About this property
Amazing Cottage Sitting Directly on Tomales Bay. Dogs OK.
Bayglow: Where the Water Meets the Sky, and Time Slows Down Welcome to Bayglow – a serene waterfront sanctuary nestled along the quiet edge of Tomales Bay, within the heart of Point Reyes National Seashore. Here, each day begins with birdsong and the hush of morning light over the water, and ends in the soft golden glow that gives Bayglow its name.
Surrounded by lush private gardens and wraparound decks, the cottage invites you to unwind into stillness. Soak in the hot tub under a canopy of stars, dine outdoors with the bay as your backdrop, or simply sit and watch as herons glide, seals surface, and otters play just beyond your doorstep.
Though it feels a world away, Bayglow is just a short stroll to Hog Island Oyster Company and Blue Waters Kayak rentals. The nearby towns of Inverness, Point Reyes Station, Olema, and Tomales offer warm welcomes, local flavor, and timeless charm.
With Tomales Bay Park, Point Reyes, and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area all close by, Bayglow is more than a place to stay—it’s a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the rhythms of the wild.

This property is wonderful... The view of the Bay is spectacular, the kitchen is expertly equipped, the bedrooms very comfortable, and the living area well laid out. Then there is the deck over the water and another seating area with shade and great bay views. A very enjoyable stay/1
I have been coming to this property with my family for years. It is fabulous. Beautiful views from almost every room. They have upgraded with additional deck seating and backyard landscaping since we last rented and it is really nice!
Beautiful cozy property right on Tomales Bay. Close to The Marshall Store and Nick’s Cove. Was treated to a pretty sunset as we arrived around 5 pm on our November checkin and a half harvest moon over the hill across the bay on our last night. Great TV with lots of options so we watched 2 movies. Celebrated my friend’s birthday there and just relaxed. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly!
Loved this house. Loved the gas fireplace, kept us toasty warm, didn’t even use the heaters. The spa was amazing, plenty of room and the jets worked beautifully. The beds were so comfortable. The downfalls were you can’t really walk anywhere because the road is very narrow. The stairs were a little difficult to navigate. Would definitely stay again!
We couldn’t have been happier staying in this beautifully appointed, charming and well-furnished cottage (with hot tub!) on Tomales Bay. It’s hard to adequately describe the unique natural beauty of the surroundings and the enchantment of being in their midst. The only thing we would change is to double the time of our stay. We’ll definitely be back.
The host, Donald, was wonderful—very responsive and accommodating.
Do yourself a favor and book the place for your next getaway.
Don’s Marshall property sits right on the beautiful Tomales Bay; westward facing for incredible sunlight/sunset views over the Point Reyes national seashore. Close proximity to Point Reyes Station and Inverness - quaint towns with great shopping and food, respectively. Other great seafood shacks along highway 1 are worth checking out. We will definitely return if we are able in the future. This placed fostered a magical weekend spent with friends and family.
We’ve stayed here multiple times, and Donald made some really tasteful improvements since we last visited (dolled up the area near the grill near the entrance, added furniture on the deck near the shed), while maintaining the air of beauty and supreme relaxation. Bayglow is likely the best rental we’ve stayed at in, and we’ve been fortunate to stay in lovely rentals all over Europe and America. We’ll be back again for a fourth time if they’ll have us!
The cottage is vey charming, clean and bright. We loved sitting on the dock with morning coffee and listening to the sounds of nature and being lulled to sleep at day’s end by the lapping of the tide. Wonderfully refreshing for the soul.
Such nice touches, like the heated bathroom floor. It wasn't as secluded as I would have liked, but it was a lovely stay nonetheless.
Pros:
Beautiful views
Hot tub
Comfy furniture
Everything you need in the kitchen
Cons:
ON the highway, no sidewalk, nowhere to walk the dog
Neighbors on both sides that you can see and hear
The stairs to the upper level are more like a ladder
Really nice property on the water with beautiful views, a hot tub and a grill! House was well equipped with amenities and everything worked well. Two upstairs bedrooms with gorgeous views to wake up to. We had a wonderful weekend stay and would absolutely go back..
I get extreme rental house anxiety - I have rented enough properties to know that pictures can sometimes be deceiving but I can honestly say that pictures could never do this place justice. If you think it's lovely in the pictures, just wait until you go there! It's a very special and unique place.
There is a wrap around deck that has a large gap to enter onto the dock and access the hot tub.
The garden is lovely with a nice little dining alcove and a sitting area where I enjoyed my morning tea each day. There is also a very nice propane gas grill to use.
The living/dining room is large and sunny with every window overlooking the bay. A really nice day bed and couch and a super comfy retro reclining chair that I spent my nights curled up on reading from the well curated collection of books. There is a nice television with roku built in.
The gas fireplace is persnickety for sure but be patient, follow the instructions and get it going because it is truly lovely on the chilly evenings.
There is a bedroom and full bath right off the living room - I slept downstairs and was lulled to sleep by the lapping tide underneath the house. The bathroom is beautifully retro with gorgeous tiling and the shower is equipped with high quality dispensers with body soap, shampoo and conditioner. The tile floor is heated which was absolute heaven on the chilly bay mornings!
The kitchen is small but very well equipped. The appliances are top of the line and there are enough cooking utensils, pots, pans, bowls, etc to make an amazing meal. Pantry has what almost all rental houses seem to have - a whole lot of different teas, maybe some salt, pepper, oil, random spices. The stove has a lovely little griddle in the middle - I highly suggest bringing stuff to make pancakes because I really wanted to but didn't have the ingredients. Coffee machine, french presses, coffee grinder and even one of those fancy milk frothers are available for use. Nice washer and dryer as well!
People mention the stairs to the second floor. . yes, they are narrow and steep but completely safe if you take them slowly and hold onto the rail.
I must comment on the window coverings. . .absolutely top of the line - there are so many windows in this house and it makes a difference!
There is a spirit of generosity to this house - the owners seem to really care about your experience and that is reflected in absolutely every detail.
My sister and I and our 2 dogs had a really lovely time. The house had everything we needed. The view of Tomales Bay is wonderful. We saw jellyfish, pelicans and otters. Point Reyes Station and Dillon Beach are a short drive away.
The one possible drawback for travelers with mobility issues is that the stairs to the two upstairs bedrooms are steep and narrow.
Don was a great host, very quick to respond.
I will definitely come back next year
We had the best time and so did our dog. Bayglow was clean and had everything we needed (except a usable dresser) in downstairs bedroom. We were short on storage for underwear and sweats..warm hats. Not much room to store food so we put it in the oven! The fridge and stove are awesome!
We would love to return!! ❤️❤️
Spent three nights here for my birthday with my family including our gorgeous new granddaughter. The stillness of the air and water was sublime. And then the raucous sloshing of the water and wind. Yummy. House is perfect. The hot tub was umbrellaed by stars and we were all so happy.
If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful and comfortable retreat, this is it. From stunning views, comfortable beds, fabulously equipped kitchen to a hot tub on the deck, facing the views, this home has everything we wanted. Communication with owner was fast and very kind. We enjoyed it so much we would like to make it an annual retreat.
