We stayed a Casa Zen for a week and it was fantastic. Two families with teenagers and everyone has an amazing time, lots of space and the location was incredible. The beach is a 2 minutes walkfrom the house. The bedrooms are well equipped and comfortable. The property mangers gave us excellent support and communication was incredible, they also provided excellent recommendations for tours and excursions. We would be happy to return to this great property and tank you for allowing us to make amazing memories.

Casa Zen was perfect for our family - my husband, myself, our 10 & 14 yr olds and my brother-in-law. Lots of space to spread out, comfy beds, cozy, comfortable and unpretentious. We felt very safe on the private lane, enjoyed friendly neighbors, the pool, the local monkeys, iguanas and night-time raccoon crew. We even had a Black Hawk fly down one day to cool its feet in the pool fountain. The most incredible thing about the property is how close it is to Playa Grande!!! Like so close. Absolutely gorgeous beach. Not crowded & touristy at all. Surfers & beach walkers. Everyone looking out for each other. The whole village of Playa Grande was lovely- both the Palm Beach Estates part and the village proper. Only thing I would give a heads up about is pots and pans are aging teflon and the furniture has seen better days. For our crew, it wasn't a deal breaker. Made it more homey! Though some stainless pots would be lovely. Paul, Kristy & Doug were all great - helpful, easy to communicate with. We were sad to leave and already want to return!

Fantastic location

Nice gated neighborhood right on Playa grande. Easy beach access. Nice restaurants in the area. Good amenities in the home including air conditioning, full kitchen, washer/dryer and nice splash pool. Each room has a bathroom, which is very convenient. Good communication from property management. Overall very satisfied with our stay.

The perfect vacation!

Great location, good house

The location is absolutely great - 1 min walk to the gorgeous beach, quiet, very few people around. The house is good, and the description is accurate with one exception - the fourth bedroom (pics 21-23) is not quite a bedroom as the shower and the sleeping area are pretty much the same room. Also, it's quite small so if you stay there, it feels like you are sleeping in a big bathroom.

Great vacation beach house in Costa Rica!

Perfect house for a group of 6/7- 2 minute walk to beach. Spacious, fully equipped kitchen, peaceful, beautiful pool and outdoor seating area. Only downside was issue with circuit breaker caused us to lose hot water. Kristi was very responsive and was able to correct it (after several cold showers).

Great location on a fantastic beach!

The house is situated between a conservation area and a fairly empty beach on a very short street. Beach is a 2 min walk. There are several small restaurants very close by but would recommend having a rental car. Pool attendant and house manager were very attentive. House had everything you need and was very clean. Pool was bigger than anticipated and bathrooms were beautiful. The bunk beds in the back room were not very secure and I would not recommend anyone sleeping on the top bunk. We ended up not using that room at all. Lots of space and AC was terrific! Washer and dryer was a nice surprise too.

Serenity in Playa Grande

Casa Zen is a perfect name for this home. Serenity abounds in a beautiful home. First class accommodations and plenty of room for all. The home is ideally located a short stroll to the beach in a gated community. You can hear the waves from the back patio. Top notch appliances, furniture and security system. Back patio and pool are ideal for afternoon and evening activities/relaxation. In walking distance to most Playa Grande restaurants. Only a 5 minute walk to the Tamarindo water taxi. Surfing is fantastic and the sunsets are unbelievable. Truly a treasure for relaxation and play. Added benefit is the property manager, Kristi, who was extremely helpful with any home/community questions and issue mitigation. She is also well connected with the local community for event planning and recommendations. I highly recommend this property for your Costa Rican adventure!

Amazing Location and Even Better Service!

A group of us stayed at Casa Zen while in Costa Rica and we absolutely LOVED it! Very close to the beach/good restaurants in Playa Grande (Café Mar Azul was our favorite), lots of space, and a really nice pool! Each bedroom had it's own bathroom and shower which made getting ready very easy. We all felt extremely safe and enjoyed having our own space. We also loved being away from the touristy spots in Tamarindo, however, it was not far or hard to get to there if needed or wanted. With this being our first trip to Costa Rica, we weren't sure on things to do or what was around us but the property manager, Kristi, was extremely helpful! From before our arrival with helping us get an airport shuttle, to when we were departing, she was so kind and eager to help with whatever we needed or asked. We can't express enough how helpful that was to us! Paul, the property owner was also very helpful and so easy to work with. We are already planning a trip back to Costa Rica and will for sure be checking Casa Zen for availability to stay again! Thanks Paul and Kristi!

Perfect Location!

We had a wonderful stay at this property. We were 2 families (7 in total) and felt like we had plenty of room to move around. The kitchen had everything we needed. The pool looks small in the photos but it was adequate for our group. It was a surprise to have the Howler Monkeys visit in the late afternoon to eat from the mango trees and give us entertainment. The rooms were all very good in size. The room with the bunkbeds is a little small so really is perfect for kids. The location to the beach is a short walk and boom - you are on one of the best beaches in the world! We had an issue with the coffee maker the first day and ran out of toilet paper on another - but after a call to the team at the Bula Bula -we had what we needed the day we called! Things I would keep in mind....try and get most of your groceries in Tamarindo. You will also need to get charcoal and lighter for grill if you intend to use it. For last minute items there is a small grocery store on the property - (5-10min walk). The restaurant at the Bula Bula is wonderful and prices are pretty good. Another wonderful restaurant is right across the estuary - Pangas. Go for lunch or apps in the afternoon for cheaper prices. Grab a drink and walk to the beach to end your day with the most beautiful sunsets. Our kids loved playing in the ocean at sunset while we enjoyed a glass of wine! Just another day in Paradise!

Great Home Located Right by the Beach

The home worked out great for my family. Is right on the beach and across from the mangroves. Wildlife and bugs are prevalent due to all the trees etc. Home was comfortable, with adequate wifi. Gardeners clean the pool each day. Inside the home was clean. Appliances worked and were generally clean. We were really happy with the home.

Overall experience was wonderful. House is closely located to the beach, has daily howler monkey visits, convenient to Tamarindo, with several great restaurants within reasonable walking distance. Property managers Kristi and Doug were attentive and ensured a smooth stay and Alvaro, provided as a driver and conduit for a number of excursions, was nothing short of fantastic throughout. Definitely recommend both the house and services provided for prospective guests.

Great Stay, Great Place, Great Hosts

Property was as listed and was in good shape. The beach is 150 steps away and as always the best beach in CR. Kristi, (property manager), is a fantastic host, she arranged everything from surf boards to a fishing trip and her contacts were spot on as well. We cannot say enough good things about the whole experience!

We enjoyed the house and location. The house was well stocked with family games. The a/c was amazing for some of the hottest days. The house could use some inexpensive upgrades such as decent pillows and new mattresses in the smaller bedrooms. All in all a good stay!

Beautiful house conveniently located

The house was lovely! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, and the floor plan was spacious. The area felt safe and the alarm was a nice feature. We were close to the beach, Tamarindo, and yummy restaurants. I did not give the place 5 stars simply because the house comes with complimentary concierge service, as well as internet, and those had issues. We are not looking to spend time on social media or shopping while in a beautiful country, but Internet is the primary way for communicating in Costa Rica through the WhatsApp. We did not have internet for three days so making reservations for excursions was difficult; we had to walk to town to connect. I understand things happen and service goes out but we could not get assistance from our concierge provider while the managers from the neighboring houses already had theirs fixed. We had a sick baby that had to go to urgent care one night and we didn't have service. Again, things happen, but she was not available to help us get the service back up and running. When we checked in the manager/concierge person was not there to let us in as planned. She arranged surf boards for us but then asked where the boards came from after we checked out to which we replied she had arranged and she said she didn't. She was just very unavailable and unprofessional, but very nice. There were small things that need to be fixed like the shower faucets and door handles, but I noticed in earlier reviews, those were previous issues that as the manager of the house, she should address. Again, beautiful house! Beautiful beach! We had a lovely time and would definitely go again if you would have us. I would encourage better response, better communication, and better maintenance. Terri, Thanks for your response. We do apologize for the internet. We were actually down the week before and also had issues. Customer service in Costa Rica for services such as internet providers is terrible and I know Kristi was on the phone numerous times trying to get it resolved, but other Tigo customers were also impacted. As you know, we are literally at the end of the line. I know the modem was eventually replaced, but again we were hostage to Tigo service call - which is 10 times worse than etierh Canada or the US. I also know Kristi tried to accommodate you in every way possible but there were issues in connecting as you were likely off enjoying Palya Grande (which, ultimately, is all it is about!). For example she arranged a late check out and other ways to assist. All other guests have raved about Kristi's services, so we were a little surprised to read your comments. In any event, we hope you had an enjoyable trip otherwise and will visit Costa Rica again! Paul and Cristina

Excellent vacation at Casa Zen

We stayed at Casa Zen for just over 2 weeks in January 2019. We loved it - great house layout, nice dip pool, good working kitchen, and the most amazing beach. The property manager Kristi was extremely attentive and had lots of good ideas for stuff for us to do. There are several good restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the property, and we were pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it was to eat out. We went to Tamarindo a number of times, using the water taxi across the estuary, and we drove around a couple of times. The roads are all newly resurfaced, so no problems with driving. The weather was perfect every day (hot!) and there were hardly any bugs. During our stay, we had the monkeys in our back yard on 3 different days. We definitely plan to come back with our family and friends.
