Charming Chatham Beach House; Walk to Hardings Beach

You will love Rhododendron House -- a recently updated 2 bedroom vacation house. This private hilltop retreat is located 3/10 miles from one of Chatham's most popular family beaches, Hardings Beach. The short walk saves you $20 a day in beach parking fees! Newly painted inside and out, the house comes fully equipped with beach chairs/coolers, grill, bikes, two kayaks, outdoor shower and washer/dryer. Recent renovations include new Master Bedroom with King Size Bed, entirely new kitchen and patio deck. Main Street in Chatham is less than 3 miles from the house and has outstanding shops, restaurants, art galleries, parks, band concerts, baseball games and a library that has summer programs for the whole family. Come enjoy a comfortable stay in Chatham and fall in love with our wonderful town on the elbow of the Cape.


Nearby Attractions: Bike and walk on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. Cape League baseball is in full swing from mid June to the first week in August. Visit the playground, wonderful art galleries, bistros, antique shops, nautical stops and candy shops. Keep an eye out for "Sharks in the Park" or "Whales in the Park". Watch the Chatham fishermen unload their boats at the local fish pier, and enjoy some of the best fresh caught local seafood in New England. Visit the historical Chatham Lighthouse. Fresh water and salt water fishing along the shoreline. There are thousands of seals that are easily spotted along the ocean front, especially from the Chatham Fish Pier. Seal tours are available. Great White Sharks are around off the Chatham Coast as well.

Restaurants: There are a variety of restaurant choices available in Chatham, as well as in the neighboring towns of Harwich, Brewster and Orleans. The best seafood on the Cape is available right in downtown Chatham.....

Fishing: Some of the finest fishing can be found on Cape Cod. We can provide you with a number of fishing spots and local fishing Charters. Chatham is THE destination for World Class Bluefin Tuna and Striped Bass Fishing. The cool waters off the Cape Cod elbow make this a prime destination for multiple game fish. Whales are also abundant, just off the coastline.

Excellent cottage for a small family that wants easy access to beautiful beaches and dining. The house has everything you need to enjoy your vacation and David is very responsive and accommodating.

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful time staying here! The living room/dining area is wonderful with a lot of light, and we spent a lot of time on the back deck. It is walkable to the bay, and was perfect for our needs!

Great house in a great location

My friends and I enjoyed our stay so much! Clean, comfortable, excellent location far enough out of town to be away from the crowds but close enough that it was super easy to get to. Love that it was such a quick bike ride to a quiet, beautiful beach as well.

Great spot, comfortable, private

Had a good week-long stay. Upon arrival, the cottage looked and smelled clean. Quiet location, easy walk to a beautiful beach. Nice to have an updated kitchen, washer/dryer, sheets and towels provided.

Perfect setup for a small family beach vacation. The walk to beautiful Harding’s Beach was even shorter than anticipated - and several bikes were available to make it even shorter. Beach accessories all provided and in good working condition. As for the house - new kitchen appliances were great, beds were comfortable, air conditioning in both rooms - and the deck was a great place to spend time in morning and evening. Best of all, Dave was a fantastic host - kind, generous, very communicative. Would come back in a heartbeat!

Great stay in Chatham

We had a great stay and experience. The host was super helpful with all my questions, answering promptly and thoroughly. The cottage had everything we needed, and then some, like a basement with a pool/ping pong table. It was very quiet, which i appreciated since I'm a light sleeper. The beach is a short walk, though we preferred the Lighthouse Beach a few miles away, and the ocean beaches of the Cape Cod National Seashore, which is about a 25 minute drive.

Cozy charming private cottage close to Hardings Beach

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rhododendron house. It had all the amenities we could have wanted. New kitchen appliances, and washer and dryer which we loved! Lots of pots and pans, plenty of dishes and some spices too. Comfortable beds, plenty of towels. Close to town and a nice walk to the beach. We loved the privacy the rhododendron grove provided. It is on a steep hill with a tall step up to the front door so I would not recommend it for individuals with limited mobility. All in all a wonderful spot. Host was very communicative and friendly.

Chatham vacation

Overall the cottage was adequate but the steepness of the driveway and its uneven paving was a challenge. The cottage has a decent living area. The kitchen is fairly new but the cabinet space could use some attention. Every cabinet was filled with mismatched items. Storing food was an issue. Appliances were nice. Deck area a plus. The proximity to the beach a plus too.

Great Stay

We loved staying at the beach house. It is even more beautiful in person, and so bright in the living and dining room! It had everything we needed and was so close to the beach that we walked it multiple times. It was just what we were looking for and we would absolutely stay here again.

perfect week

We just spent a perfect week at this house, the location is amazing, my kids loved boogie-boarding at Hardings Beach, watching the fishing boats come in at the pier and all the fun ice cream places around. The house had everything we needed, the deck is great to eat outdoors and the outdoor shower is awesome. We would definitely go back!

Great house near the beach

We loved our week at Rhodedendron House. It's very comfortable, well equipt for a small family. The pictures are current and accurate. This is a real Cape Cod beach cottage that has all the modern amenities but retains it's summer charm. Hardings Beach is great with a long stretch of beach to spread out and walk. Dave provided great local info and was available via text if needed.

Pretty lot, quiet and private

The cottage had everything we needed, including a nicely landscaped lot that was private and quiet. Senior citizens like us may wish there was a railing on the front steps, but owner says he will have one installed during the off season.

Location is great. Didn't know we would be doing laundry.

Spent 2 nights here with family and totally enjoyed Chatham and Cape Cod. Pros: The location is great with an easy walk to Hardings Beach. Quick ride into Chatham Main St., Lighthouse, restaurants, ice cream shops, etc. Chatham is also only an hour or so from Provincetown for whale watch boats and exploring Ptown. Dave is great with communication and very responsive to questions. The back deck is very pleasant for morning coffee or lunch with nice sunshine. The kitchen was modern and functional. Wifi was fast and the TV had real cable. Cons: We must have missed it in the listing and if so I apologize, but we had no idea we would be making beds upon arrival and then needing to wash and dry all the bed linens and towels before departure. Also the lot could use some landscaping and the garage looks like it's in decay so the arrival impression is not great. The closet in master bedroom was full of clutter, which I was surprised all the stuff was not stored in the basement so as to leave the closet nice and clean.

Location, Location, Location

The house is very close to Hardings Beach- it was a delight to walk the beach every morning and bring the kids down every day to soak in some sun. The location is super. The house is older & small but clean. The appliances are new. Although towels and linens are provided, I'd suggest bringing your own. The walk to the beach is lovely and we hit some awesome weather. We used two beach chairs from the garage but brought our own umbrella, beach mat and cooler. The house has a nice back deck and great outdoor shower. Try going to Mac's Chatham Fish & Lobster for dinner- don't let the lines scare you. It moved quick! The house owner is great and answers any questions you may have. It was reassuring to know he was a text away. Thanks Dave for a great week at the Cape!

I grew up spending my Summers in Chatham and fell in love with this beach town. I spend as much time as I can in town and love every minute of it. It is ocean therapy! I work diligently every Spring to update and maintain this house, and enjoy the opportunity to share it with folks as well.

Private, set back from the road, but with easy access to Hardings Beach. Plenty of Parking up by the house. It is the perfect location for all things Chatham! The cottage features the largest Rhododendrons I have ever seen. Several are 50 years old and over 40 feet tall! They provide a wall of privacy to nearby houses. They are breathtaking when in bloom, usually around Memorial Day weekend into late June.
