We love Carmel, but hadn't been there in several years. We went with another couple with whom we have traveled all over the world. Our world travel days are pretty much behind us; we wanted a home with a view, upscale furnishings, and plenty of outside area to relax in comfort. This house met those requirements perfectly. And the location is great.Bill met us when we checked in and gave us a thorough walk-through.

This is a beautiful home with views of the ocean from every bedroom! As the home of the VRBO host, it is meticulously detailed with exquisite artwork and high quality appointments throughout. The attention to detail in everything from the furniture to the lighting design made for a luxurious environment in which to relax and enjoy Carmel. And the outside patio area is just as beautiful as advertised. If you're looking for a high quality VRBO experience, this is your place! You will be met by your host who will ensure you are comfortable and know how to work all lighting fixtures, all appliances. An added bonus are his stories of how he acquired his most prized pieces of art! Can't recommend more highly.

This is one of those places that actually lives up to the insane pictures. It's a warm, inviting space with an amazing view and quite a functional kitchen for those who want to stay in and cook, which is actually a pretty good plan with the amazing patio. Bill was friendly and super responsive and took time to show us all the details of this wonderful property. It's also insanely close to downtown Carmel and the Mission Trail Park, an excellent mini-hike that's great for pets as well.

We had a great stay here. The view from the deck, living room and bedroom are spectacular. And there's an awesome coffee maker and milk foamer. Host is super friendly and welcoming.

Home was beautiful well appointment and perfect location. Amenities were very nice. Beautiful art, top notch toiletries and gardens and outdoor space phenomenal. What was not shared was that some of the pictured items such as hammock and some of decks could not be used because owner STAYED on the property with us and had those decks for himself. If privacy and autonomy are your thing this one is a bit uncomfortable. Checking in was allowed early and much appreciated however, the owner (rightfully) very proud of his offering and spoke at least two minutes at every light switch, painting and such and had to be cut off to limit check in to showing how to work fireplace and outdoor fire pit and spa which should be done in writing, it was very micromanaged and controlled which may not bug some but was definitely awkward and uncomfortable for me and my family and we felt babysat the whole time. If owner is staying at the house in a part of the property and will be there it should be listed

I do want to offer some context on a few of your points, as I think it's important for future guests to have an accurate picture. On the check-in walkthrough, I take great pride in this home and the experience I provide, and I do walk every guest through the property personally. This isn't micromanagement: it's care. I want guests to know how to use the fireplace, the spa, the outdoor fire pit, and everything else comfortably and safely. I understand that may feel like a lot, but it comes from a genuine place of hospitality. Regarding occupancy, the reservation was booked for 2 adults and 2 children.there were 5 adults present upon arrival. My listing includes per- person fees and occupancy terms, and I'd encourage guests to ensure their booking accurately reflects the number of guests staying. I did not insist that you pay for your extra guests an hope you enjoyed your stay overall and wish you well.

Beautiful and comfortable property. Wonderful place to stay while visiting the Monterey peninsula. Everything we could want or need was provided. Beds were super comfy and the bed linens and towels were luxurious. I loved the many beautiful art pieces. We wish we could have spent more time there to enjoy the hot tub and fire pit. Host was friendly and spent plenty of time showing us around and making sure we could appropriately use the many amenities. Would stay again

Great for a family

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property and so close to downtown Carmel and to nearby grocery store. Bill was super helpful and gave us lots of tips of the local area. We would definitely stay here again!

This is a beautiful home. Well appointed, beautifully done, Very comfortable, several areas for seating, both indoors and out. The art work in and around the grounds is so interesting and eclectic, as are the furnishings. Bill resides in the lower apartment while renting out his main house. He is a very accommodating host with lots of knowledge of the area. Highly recommend!!

The house was spotless! It was the best equipped kitchen I have ever seen. Every pot, pan, gadget you can imagine. The view was amazing. The living room sectional was very comfy. The house was beautiful. The second bedroom mattress was super hard. I was staying with a pug dog. I thought there would be a grassy area in the back yard. Not so. I should have asked. So Lulu had to go for walks to go potty. The street was very nice and there were some areas that were marginally good for a dog to relieve themselves. I don't mind doing poop patrol, it just would have been more convenient to be right at the house on some grass or artificial turf.

This is a wonderful home, and Bill was very accommodating in letting us stay here for a week around the date our wedding. We booked this property under the assumption that it was a single location on the property, and would therefore give us a very private area to spend our time together during a very hectic week. Overall, this was mostly the case. However, the property is less private than one might expect from first glance. This is the owner's main residence, so there's also a studio apartment below, accessible by a side gate, which also has a gate leading out to the property in front, which is owned by the same owner. There are 3 units on the two lots, and while they're beautiful units (with a lot of very high-quality amenities), the privacy left something to be lacking. Bill has a lot of care for this unit, seeing as it's his home, and so would kind of commonly be around, sometimes going into the back patio to re-fill the fountains or simply going through his possessions, which are mostly stored in the garage. Day of our wedding, the back patio was overtaken by gardeners, which also was a bit of a sour note, as my now-wife had wanted to be able to get ready in the house in a bit more of a peaceful atmosphere. Timing is what it is, but we had been clear on the date of our wedding when we booked, so it could probably have been communicated to us in advance. Overall, it's a wonderful stay, but not as private as we would have hoped.

I'm glad you enjoyed the home and I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.I do want to offer a bit of context on a few points, as I take great pride in this home and want future guests to have the full picture. Regarding the fountains, I did reach out to you beforehand to let you know they require filling to prevent damage, and offered uyou the choice: fill them yourself, or let me take care of it for you. You invited me to come up and handle it,which I did. I make it a point never to disturb my guests during their stay, but when something does need attention, I always reach out first and let the guest decide. I also want to mention that I typically do not allow events at my home. However after speaking with you about your weeding and the significance of the week, I was happy to make an exception and give you my full blessing to celebrate here. I"m glad I could play a small part in that. As for gardners on your weeding day, I understand the timing was less than ideal andI'm sorry it added any stress to your morning. That is something I could have communicated better, I just didn't know when you were going to be gone for your wedding and I appreciate you flagging it. The property setup, including the studio below and the neighboring unit, is reflected in my listing, and I always encourage guests to reach out with anyquestion

Loved this place

This property is lovely. Every room has an ocean view. The decor kept delighting us. The outside space was inviting. The owner is personable and welcoming. We loved staying here.

Perfect for a treat of a trip. We loved staying in such a iconic Mid-Century Modern home, and being able to just absorb the beauty and serenity of the area right from our "base camp". Bill does a great job settling you in, and explaining the intricacies of his home, as well as some of the unique decorations and features. We loved finding little details, and enjoyed the thoughtful amenities and setup. Highlights for sure are the patio, living room fire place, lovely and comfy beds, and the hot tub, which is perfect for stargazing on a clear night. Bonus points for watching spectacular moon sets from the comfort of my bed. Bill is very detail oriented and organized, and you won't want for anything while you enjoy his home. Thank you - we made happy lasting memories of "being in Carmel". Super duper bonus points for being a nice place for the pups - they loved being "Carmelitas" for a few days.
