We had a wonderful time on this trip. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The fish platforms were awesome and the fire pit, tree swing, and sauna made our time "in between" activities so much fun! The fish packaging station was a huge perk. We got to meet Lloyd on our last night and he was so kind, great guy! We hope to stay again on a future trip. Thank you so much for providing a wonderful place for our family to relax and explore.

Awesome Fishing Lodge
We are a group of between 4 to 10 fisherman who have returned to AK for the past 15 years. This is one of our favorite places to stay, in that it has great facilities to process fish.... From cleaning to vacuum packing to freezing our fish. Great access to the Kenai River for fishing when the fish are running. Modern accommodations and kitchen to prepare your fresh catch.

Fantastic Trip!!
This was our first trip to Alaska and we sure struck gold. Everyone had a blast! The fishing was excellent (reds with everyone getting their limit one day, and trout). The house was amazing, beautiful sights that included watching the cow moose and her calf crossing the river and eagles flying along the river. Enjoyed the fire pit every night. House was well stocked with everything you could need and was close to shops and restaurants.

Wonderful Stay
My family has stayed twice at this wonderful place. The fishing was fantastic right at the dock. The building was immaculate and the vacuum packing device for the fish was a real bonus and allowed us to bring back a lot of fresh sockeye. We have made 4 trips to Alaska and we will stay here again.

Guy's Getaway
I planned a trip for my husband, two sons, and some friends to visit Alaska in September of 2014. Living in New Hampshire, and having no experience with Alaska, it was very difficult to choose a location and house. After spending countless hours looking at properties and talking to several homeowner's, I finally decided on the Kenai River House. The owner, Lloyd, answered all of my questions and was friendly and easy to deal with. The house itself was perfect. Our party of 5 was thrilled with this spacious, clean, and well decorated house. Most importantly, the spot on the Kenai River was spectacular! The guys spent hours fishing right off from the dock. Some nights they made a fire by the river and just relaxed, enjoying the surrounding beauty of the area. Even though they weren't there at the height of the fishing season, we still were able to fill our freezer with fish that they caught and had shipped home. The property and amenities are as advertised, if not even better. We would highly recommend this property, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have if considering a vacation at this wonderful home for your Alaskan adventure.

About the host
Hosted by Barbara Dawn Woodall
The owners Lloyd and Deborah Stenersen have been married 43 years, have 8 children, 6 daughters and two sons, 29 grandchildren.
Lloyd moved here and became a full time resident of Alaska in May of 2012 and enjoys being able to fish and hunt year round.
Lloyd was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington and in 1991 started and is still the owner of Cascade West Development, Inc. which is a home building company in Ridgefield WA and is now run by his son in law.
Why they chose this property
The Kenai River is located in Soldotna, Alaska just 145 miles south of Anchorage. The Kenai River is known for the best fishing in the world. The Kenai River holds the World Record for the largest King Salmon ever caught weighing in at over 97 lbs.
On the Kenai River it isn't a matter of how many fish you can catch but HOW you catch fish. You can practice your spin casting, fly fishing, charter a fishing expedition, or you can even net a few fish, and it is a lot more fun to do from a private riverbank.
The Kenai River carries many species of Salmon - Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, and Pinks, Trout, Steelhead and Dolly Varden.
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the outdoors and enjoy watching moose walk across your front door and eagles soaring directly above while fishing on the Kenai River.
What makes this property unique
Lloyd and his two sons Jason and Collin traveled to the Kenai Peninsula and fished the Kenai River for the first in 2002 while visiting the oldest daughter Lorinda who lived in Wasilla at that time. Lloyd caught a 70 lb. king salmon while on a guided trip and they all caught their limit of 6 reds each from the river bank that evening and from then was hooked on the Kenai. He went back two years later and bought this river frontage log home and now every July invites about 25 family and friends to come and enjoy the experience with him.
