.Overall we had a great time. Just a couple of changes that could be made.. the house was very hot at night. We all had a hard time sleeping, you didn’t need any of the covers. We were sweating. Only bedroom that was cool was the loft. The bathrooms also needs doors for more privacy. The hall bath needs a door added back to the hall, so that couple has more privacy. A tv also needs to be added to the guest bedroom. Beautiful home and we will come back. We love Folly Beach.

We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your time at this beautiful deep water home. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions and will take them into consideration. The home has an updated heating and air system, along with a mini-split in the loft. There are also ceiling fans in all bedrooms and the living areas, to make sure air is always flowing. In the heat and humidity of the summer, homes in this area really do require diligence with keeping doors and windows shut and ceiling fans rotating at all times. We haven't had any other guests reach out concerning the air temperature at nights, but we will certainly look into it. Guests do have access to the thermostat, which can be adjusted to an appropriate setting. Thank you again for staying with us!

Lovely home best location on island
We are frequent renters and this is by far one of our favorites. First the bad...there is none. The only problem we had was leaving and the fact we don't own it. Now on to the good. I apologize in advance if this is lengthy but here goes. This house is filled with love. You can sense it as soon as you enter through the fence. The house is set back from the extremely quiet road. Little to no traffic. The yard is natural and lush. Trees that look like they are old and the very essence of days gone by. Upon entering the front door you are greeted by a very up to date kitchen with beautiful granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. Hard wood floors throughout in a wide old world plank. Windows and natural light are plenty and fabulous. The decor is a combination of modern and a little rustic with a sprinkle of antiques. It shouldn't work but somehow it all comes together with an eclectic southern charm. This house is clean. No dust bunnies, rust, mold etc... Even the baseboards are clean. Something I struggle with in my own home. There are small touches throughout that are not only thoughtful but nice. Like a jewelry case in the huge master closet. Not that I have anything to put in it but something I never would have thought of. A pack & play for those with babies. The list is endless. From the lovely quilts to the comfy furniture. This house is by no means stuffy, stark or museum feeling. You want to come in, make yourself at home and put your feet up. In our experience with renting some places are totally wiped out whether by owners or cleaning crew. This is not. There is toilet paper, paper towels, aluminum foil, salt pepper, sugar, spices, hand soap etc....plenty to get you started. Again a very thoughtful gesture. Lastly, the non existent back yard. At least as we know it. This back yard is natures finest. If we sat inside and watched wildlife from one of the many windows our vacation would be complete. But what, if anything, could make it even more fantastic?? A private pier with running water and electricity. Kayak, jet ski or have a boat dropped off right at the dock or just sit and fish. I forgot to mention the ocean is right across the street. We couldn't quiet get enough of this place to really care but it's there. Walk or drive the golf cart. I really need extra space to write all the wonderful things about this house and by the way if it ever goes on the market again...we call dibs. Tee Hee!!!

Wow! Thank you for such wonderful review! We are delighted you had such a wonderful vacation and enjoyed our home. We recently purchased this home and spent a good deal of time repairing and refreshing this year. We found your comments very encouraging and made it worth all the work! We have lots of ideas we hope to implement over the next few years and hope you will return to see them!
We loved our week here. We are avid birders and the best birding on the island was right from the dock. The house is lovely and has everything for a comfortable stay.
Our group enjoyed all the areas of the house, playing pool and games together. It was a great dock with fishing fun every evening and abundant new fish tales! My grandsons caught their first fish! The dolphins were there every day. It was a short shady walk to the beach! If you are looking for great fun, rent this house, and make your own memories!
WE had 9 people the whole time and it was never crowdedThe dock is just a slice of heaven. The boys were fishing all day and catching all kinds of different fish. I have stayed here many times and it just keeps getting better.
Wonderful feeling of seclusion on very busy island. Loved the dock and dolphin visits at low tide. We rented kayaks and paddle boards and were thrilled with dolphins. The kids had fun catching crabs off the dock and renting surf boards and trying them out in the ocean. Pool table also was a hit. Thanks for the magical vacation!
This is a fabulous property! Located on the Marsh side of Folly, the house is beautiful and immaculately clean. The kitchen is very nice and well equipped. The Dock is great, rent a Kayak or bring your own boat. Dolphins play right off the dock, great for an evening cocktail.
Only one negative, there is a beautiful Live Oak overhanging the house, but it drops acorns on the master bedroom. Bring some earplugs for whoever is in that room.

About the host
Hosted by Michael Ray
This beautiful home is managed by Surffish Realty. Surffish Realty is locally owned and operated by Michael Ray. Michael was born and raised in Charleston SC and has owned and lived on Folly Beach with his family since 2006. A small boutique real estate company, Surffish Realty caters to the individual needs of homeowners and guests. Joined by wife Dianne in 2014, we hope to offer a more personal experience to those visiting Folly and the surrounding Charleston Area. We have raised our two children in the surf and pluff mud of the lowcountry and feel extremely blessed to live in this unique community. We are fortunate to be able to offer a variety of homes to those visiting our Island and are grateful to be of service.
Why they chose this property
River Retreat is a rare gem. This home is owned by a unique and loving couple who go to great lengths to offer a home that guests will want to return to time and time again. Jim and Lynn have enjoyed a lifetime of travel and once they discovered Folly Beach they knew they had found a community that they hoped to one day call home. This home on Tabby Drive spoke to them with it's shaded canopy, deep water dock, diverse bird life, inspiring sunsets, visiting dolphins, proximity to the beach and of course the character and charm of the home itself, decks and unique views from almost every room! The eclectic and laid back community sealed the deal. It is their hope that you too will love and appreciate their home and Island and hopefully make it a memory that you want to revisit time and time again.
What makes this property unique
Almost too numerous to list, this home has a plethora of unique qualities and benefits. It is located on Deep water which means you can bring boats, jet skis, kayaks, canoes, etc. If you don't have these items you can rent or just kick back on the covered dock and wait for the dolphins to come visit you! Manatees have even been known to make a swim by! The abundant and diverse bird life will keep you entertained for hours, with the occasional hawk and osprey making a grand appearance. If the beach is what you seek then you need only walk a short block over to the canopied public beach access at 13th block. The Atlantic Ocean will greet you with rolling waves and hard packed white sands that you can ride a bike or push a stroller on at low tides. If the Atlantic is in the mood to offer a bit of excitement, this stretch of beach is known to hold a nice swell when available, offering a fun ride for the more adventurous surfers in the crowd. Want to just relax? Stay on the property. Enjoy the privacy and three outdoor decks. Visit inside with family and friends while still feeling at one with nature while having the comfort of the indoors. Plenty of beach houses and interiors homes on the Island but VERY FEW who offer the Folly River with such a quick hop over to the beach access located on a more private stretch of the Island.
