The Stonehouse Loft is a brand new building, built from the ground up in 2015. Designed by your host, with plans drawn by Jess Wilton, a great local Durango architect, it was built by people (your host again!) and for people who love modern design. The Loft features radiant heated concrete floors throughout, and a modern, bright, but cozy vibe. Located a half block off of Main Avenue in downtown Durango, you can walk to all the shops, restaurants, galleries and bars in minutes from this centrally located apartment. A king size bed, lovely shower and bathroom, and well equipped kitchen provide you with the comforts and conveniences of home. Close to mountain biking, hiking, the river and the Durango Silverton Narrow gauge railway. This property puts you close to everything Durango has to offer. I moved to Durango right out of high school in 1991. I waited tables at a restaurant for three months before deciding I needed to do more. I went to college, and then lived and worked in NYC for twenty years before finally making it back to Durango in 2010.
I'm an Artist, and a builder, and the Stonehouse Loft gave me the opportunity to bring these two skills together. The Loft is a completely new building which I built from the ground up to be a modern, comfortable and convenient downtown hideaway. I love mountain biking on the trails around town, hiking, backpacking, rafting, and exploring the deserts and mountains with my partner Amber Johnson, a Durango Native (that rare breed!) that i'm lucky enough to share my adventures with.

The Stonehouse Loft is a unique downtown property that is super close to Main Street, but provides a remarkable feeling of seclusion, even in the heart of busy downtown Durango. The Stonehouse Loft is a brand new, energy efficient and modern building with radiant heat, on demand hot water, huge windows with abundant natural light, and an open airy feel. There is a large private patio and garden, which is tucked away behind a fence and deck, but that offers views of the large trees in Buckley Park, right across the street. From the Stonehouse Studio you can walk anywhere you might want to go in downtown Durango. All the best restaurants and shops, galleries, bars and grocery stores are just minutes away on foot. All of the Mountain Biking Trailheads are easily accessed from downtown, and are there are literally hundreds of miles of trails you can access directly from the driveway in just a few minutes ride.
