This cottage is located on Colington Island and is off the beaten path but still only 3.5 miles (a quick 8 minute drive) to the beach. You will be welcomed to this very clean and cozy, fully stocked and full of character cottage with a WATER VIEW OF THE SOUND. This cottage is located 1 lot from the sound and has a great water view.

The cottage is ground level and free of stairs. All doors are wide and handicap friendly. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. There is a utility room with washer and dryer available for guest use. Both bedrooms have queen size beds. The sleeper sofa also offers a queen size bed. Linens and bath towels/wash cloths are provided. The kitchen is stocked and has everything you need to prepare your evening meal after a day at the beach. This home is furnished with local hand painted eclectic decor. The outdoor shower welcomes you after a trip to the beach or for a shower under the stars. Just around the corner you can go crabbing on what us locals call “the crabbing bridge” such a great time and great way to make memories! This cottage is fantastic and waiting to offer you the perfect vacation!

Both bedrooms have Zinus 12 hybrid mattresses. These are a medium firmness in hopes of finding comfort for the majority of guests.

Thorough enjoyment of the cottage on Colington Road

This cottage was the perfect accommodations for my husband, my mother, my dog, and myself! It's location is convenient to nearby eateries and activities. The host did an amazing job at making sure we had all we needed, and had all the information we needed. Her recommendations for treats and eats were excellent. The cottage was clean and inviting. Well done!

Turnkey Excellence!

What a gem! This cottage is out of the hustle-bustle but within minutes of the beach. Pristine-clean and fully stocked, you will want for nothing. We loved the ease of pulling up to the door and rolling in luggage directly to our bedroom! The sound view out back is lovely. The cottage is fully-stocked with staples and snacks, amenities like Q-Tips, flossers, even toothbrushes! Although we didn't cook, all the cookware and packaging supplies are included. Tanya is truly a super host! She even went the extra mile finding and shipping two hats my husband accidentally tossed in the outdoor trash bin at checkout. Quick and easy communication made this a perfect stay. Unless it's the peak of summer heat, we've now learned how much better it is to stay on the sound side and avoid the biting wind and sand. While here, don't miss the charming Colington Cafe. We had the unusual fortune of being a walk-in but were immediately seated and served. The food is exquisite and they have a 100% food service sanitation rating. Back on the highway is JK's for those who appreciate an excellent steak and an 8" long baked potato. And don't miss Kill Devil Grill! Across the street from this cottage is Harbor Grill & Pizza. Live music and great pizza, fun! We love this comfortable, conveniently-situated cottage and will definitely be back! Thanks, Tanya!

Memorable Family Getaway with our dogs

Our family recently stayed at OBX Island Cottage and it was an unforgettable experience for all of us, including our dogs! The property was not just pet-friendly but truly embraced the idea of making our furry family members feel at home. From the spacious accommodations that provided plenty of room for our 2 dogs to relax. The accomodations were comfortable for my family and the property is well equipped with all the things we needed. Tanya went above and beyond, offering thoughtful touches like dog bowls and treats. She quickly responded to all our questions. Our vacation was stress-free and very memorable. We were thrilled to discover that many of the local attractions , nearby beach and dining spots were dog-friendly too, allowing us to enjoy meals and activities as a whole family. This made our vacation so much more enjoyable and relaxing, knowing our dogs were welcome everywhere we went. Overall, this cottage provided the perfect setting for a family vacation where our dogs could be included in all the fun. We can’t wait to come back!

Love the House

House was nicely updated and everything was as described. Everything was there that we needed but a grill. It was easy to get to and a good location to do sightseeing. The view could have been a little nicer.

Tanya, the host was AMAZNG! The property was super cute and clean! Tanya would check in occasionally to make sure everything was going well. She thought of EVERTHING. In case we forgot anything she had toothbrushes, hair ties, beach towels, sunscreen, bug spray. She also had coffee pods and creamers along with some other little kitchen food/drink items. She is very thoughtful of her guest. The cottage was very clean and located in a quiet area despite the busy road. The view in the back on the water was beautiful and peaceful. I had an encounter with the back neighbor, he was super friendly. This was my first Vrbo experience and she certainly set the expectations high moving forward. If you get the opportunity, I recommend booking a stay! I would love to go back.

Hidden Gem

This cottage was everything that was described and pictures showed in the listing. It was cozy and felt like a home away from home. Very clean! Nice decor and very well stocked. Close to everything. Tanya was a wonderful communicator. She got back to us within an acceptable timeframe and answered any questions we had and made great suggestions.

Perfect Family Getaway

We had an amazing week at the cottage. The place was centrally located and we easily visited all of OBX from here. The house was sparkling clean. Our 14 month old love the open space since he was just learning to walk. They have a lot of nice touches and extras for all the things you might forget. We would definitely stay here again.

Great little cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage! Tanya was a great host, very communicative and provided lots of small things including dog treats and a dog bed for my doggo 🐶. The cottage was clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend!

Great for anyone!

We have rented many vrbo’s in the past and I have never been in a home that is so well equipped and welcoming. There is anything you could possibly want from snacks, spices, toothbrushes and on and on. Very dog friendly and wonderful for mobility issues. Unloading and loading the car was so easy since you park right at the front door. We recommend this vrbo highly and Tanya is a gem.

Our favorite place

We have stayed at the Island cottage numerous times and have never been disappointed. We ran into some medical issues with my son this last trip and the Host could not have been more kind and helpful, they even offered to watch our pets while we went to the hospital. Love this place and the people. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Great weekend getaway!

Very cute, well taken care of cottage, where our family of four felt welcomed and comfortable. Everything was very clean and the owner was so friendly and engaging. The location was perfect for quiet evenings and just a short drive to the beach and great food and fun.

Kill Devil Cottage

My wife and I had a great time at this cottage a bit off the beaten path. This place has a lot of character and the property manager did a great job to accommodate us as guests and also our family dog. We were really appreciative of the amenities and the property itself. The owner has went above and beyond by providing a binder full of information anyone would ever need to know. This maps out fun activities, restaurants, etc. We really enjoy trying different restaurants while visiting a new place. The Saltbox Cafe is not far down the road and we had the opportunity to eat their food twice while we stayed. This was one of our favorite places we've ever tried while staying at the Outer Banks but you should either get a reservation or show up when they open. We also were able to take our dog on a nice little hike in the Nags Head Preserve. All in all we had a great trip. I do not typically leave reviews but this place is deserving of a 5 star review. I will definitely be checking the availability of this place for my next trip to the Outer Banks.

We loved staying at this property. It was VERY clean, had a beautiful view of the sound, and was in a great location. Close to everything you would need or want but still in a pretty quiet area. Tanya provided so many extras throughout the house, in case you forgot something. She really put a lot of thought into what her guests may need. We were very impressed. Would definitely stay here again.

Island cottage

This place was perfect for my 88 yo father who cannot do stairs. Tanya’s very thoughtful touches made the stay exceptional. The beds are so comfortable. The sheets are high quality. Tanya has so many extras in the cottage you need to stay there and see them for yourself.

Amazing little place

This place is by far the best Vrbo that I have rented. I am a travel nurse and I rent these little places a lot to utilize the areas I am in as much as I can for adventures. I appreciated all the extra touches like the spare toothbrushes and bathroom items, all the kitchen “things” you could need, the multiple seating areas, comfy beds, usb charging ports throughout. The outside shower was amazing as we did fish the whole time and it cooled us off ;) Although we didn’t use them, the dog treats, ponchos, etc were very thoughtful. While fishing in the sound, we caught a tiny flounder, a red drum, tons of black drums, pinfish, croakers, a few fish we couldn’t identify and crabs. This place was quiet and the views of the water were amazing!

End of June Getaway - KDH, NC

This cottage was comfortable, cozy, and pet friendly. The hospitality for both humans and pets was outstanding. It was well stocked and had everything you could ask for. Colington Rd is right in the middle of it all. You had Kitty Hawk to your left and Nags Head to your right plus short drives to everything else in the Outer Banks. There is a coffee/ice cream shop basically across the street. The host (Tanya) gave many suggestions and we tried many of them - all good! Very relaxing, laid back vacation that we enjoyed with our 2 dogs - beach & hiking everyday! Thank you Tanya for being a great host & an awesome cottage for our stay in KDH!

My 16 year old daughter and our dog stayed at this amazing cottage for three nights…we all wished we could have stayed longer. I have never rented a more well equipped house in my life! We had everything we needed and more. The cottage was clean and welcoming! We can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic!!

Best VRBO property I've ever rented. The owner has thought of absolutely every little thing you could need during your stay, including a well stocked kitchen. Super comfortable, bright, and spacious. Beautiful view of the sound. Quick access to the beach and everything you need. Excellent communication from the property manager, with many useful tips about the area and things to do. Would definitely stay here again!

Fun little getaway!

This was such a great little escape, perfect for us and our dog! The property manager was very nice and gave us great recommendations for food and shops and was very quick to reply. The house was very clean with a cute basket of complementary snacks and waters. We could walk to a pizza place down the road and to a coffee shop, both were fantastic! We also pulled out some chairs and relaxed by the water which had a great view! Would definitely come back!
