Welcome to the Hawaiian Wildlife Eco Village, which is part of the responsible tourism effort to take care of the Aina (Mother Nature in Hawaiian).
We offer an individual detached self contained bedroom (hexagon) with full bathroom and a kitchenette.
To start your day at the village, enjoy a breath taking sunrise from the ocean while being entertained by the view of our future forest. Be amazed at knowing that the heat from your hot shower comes from the sun energy and the rain is the provider of water for all the bungalows. Feel the aroma of the fruit trees surrounding your bungalow while resting in one of your hand made hummocks. Enjoy the presence of many native birds playing, eating and nesting in our more than a thousand already planted young trees.
If you want to be more adventurous, take a walk to admire the view of the Volcano Mauna Kea while visiting a beautiful water fall or take a pick of a cacao farm where they make chocolate. All of these just 5 miles from Hilo.
Take a 15 minutes drive to Hilo and jump in the water for a fabulous snorkeling at a black sand beach or walk around to enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants that are available.
In this busy world of ours, we want to invite you to get refuged in 20 acres of land that are dedicated to preserve and honor Mother Nature. By making this Eco Village your home for a little while, you will contribute to our sustainable efforts of forest restoration and preservation while visiting Hawaii in a sustainable and fabulous way. Aloha!

About the host
Hosted by Paola Rochabrun Oliveira
Our names are Mauricio and Paola. More than 20 years ago, we sailed away from our country in South America to conquer Hawaii. For our surprise, this island was able to conquer us first, so we decided to stay and make it our home. Hawaii embraced our family in such a way that we felt something needed to be given in return. That's the main reason why we started the Eco Village project to help with the reforestation of Hawaiian Native Trees. To be able to take care of hundreds of baby trees and to inspire people to take care of Mother Nature, we built self sufficient hexagons that are our engines to keep up with the project. By booking one of our hexagons, guests are part of the reforestation of Hawaii.
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood where we decided to start our project used to be a Hawaiian Native Forest that was destroyed in order to grow sugar cane. Later on, it was used to raise cattle. Perfect place to bring back a forest! Since 2020, we've been planting trees and shrubs. By our pleasure, we are now observing native birds flying back to where it used to be their habitat.
What makes this property unique
The piece of land where we decided to start this project has a unique purpose which is reconnecting guests with Mother Nature. Ancient Polynesian's used to know how to live in a sustainable way by connecting with the Aina (Mother Nature). With a humble heart, we are just trying to bring back ancient knowledge.
