Private Beachfront Retreat on Lake Michigan

Unwind and recharge at Sand Drift Cottage. This 1940’s classic Lake Michigan beachfront cottage has the most breathtaking views. It is nestled on a private tree-lined road surrounded by nature, yet centrally located between Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven. It’s a perfect beach escape for a couple's vacation, weekend with girlfriends or quality time with family. This Southwest Michigan area has all the charm with some of the best wineries/breweries, beaches, art galleries, adorable boutiques and amazing dining.

Wake up to the sound of the waves and relax on the deck overlooking the water. Take a walk down to the private beach where you can go for a swim or stroll the shoreline. Beach bums will be set with beach chairs, outdoor games and other beach necessities.

At night, be sure to gather around the fire pit and take time to watch an unforgettable sunset or do some stargazing.

Beautiful home with stairs to the beach right outside the back door. We enjoyed the amazing sunsets over the lake and easy access to Saugatuck for food and shopping. Living space is even larger than it appears in the photos. Hosts provide everything you need!

Long weekend getaway

This was our first solo trip since having kids and the tranquil location could not have been more perfect. We spent the mornings in the sun room listening to the water, hopped around to Holland and Saugutauk as it’s only 15 minutes away in either direction. This was the perfect little home away from home for our long weekend. We’ve come to love western Michigan, and we loved this little home away from home

Right At Home

Adorable, well stocked, and amazing views. Cottage is absolutely charming and literally has everything there to make you feel at home. Beach chairs, paddle boards and life jackets all available along with great outdoor spaces just to hang out. Conveniently located to Saugatuck and South Haven. Colleen was extremely helpful with recommendations of places to visit and restaurants to check out. Will definitely be back.

The perfect getaway

This was the trip we needed. From the host’s communication to the absolutely adorable home - our stay was perfection. Our two little boys loved being so close to the beach and we spent all day with sometimes not seeing another soul! It was so private and secluded but close to town where we would drive in for brunch. The boys LOVED the loft area and the spiral staircase even though my pregnant self struggled a bit haha we will absolutely be booking every year for our annual trip.

A magical experience

Everything about the cottage exceeded expectations. The space is charming, the view is inspiring and the feeling is pure magic. Our 4 year old is convinced that fairies must live there because of how enchanting it is.

Hidden Gem!

This was the absolute perfect getaway! The attention to detail and the amenities were far beyond anything we could have ever expected. We were looking for a place to simply unwind and relax, and we found it. The private beach and sunsets were amazing. The pictures listed do not do this place justice. We cannot wait to return!

Wonderful

This is our second year at Sand Drift. You cannot beat the home, beach, or location. The home is clean and well appointed with the perfect location for solitude, woods, and the most beautiful views of Lake Michigan. We enjoyed the clear water using the provided beach gear and paddle boards. The owners installed Starlink-this gave us uninterrupted WiFi access and calling. This stay was even better than last year and we will likely book this home again next year!
Gorgeous weather this week!
Sunsets are unmatched.
Just run up them-it’s a great workout!

Charming lake front cottage!

Our family enjoyed every second of our time on Lake Michigan. This charming cottage had stunning views with ideal private beach access! The house itself was perfect for our kids and we for sure will be back!

Wow! To say we loved it here is an understatement. We didn’t want to go home! It is so many things…from the drive down the road to the amazing cottage, to the beautiful private beach we enjoyed it all. It feels secluded yet you are close to wine tasting, Saugatuck and South Haven. The cottage is beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you could need. Colleen and Andy were great answering questions and giving us recommendations. We are already looking forward to our next stay!

Phenomenal!

We had an outstanding stay at the cottage! Great views, easy beach access and the place was stocked with plenty. The kids enjoyed a DVD from the collection each day and the newly upgraded internet worked well for us. Be sure to check out the little store for pretty much everything and the Glenn store for great pizza. The hosts were Great and super responsive! Will definitely be coming back to the sand drift cottage!

1st Family Vacation

It was our first vacation as a family and we had a blast. Our boys loved the beach and the house was beautiful. Once the kids went to bed my wife and I enjoyed the sunroom and watching sunsets while playing games or an assembling a puzzle. We’d definitely go back. Excellent lake Michigan cottage!

The property lacks for nothing. It's quiet and comfortable with a very accessible beach. We really appreciated the ac during the heat wave! One thing to note is that we did not get consistent Internet or cell service, so would not be a good spot if you plan to do any work, but great to really unplug and detox from your devices. We hope to return!

82nd Birthday Celebration

My sisters and I booked this amazing property to celebrate my parents 82nd birthdays and it did not disappoint. The view of the lake was incredible. We spent most of our days down on the beach, relaxing on the deck, or adventuring in Saugatuck and Holland. So many picture perfect sunsets during our stay. My parents said this sweet abode was the absolute best they have ever had the pleasure to stay in and they hope to return again next summer. Thank you to Andy and Colleen for sharing your home with us.

Andy and Colleen are from a Northwest suburb of Chicago. They have been married for 20 years and have two daughters. They spent a lot of their childhood enjoying lake time and wanted to give those same experiences to their children too. They fell in love with the charm of this cozy cottage and its location to a few of their favorite Michigan towns. It has been a perfect escape for their family and they wanted to be able to share it with others too.

This is a quiet gravel road surrounded by woods. It has seen many generations of families. You won’t see cars flying by and can safely take a walk or bike ride along the road.

This is one of the very few short term rentals in the area that has its own private beach on Lake Michigan. It is in a perfect location to allow for a quiet retreat, yet centered between Saugatuck/Douglas and South Haven.
