About this property
Charming East Jordan home 15 min to Boyne & Charlevoix!
Our historic home is full of character and charm. Guests find it great for a multi-family vacation and cozy enough for a couple's getaway. It's been in our family for decades and we stay here often so it is well-maintained and professionally cleaned after each stay. Large home has 5 bedrooms and sleeps up to 10 people.
The Kitchen is equipped with dishes, basic pots/pans, utensils, toaster, slow cooker and Keurig/coffee pot combo w/ pods provided. BYO grounds, decaf, cream & sugar. Paper towels and cleaning supplies are provided.
The Living Room is spacious with a 13’ ceiling and comfy seating for watching movies and napping. TV has Roku for logging into your own streaming accounts plus an assortment of DVDs.
Sitting Room - Relax in our sitting room with a card game and a variety of board games and puzzles for all ages. An exterior door opens to the corner porch, which can be lighted at night and is lovely for keeping cool in the summertime (no AC).
Two bedrooms are on the main floor with queen and double beds. The double room connects to the bathroom. Three bedrooms upstairs with twin beds and two sets of bunk beds.
There is one full bathroom (Sorry, only one toilet in this old house! That's how they did it in the 1800s.) It includes the original clawfoot tub w/ shower but there’s an extra shower stall and sink vanity in the laundry room for added convenience.
Quirks - "This old house" has original wood floors, very tall ceilings, cast iron registers, solid wood doors with original handles and a staircase that is creaky. It’s the kind of house that is made for an episode of “Home Town” on HGTV. The bathroom is in the center of the home and is a passageway from the kitchen to the middle bedroom. The master bedroom was originally a parlor room therefore there is no bedroom door. Instead, Curtains provide privacy from the sitting room. There is also no AC in the home - it is cooled the old-fashioned way but fans, newer windows in many rooms and the porch doors provide plenty of breeze.
Outside: Large corner lot with parking space for up to 4 vehicles. Covered parking for two vehicles. A large city park is across Division Street behind the house and is great for playing catch with the dog! Downtown is just a five minute walk to restaurants, ice cream, a public marina and the lake.

About the host
Hosted by E. Council
I was raised throughout Michigan so anywhere near a lake is my happy place. Northern Michigan feels like home.
Why they chose this property
This home has been in my family for decades.
What makes this property unique
Dating back to the 1870s, our home is one of East Jordan’s first, built during the hay days of the lumber era. We believe the second story originally may have been used as a boarding house, with the owner’s residence on the first floor.
It is well cared for and has been uniquely maintained to reflect its history while accommodating modern living conveniences.
