Prepare to be wrapped in calm the moment you glimpse Lake Michigan’s inviting turquoise waters during your stay at Blue Calm.
Follow the winding, wooded drive to your private log cabin retreat. Listen closely and you’ll hear gentle waves brushing the shoreline. At dawn, the sky erupts in rainbow hues over the water. Spend your days drifting between carefree beach time, leisurely kayaking or paddleboarding (one of each provided), or even paddling toward Northport’s famous Gull Island. Unwind in the beach hammock with a peaceful nap or retreat to the sunny front deck with a good book. Enjoy backyard picnics featuring farmers market finds and meals off the gas grill. At day’s end, sip a local wine or craft brew beneath the covered lakeside deck on the cozy porch swing for two. Then gather around the campfire to roast marshmallows beneath a star-studded sky before drifting to sleep to the soft chorus of crickets and waves.
And repeat.

The house is located in a peaceful, secluded area just south of Northport. We really enjoyed our stay, the place was clean, organized and had everything we needed. Perfect for our family of four!

Very cute cabin in a serene location to have fun in water and watch beautiful sunrise. Would be great if the property had an AC.

So glad you were able to take in some beautiful sunsets and enjoy the easy water access. We'll let the owner know about your AC comment. Let us know if we can help with any future vacation stays.
This is the 3rd year staying at Blue Calm and each year improvements are made on an already restful location. The owners are very easy to communicate with and quickly respond to any questions we have. One thing that I personally love is that inside you have all of the comforts of home, and outside is almost like camping with a sandy lot and nice firepit, hanging hammocks and water toys.

So glad you enjoyed your stay! We hope to be able to host you again for the 4th year!
We loved our time at Blue Calm! This property is lovely. It’s a quiet spot but easy to use as a base for exploring - we visited Sleeping Bear Dunes, downtown Northport and Sutton’s Bay. You cannot beat the view! The beds were comfy and we really appreciated the use of the kayaks and paddle board. Our interaction with the management company went smoothly. Check-in was easy and we had no issues. I would suggest a few things to make future renters more comfortable - more coffee mugs, hairdryers in bathrooms and life jackets for the kayaks (we brought our own but others might not). We love this area in Michigan and would definitely rent this location again :)

Thanks for the great suggestions. So glad you were able to relax and recharge. Hard not to relax when looking out to the beautiful water! Look forward to having you back for another vacation.
Cabin was clean but had to deal with fruit flies. ( that time of year) When walking across the floor sounds like bubble wrap. The cabin was well appointed. The view was amazing. It was close to many villages but still private. Outside space with firepit overlooking the Bay was our favorite. Plus found four Petoskey stones. They also need a larger coffee pot that works. But on the whole a very nice stay.

Elli,
We are glad you enjoyed your overall experience! We will definitely look into a larger, functioning coffee pot for future guests. We really hope to see you back next year to enjoy some more bonfires by the bay!
We have been coming to Leelanau for several years, and this place was our favorite that we have stayed at over the years by far. The property is a great blend of rustic and updates, and its location on the water nestled in between downtown Suttons Bay and Northport, is nothing short of incredible.
This space is the perfect place for a quiet fall get away. The home interior was clean and disinfected prior to arrival. For a summer escape it is nice and shady to keep you cool. Right on the Grand Traverse Bay with beautiful view of the sunrises. The outside is rustic with a camping feeling. So, camping only with a nice house. We will come back next year for sure! Beware the camping atmosphere includes poison ivy and dirty sand yard. We brought our two medium sized dogs and they loved it too.
This place was absolutely gorgeous. The house was clean and on a quiet, secluded road. the water pristine and warm, and the paddle board and kayak there were welcome surprises! We hope to stay again! The only tough part was low Internet speed as one of us was trying to work remotely. Overall such a fabulous stay!!
Peaceful cabin with beautiful view on Grand Traverse Bay
My family enjoyed our week at the Blue Calm cabin, especially the sunrise views from bed, the free use of the SUP and kayak, and the peacefulness of being away from it all! Cabin was nicely furnished with updated bathrooms and well stocked in the kitchen. We found lots of great hikes and cute little towns in a 30-min driving radius and were grateful for the local recommendations of the hosts (in the binder they left). The region was a bit buggy in July, so do bring some bug spray for hanging out in the yard or going on hikes.
We had kids from 9-11, teenagers and a few adults. EVERYONE LOVED Blue Calm. The house is even better than the pictures represent so you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get there-we were expecting it to be more rustic. The bathrooms are bright and beautifully designed. The entire house was immaculately clean when we arrived. Check in was simple-unlike many VRBOs we've experience.
Close to Northport for groceries/gas etc., easy access to main roads. The view of the sunrise each morning from my bed was unreal. This is a perfect hideaway spot up north.
Kitchen appears a little sparce and small from the vrbo website but I feel the photos don't represent the size and function very well. We (2-3 of us at a time) cooked and grilled every day with no issue-plenty of space and high quality kitchen furnishings to work with. A few antique items mixed in to make it interesting. Beds in the adults rooms at least were very comfortable which also doesn't happen very often in a rental. After 10 years on Lake Leelanau, we tried something new and we'll definitely be back next year! Thanks Connie and Matt! The only part of Blue Calm we didn't love was the Ohio State O over the front door with a red and grey ribbon LOL Go BLUE!
Amazing long weekend, this property was perfect in every way. Found petoskey stones right in the shallows. We will definitely stay again.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Good job on finding the petoskey stones! Let us know if we can book another stay for you. There are going to be some upgrades taking place this winter that you will want to check out next year.
Loved this entire experience...my family and I stayed at Blue Calm for a few days and had an amazing time. Rustic but charming cabin, tons of extras, and lots of calming lake breezes. We kayaked and paddle boarded, grilled out and enjoyed the fire pit and dock.
