Another of Folly's Best! Zen on the East End is a gem. This updated one bedroom apartment is located on the second floor of a private home. The views are amazing so much so you may never want to leave. There is a private entrance and unobstructed long range ocean views. Go down one flight of stairs and across the large deck to the sandy public beach. There is a hammock on the walk way too for a great relaxing time with a book. With a king bed updated shower and amazing views Zen on the East End will become a favorite getaway for couples. Have a little one or are you young at heart? Zen on the East End has a built in playground! Zen on The East End allows up to 2 well-behaved, house-broken, flea-treated dogs with approval. Please include the breed and size of your dogs when you inquire. All photos are current and accurately depict the property. Please book with confidence. This property is licensed by city of Folly Beach as a vacation rental: LIC005068. Relaxation with soundtrack!

Came here in February! Perfect for indoor beach watching and listening without getting too cold! Loved the parking spot and access to the beach!Would have like to have more secure internet connection for work purposes. Bed is soft.

Great place great location

Everything was as advertised great place great location. We are already figuring out when we can return. The only issue we had was arriving late in the dark it was a little difficult to follow directions to get the key in the lock box.

Cold first night

Check in was difficult finding the key was hard and had to contact the manager, lighting is nonexistent going up the stairs and made it dangerous. There are two remotes to work the heating it took to the next day to turn on the heat very cold night.

ON THE BEACH

This property is an "apartment" that is attached to a main house via a separate entrance. We stayed with our 2 year old and had just enough space. There is one bedroom and one bathroom with a private beach access deck. Private but shared with the attached house. Step off the deck though and you're on the beach! Can't get any closer! The kitchen was stocked well and the property was clean. It does show it's age and will probably need updates soon, but overall is a great property. The owner was responsive when needed. The views are great. I would definitely recommend this property if you're looking for a beach getaway! Especially if you are a solo traveler, couple or (maybe) have a small child.

Quick weekend stay

We enjoyed our stay. The apartment is chill and great access for beach! Our only complaints are the Air Conditioning was inadequate, the bathroom window needs a cover (sun was blinding in the morning), the bathroom sink didn’t drain well. Some trash bags and Kleenex would be helpful.

DO NOT RENT!! Not as advertised!! Tons of steps!!!

I will be fair in this review and list the pros and cons- unlike the reviews I read that convinced us to rent in the first place. Pros- the view is good, although it is obstructed. The house sits behind large groves. The bed is comfortable. The shower -very small but very nice. There is a private walkway to the beach, but it’s shared with the main house down several steps- if someone is renting the main house you walk through their back deck Cons: 1. Not as advertised, it’s in a not good part of Folly. The East end past the 13 block. Its a weird set up 2. Very run down inside and out. Soft floors. Needs painting. Toilet slants to left- you sit down and it leans bad. 3. STEPS! there are 28 steps to the top apartment- not recommended for anyone who can’t do steps or if you don’t want to lug a lot of stuff up. 4. NO instructions for how to close the blinds 5. Sliding glass door that didn’t lock!! We thought the first night we fixed it, but it was a false since of security that was very upsetting. Maintenance came, said it’s fixed we double checked and it was not- this consumed multiple hours of our vacation. After several hours they discovered they couldn’t find the part. They gave us a board to put in the door- our last day. 6. The TV is way too high, it’s basically on the ceiling above the top of the sliding glass door on the right. Full disclosure-Folly’s Best Rentals did credit us for one night-350$. It was not enough. We will never rent this property again!!

Hidden Gem

As I pulled in the driveway (a huge plus) I became a little concerned about staying. But I had an anxious 8 year old ready to play on the beach. Once I walked through the rustic wooden door/gate my concerns vanished. Zen earned its name. This place was perfect for my 4 night stay. There isn’t a washer/dryer and that’s not a complaint but could be an issue had I stayed longer . Beautiful view, tons of seashells, and perfect distance from restaurants and shops . Last but not least the air conditioning is perfect and the sofa is incredible 😂

Return to Folly

What a great place. Leave the door open to wake up and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Take a Warm outdoor tub under the moon. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time. Walk right off the deck to the beach. Apartment was clean with everything needed for an easy week. Found the price to be very fair for the view and access. Bed and shower were great and the entire dwelling was even more comfortable than the pictures represented. With gratitude.

Great oceanfront view & access

Superb beachfront location with entire frontage floor-to ceiling-windows. Fenced yard. Great location for 2 labradoodles with private beach access. Somewhat rustic amenities but certainly clean & adequate. Prompt response from on-site rental company with question about window shade operation. Would definitely book again!

Perfect spot!

My husband and I just got home from a quick little getaway. It was the most perfect little place. Exactly what we needed. Lovely views of the ocean and such a cheery bright apartment! Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Beautiful views and everything we needed

We really enjoyed the property. You can’t beat the beach view and access. The interior of the property is cute and easy to stay in. Property manager was wonderful throughout.

Anniversary on Folly at the Zen

WE have stayed at this place before and enjoyed it in the past due to its location, cleanliness, availability of provided condiments etc. This time not so much. No cooking oils/spray, aluminum foil, dish soap, no ice, nothing. Granted we went to the store and got what we needed, but last time made us have expectations. Also, there were no directions for the Roku devices and couldnt get them to work. Direct TV worked with no issues and so did the internet but again, no directions and no written directions on how to leave key and how to unlock the whatever that lock thing was, so we left it in the plastic surrounding box. It also is need of updating. Unfortunately, we will not be staying here again even though we love the location and enjoyed our past stays.

Great stay

I really enjoy my stay here. I fixed the auto shade for the center front window for the next guy. It’s right off the beach. Folks hit that beach but not overcrowded. It was fun watching surfers every morning from the porch and only about 1.5 miles to the pier if you want to visit there. I’m not thrilled about the extra charges from the property management company that organizes for the owner and that’s the only thing that would prevent me returning. If you can afford those fees then don’t worry and go for it. My child says “I really liked how squishy the bed was!”

July vacation

Perfect size for a couple. I didn't realize how close to the Washout it was on the 13th block so the beach was much busier than we're used to but it was entertaining to sit on the top deck and watch all the surfers. Loved the record player and functioning tub on the deck. Parking spot/pad fit our large SUV. One of the only places we've ever rented that gives you more than enough bath towels for your stay.

Kid and dog friendly apartment on the beach

Zen on the East End was absolutely fabulous! We loved that the entire yard was fenced as well as gates on the huge deck! The owners weren’t in town so we had the entire deck and yard to ourselves. The apt had a comfortable, clean king sized bed. The living room and kitchen were great as well! Ocean views galore!! It’s perfect for a couple and dog!! I loved that it was a quiet but easily accessible by golf cart. to the hopping center street!! We rented a golf cart for the 3 days and toured all over the island. We’ll definitely be back!!

Zen of the East End: Upstairs Appartment

We had a great time the place is right on the water and since it was offseason it was like having a private beach. There is a town 1.5 miles down the road that has shops, food, and live music that was perfect to get out at night. Close to Charleston as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for weekend getaway

The apartment is exactly as advertised. It was very clean and comfortable! The view was amazing and it was an easy walk to the beach. There were a ton of surfers every morning to watch.

Perfect Relaxation Spot

This is the place to stay if you want privacy, a beautiful view, and a cozy place. We wanted a girls getaway and this was perfect! The view is gorgeous with a private deck and we were able to hear the ocean throughout the entire apartment. This is now my favorite place to stay in Folly Beach. We will be back!
