Island Club is the best place to stay on HHI!

I’ve been coming to HHI for forty years. I’ve stayed at various places, but to me, Island Club is the best. The grounds are beautiful and so well groomed. I always stay at one of the three condos that’s oceanfront. The location is convenient too.

Best experience at Hilton Head!

Our best experience at Hilton Head! Getting settled was easy with elevators and baggage carts near the unit. Beach and pool were steps away. Gas grills were cleaner than new.

The unit was very dirty and dated. The kitchen was not clean when we arrived. Food on the cabinets and walls, dishes with food stuck on them. Food on the floor in the living room and under furniture, stains on the bedding. It was gross.

Great location and ocean view

The condo was great for our family of 7 at Thanksgiving week. It had all we needed to cook and a large dining table. The view of the ocean was amazing!

Hilton Head Trip

We stayed at the Island Club for our annual February trip. Our arrival, although late, was made easy by the directions and codes that we sent to us. We did have a plumbing issue which was quickly repaired.

Great ocean view!

This condo has a great view of the ocean and has a very short walk to the beach. It worked well for 7 adults who all really enjoyed their stay. The main living area was very nice. I gave 4 stars rather than 5 because the bedrooms and baths are due for a refresh, but that didn't detract from our stay.

Condo is nice, but dated

Loved being oceanfront and greatly appreciated the spaciousness of the unit. However, heavy construction in the unit above ours led to water leaks and LOTS of noise.

Offers what it needs

Spacious place my family and I have been staying at for 20+ years. That being said it’s barely been updated in 20+ years. A metal bracket hanging off the shower right at ankle level makes for a dangerous situation for kids. The master closet having a broken dining room chair in it preventing us from using the space wasn’t helpful. Another bathroom had some drywall patch work done relatively recently and it was clearly just done to be done. If you need a place that fits a big family then it’s a great spot. If you want that place to have the little details that make you want to return, not the spot for you.

We liked it

We enjoyed our stay very much. The condo location is great. You are right by the beach entrance & a very short walk to the pool. The property amenities were all clean & well maintained. I read some reviews about the condo being outdated. It was up to date enough for us & I’m picky about where I will stay. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of room for us to spread out, TVs worked, Internet worked, kitchen appliances worked. The kitchen could use a set of steak knives, there were just butcher knives & butter knives, but that’s not going to interfere with our stay. It was clean enough for me & again, I am picky about where I stay. I did notice dust on top of the hair dryer holder, but I am constantly scanning for dirt, and that is not something most people would notice. Everything that mattered was clean & fresh. I felt comfortable there and would stay again.

Just OK

We were very excited about our stay given the layout and location. Our party included two married couple, one with their two year old. The layout and size of the condo was absolutely perfect for our group. The view was incredible and our basic needs were met. Unfortunately, there were many parts that were only that - “basic” and “just ok”. The check-in process was a terrible experience, though we cannot say if that was due to Vacasa, VRBO or the actual property itself. We tried the code provided and it would not work. After 30 minutes with Vacasa customer service giving us multiple alternate codes with no success, we were told they would need to “send a local team” but could provide no time estimate, despite us waiting in the summer heat with all our belongings and a two year old toddler. The “ticket” was finally escalated to the property manager who called immediately with a code to get us in, which was frustrating since the property manager could have seemingly solved all our problems immediately and she indicated to call her directly going forward (thank you Jackie!) After the frustrating check-in process, we were disappointed with the unit in many ways. Notably, it is very outdated and would benefit tremendously with some seemingly simple and low-cost fixes and updates, such as fixing the broken kitchen sprayer faucet or replacing the bathroom fixtures. The AC was also inconsistent and would not cool the bedrooms. Overall great potential but needs some TLC.

Good location, but....

Great location, close to the beach, but the property itself had more to wish for: Laundry machine didn't work on delicate setting DVD player was unplugged from TV without any instructions, so took some time to figure that out on our rain day. Wifi was very unreliable. At times, no issues, and at times impossible to get things done on it. Several dusty areas, cleaning had only happened on the main areas (countertops etc), but very dusty return vents and shelves. Also found trash under the couch. Bathtub didn't seal for a bath to be able to take place. Most outlets in the property were too old to hold plugs, and I had to build up support around them to be able to get connected.

Beach was private and not crowded. Right on the beach. Condo was clean. Dryer was temperamental. Overall. Good experience. It was our second time staying at this unit. What attracted us were the two king size beds. Unit 5201 where my son stayed had updated decor. Very nice.

Vacation 2022

This property was wonderful. It fit the needs of our group perfectly. The perfect distance from the beach the location is great for everything. It was over all clean and stocked well with lots of towels and starter kit. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The price was higher than I prefer, we probably would book again if it was a little bit more affordable.

Unbeatable location

Lots of room for us and our son’s family. Beach, playground, pool and courts right outside your door. Been renting this unit since 2018. Needs a kitchen update, but adequate.

Nicely appointed and maintained property

This was a perfect unit for our family; having two king beds was wonderful . We took the master, daughter & husband in the 2nd king, and our unmarried adult sons enjoyed the room with the two beds. The kitchen, dining, and living areas were all spacious and comfortable. Access to the property was easy and parking convenient. Great luggage carts and "shopping carts" type carts helped with "supplies." We had a mini reunion with other members of the family who all stayed in different units in our building. TV was large; excellent for watching the Olympics and Super Bowl with the whole crew. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Fabulous complex

The unit is a great size. Rooms are large enough for a party of six, nice big dining table, enough comfortable seating in the living room. The deck could use more than two chairs because the view is fabulous and we all wanted to sit there. The unit could use a little paint and tile work etc. Most beds are comfortable (exception is the queen in one of the rooms.) There are a few beach chairs and a few beach toys. Fun kite to fly! We love the complex. It is well kept, friendly, pretty with pickelball and tennis available. We will be back for sure.
