Family-friendly, spacious, comfortable, and charming 1560 sq ft upstairs duplex with extra bedroom and living/play area in loft. Kitchen and 1 bath. Close to shopping, restaurants, parks, tennis court, and downtown. 10 blocks to the Mayo Clinic.

Cute home built in 1923 packed with character. One queen bed in master bedroom and two twin beds in the upstairs loft. Fully furnished kitchen with a breakfast nook that offers great morning sunlight and bar seating. Flat screen TV with access to WiFi. There is also a double bed hide-a-bed and we can add up to 2 air mattresses if needed.
Private entrance. Upstairs and loft area are all yours. Shared coin operated laundry on the main floor with locking door for your privacy.

As this is an upstairs apartment, keep in mind that there are stairs. If climbing stairs is difficult for you, this may not be the listing for you.
We have a television with the ability to get Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu (personal login required). We DO NOT have cable available.
General quiet hours are from 10PM-6AM.

We have window AC units on each level.
The thermostat is in the apartment downstairs. We do provide extra fans and heaters for you to use. If you are too hot or cold please let us know and we will contact the tenant below to change the temperature accordingly.

Oct 2024: Safety issue

Locked out of rental. Owner acknowledged that door lock freezes and locks people out some times. This is a safety issue for those that rent. Owner was quick to respond by having a friend come over and let me in. Black mold on ceiling, cobwebs on ceiling lights, dusty. Could not regulate heat in rental unit, very cold at night in rental. Owner was good to work with, but I should not have had to asked for the lock on door to work. Washer and dryer are a shared between residents in house. VERY DISAPPOINTING

Property

It would have been nice to get a heads up about mowing the lawn and having all the grass swept off of the sidewalk so we weren't walking through it and put it into the car or the house. TV remote was not in there The remote that was there did not go to that TV so we could not hook up our computer. The extras were nice. Surprisingly the two air conditioners kept the house cooled off. Not a bad place to stay would consider staying again.

A used 1950's vibe property, subsistence level accommodations. Furniture poor hardly usable.

No complaints but here’s what you need to expect:

Just keep in mind that the property is very old and so are all the appliances and furniture. When I say old, I mean clawfoot bathtub old. It’s not bad- they all seem to work fine- I just wasn’t expecting that based on the pictures. The house is also set up pretty weird and there are a lot of stairs so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues. Other than that, can’t complain. The place is very clean. The renters seem very nice. There was a moment in which the water needed to be temporarily shut off but they communicated that to me in a kind and respectful way, and the water was back up in less than an hour. You would be staying in the unit in front of the building, and another family lives in the other unit. They aren’t intrusive, it just isn’t expected as the property is listed as a house and not an apartment/ townhome. At the end of the day, I’m giving them a 4 star rating instead of 5 because I believe there are things that should be updated in the listing so renters can better know what to expect.

A good fit

While my wife was in Mayo Clinic, this apartment was close enough to walk to the hospital every day. There were some small details that could have been repaired (sink sprayer was broken, and kitchen garbage can should be replaced), but overall this fit my daughter and myself very well.

Nice stay in an older home.

The location was near our daughter's apartment and a two minute walk to a nice park, so it was good for us. The living room furniture could definitely be updated to be more comfortable, but the dining room chairs were wonderful. It was nice having all of the space. There's a separate upper section with the twin beds that can be used as a play room for smaller children. My teens enjoyed having that quiet space to themselves. Mark and Sara were kind and very responsive, answering all of my questions or concerns quickly.

Beautiful Place

I love the unique layout of this location. They have everything you could need close to what you need. The owners are adamant the experience is top notch and will bend over backwards to ensure that's the case. I look forward to staying here many times in the future as long as it is available.

Perfect location for us!

The things we loved about being here: Park right in front! Wild rabbits in the yard! Coffee shop, gas and food very nearby! Quiet! Easy! Fireworks: We were there on July 4 and from 1/2 a block away from the place we saw the main Rochester fireworks show and all the neighborhood shows surrounding us … it was awesome!

Pictures look better than reality.

Unfortunately...We were disappointed with this property. We feel like the pictures (and the description) do not accurately reflect the current condition of the property. It appears that the pictures online are somewhat dated. Also, I know older homes sometimes have an odor about them; and this one definitely does; I could smell an odor as I was unlocking the front door; a combination of musty and maybe unclean carpets??? Not really sure! We expressed our concerns w/ the Hosts; however, they did not agree with our assessment...which, obviously, is their right to do so. Bottom line: We were so disappointed and uncomfortable w/ the condition of this property that we actually chose not to stay there and found a hotel room instead.

Little place to stay when visiting Mayo

This was all we needed for our visit to Mayo. Walking distance to everything, if your a walker. We walked to the hospital and restaurants. Thanks Sara and Mark.

The owners we right on time and had a local property manager that came by in person to talk to us. Because we were stuck with no place to stay when we needed additional days but since we were so.busy at the mayo she immediately came over and advised is as soon as she knew it was rented which gave us time to get an alternativr
