This is a beautiful home in a great location. The ocean views are great and beach access is near. The beds are comfortable, the shower was great and the kitchen was fully stocked. A lovely vacation home!

Nice ocean view only possible after WE washed the windows. Master mattress gave us both back troubles. The owner of this property has to re-invest a little or it will become an orphan.

Beautiful views of the ocean on Jekyll Island

Brought my 92 year old mother in law and 88 year old mom. My husband and I cooked in a well stocked kitchen spacious home. At this time, beach is not really accessible, but the views are tremendous. Very nestled in the shade of oak trees No city lights. Fantastic stargazing. Saw the Milky Way.

Jekyll Island

We had an amazing time staying at this beautiful property on Jekyll Island! The house was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect, providing easy access to the beach and local attractions. One of the highlights of our trip was renting a golf cart to explore the island – highly recommended! It added a fun and convenient way to see all the sights and get around quickly. Our family created wonderful memories here, and we can’t wait to return. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

May 2020 Stay

WE loved EVERYTHING about our stay! The view was spectacular, the live oaks were amazing and the pelicans never stopped fishing. We loved biking around the island, walking on the beach in front of home and especially loved Driftwood Beach! Will most likely make this a yearly event. Our pooch loved it too!

We had a wonderful time at oakridge! The location is perfect, with a great view of the beach. Inside the cottage is charming, well decorated, and cozy, the beds are comfortable and it’s very clean. Even all the appliances are clean. It’s also well stocked with some things you may need, like kitchen utensils, extra bed sheets, board games, there was even a little welcome tote bag with information about the island and items like toilet paper, dish soap, etc. Only negative we encountered was the house is older, so some items like the bed comforters/couch had some stains. it wasn’t a big deal for me personally, with the rest of the cottage being so clean it made up it. Overall, highly recommended and we hope to stay again! Thank you jekyll realty!

May 2020 Stay

we had a great time at Oakridge. Beautiful view of the ocean from the deck. The day before we left, they started building a crossover in front of the house, would have been great if that would have happened a few days sooner as it was a long walk to the other crossover, I guess that's good news for the next guests, lol. We rented a golf cart from red bug motors and drove it all over the island. We only had to drive our vehicle one time when we went off the island to winn-Dixie. We really enjoyed visiting the sea turtle hospital!! Overall, great vacation!

The interior of the property was well maintained and very clean. We have no complaints there- it was very comfortable. However, the listed amenities do not match the property. It clearly states there is beach access from the street address but that was not the case. We were disappointed to discover that the bridge was under construction. This was not shared with us prior to the stay. We would have never booked this rental without access to the water. We could see, hear and smell the ocean from the back deck but had to drive to access the beach. We reached out several times about this and never heard back from the management team.

No Beach Access

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: First I will start with the good. The rental was overall nice. We liked the cute ocean/beach themed decor. The living room, dining, and kitchen were very open and bright. The kitchen was very nice and looked updated and remodeled from the original 1972 house. Very well stocked kitchen. From pots and pans, utensils, everything you could think of. Jekyll Realty manages the property and were really responsive and nice. I had all my questions answered when I would call. Now onto the not so good. The house was dirty. The rugs in each room were so filthy we couldn’t walk on them out of fear of catching something. Keith from Jekyll Realty came out to look at the issues and was really nice but there was not much that could have been done about the dirty furniture. The house has a serious gnat and roach problem. We killed about 6 roaches on our stay. My daughter has a severe fear of cockroaches so she was definitely traumatized. She couldn’t sleep normally after the first 2 cockroaches. They were also the flying kind. One flew on my son’s shoulders and started running around him. There was no beach access. I wish that would have been stated in the description of the listing. I only rented this place because I thought we would be able to go out onto the beach easily from the house. That was disappointing. We had to drive to Ocean View Beach Park to get access to the beach. LOVED it there. The beaches really are less crowded than Myrtle beach and very wide. Loved everything about the beach at Ocean View Beach park. Most of the doors in the master bathroom don’t work. My daughter had to bail me out of the door leading to the shower twice because that one gets stuck. The doors and door knobs look original to the house. Very old. The whole place could use a deep cleaning, new rugs and updates on doors and door knobs. The whole house smells of wet dog. The chair in the master bedroom smells heavily of urine. House had everything we needed. Loved the one floor plan and openness and so did our Lab. Didn't really mind the no direct beach access, drove to closest park with easy access and the deck provided all the view we needed. The umbrella and beach chairs provided by the realty company was a nice touch. Deer, rabbit, squirrels, a really big lizard and of course the raccoons an extra.

Nice bungalow by the sea

Reviewer Comments: The rental staff was very prompt to respond regarding an issue we had with the built in microwave and brought a counter top one by to use. Staff was super nice. The cottage has a fantastic view of the ocean from all the main rooms and master bedroom. Back deck was very enjoyable in the afternoon when the sun went over. My biggest complaint is that in order to get across to the main beach by the ocean you have to walk a good distance or drive to an area with a cross over since the closest one hasn’t been rebuilt. Not a big deal if you’re just out for a walk but it’s a little tougher when you’re hauling chairs, umbrella and cooler. Much easier just to drive to main public beach area when you have gear. As far as using the house, For us, the beds were very uncomfortable, but the kitchen was very well equipped with dishes, pots/pans, coffee maker & keurig. Overall we really liked the house. The positives out weighed the couple of negatives.

Peaceful and quiet retreat

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful experience in this great mid-century modern home with floor to ceiling windows. Great for dolphin and bird watching. The recently remodeled kitchen was great for cooking. The open floor plan is perfect for groups. We enjoyed reading about the history of Jekyll with books at the house and reading more about Tallu Fish, the woman the street is named after. The house does not have direct beach access due to the rock revetment, however the advantage is that the beach is quiet with few people. You can access the beach a few blocks away and the house is close to the island—wide trail system. I highly recommend renting bikes and spending half a day riding around the island.

September 2023 Stay

We have been coming to Jekyll Island for many years and decided to stay at Oakridge cottage for our 50th wedding anniversary. Pure Perfection! The view was even better than the old cottage that we use to stay in, and I didn't think that was possible. And as always, the staff at Jekyll Realty are pleasant and understanding. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable and decorated so nice. I want to give special "Thank you" to Anthony Holtz for being so nice and patient with us old folks. Had a wonderful, relaxing time.

Beautiful Views and Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house provided some beautiful views of the ocean and a very happy anniversary trip for my husband and me. When we booked our vacation, we thought we would have direct beach access so that was a little disappointing but overall, it didn't change our thoughts on the house. It was comfortable and clean, provided some amazing views of the sunrise. Your staff responded quickly to an issue that we had. And we found the beach right up the road easy to get to and spend several hours on. My favorite thing had to be walking along St. Andrews Beach at sunset, we took some amazing pictures of the sunset and found lots of little creatures.
