About this property

The Farmhouse Under the Nose is surrounded by 80 acres of DEC-protected land and next to a popular DEC-managed hiking trail, Vroman's Nose. Wildlife such as deer and wild turkeys are known to wander along the back edge of the property in the early mornings. Guests enjoy the walk across the field to the right of the house (roughly 100 yards) to the trailhead making daily sunrise and sunset hikes easy and enjoyable. Park use is free.

The property is also the home of Farmhouse Floral Design (FFD) located next door. The grounds are seasonally filled with flower gardens created, managed, and used by FFD. Guests enjoy roaming the property, taking in the sights and smells of freshly grown flowers. Fresh-cut flowers are added to the house for each guest's stay and are available for purchase at the floral shop during hours of operation.

A creek running alongside the property is the home of several blue herring and a few wood ducks. Cardinals, chickadees, barn swallows, squirrels, chipmunks, and more greet guests most mornings, and lightning bugs twinkly most nights on the wood's edge.

Excellent Experience!

Linda was always quick and friendly to respond to my messages. The house was in excellent condition and very clean. It was a great stay with friends and in close proximity to the wedding venue. There are friendly tips all around the house to help with any questions you might have. Overall, highly recommend!

Truly Enchanting!

Spent the weekend with my family & couldn’t have had a more wonderful time. The farmhouse is gorgeous- and every need and amenity was taken care of by Lin - the amazing owner how responded immediately when I had a quick question - as well as the staff at the florist next door who cleaned and left lovely flower bouquets throughout the house and you are surrounded by them growing around the property. It is so quiet with easy access to hiking trails but only 5 minutes to downtown Middleburgh- we will definitely be back & I would highly recommend making memories for you & your family or a special occasion or just as a way to unwind and retreat. The best!!!!

Tom and Lin have made Middelburgh and the farmhouse their home for over 18 years. Renovating this mid-1800 home took just about all of those years. Much love, time, and effort were poured into creating this charming spot to relax. Tom's fine carpentry work and Lin's artistic flare paired to create something that they hope you will enjoy.

Why they chose this property

This home is very special to us. Believe it or not, we began our long journey of renovation in 2004. When we bought the house, it had been abused by the previous owner and renters. It was in dire need of tender loving care. We knew from the moment we saw the house, it was our mission to bring her back.

In the past few years, we’ve enjoyed running a gift shop/cafe next door, Under the Nose which has become a fabulous floral shop, Farmhouse Floral Design. We have met wonderful people in our neighborhood and community and became intertwined in each other’s lives. We have so many great memories attached to the house, shop, and the Schoharie Valley. We’re convinced you will find wonderful memories to take home with you as well and some that will keep you coming back to the valley year after year.

The Farmhouse Under the Nose is surrounded by 80 acres of state land and a few hundred feet away from Schoharie County's most popular hiking trail, Vroman's Nose. Although short, this less than 3-mile hike offers amazing views of the valley and its fertile farmland. Morning and evening hikes are a must!

The Farmhouse sits next to Farmhouse Floral Design, a popular wedding florist who grows most of her own flowers on the property. Our guests have the opportunity to enjoy flower gardens throughout the property and the many creatures that make them their home.
