In response to COVID-19 we are taking responsible measures to make your stay as safe as possible by expanding our cleaning program to include disinfecting all high-touch surfaces:
Kitchen counters, appliance handles and dining surfaces
Bathroom counters and hardware, including toilets
Light switches
Television remote controls
Interior and exterior door knobs

The Flip Flop Inn is conveniently located between both bridges, for easy access to mainland and two grocery stores, Publix and Food Lion. Just up the road is Southport, 6.8 miles to oak island lighthouse, 7.1 to the Marina, 14.4 to Fort Fisher Aquarium , shops, restaurants and cafes.
6 miles to helicopter ride or sky dive.
15 miles to Southport Ferry,great ride to Carolina Beach, in the summer onThursday night they have a free to public: band then fireworks and rides
Sunday night children’s movie at the lake

This Ocean Front, 3 bedroom/2 bath/Living Rm/full Kitchen home amenities include an oceanfront porch, outdoor shower, full sized washer/dryer, kitchen includes dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, bakeware, pans, a dishwasher, a coffee maker. Just bring your spices and food and have at it.

We love our furry family member and welcome you to bring you small dogs, up to 20lb for the adventure.

The cottage is a little older, but very clean and located right on the beach. Jeanette, the manager couldn’t have been more helpful and answered any questions we had right away.we would stay again.

This was the perfect ocean front spot for us to spend our 4th of July week. This cozy cottage felt like home as soon as we arrived. We loved the laid back vibes and spotless kitchen.

Very clean and convenient. The sand fleas outside and sand flies were bad due to weather, but that is no reflection on the property.

Cozy cottage on the water

I loved the location of this vintage 60's beach house. The house is cozy. Having that first cup of coffee in the morning looking at the waves from the porch was just heaven! The house is in such a good location, everything like grocery stores and restaurants are just minutes away. My family enjoyed our vacation very much.

Great Beach Cabin

Great place! As close to the beach as you can be. I would say that this place is just what it is like in the photos. We weren't able to bring our dog but could see how they would have loved it.

Older home which is good condition for the age. Place was clean and beach access was great. Nice amenities and easy to access.

The house could use some love. The heater would make a loud noise every time it turned on, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

Great stay at Oak Island

The location was perfect! Loved being able to walk out the back door and onto the beach. Six of us fit comfortably without feeling crowded. We've been coming to Oak Island for 20 years and have stayed in various rentals - we'll put this on the top of our list when we come again.

Will stay again

I will stay here again, it was everything advertised and more. Host is great, stay couldn't have gone better. Well the tornado watch was intense haha, but house stayed put! Will stay next year also.

A relaxing vacation

Everything in the house was as advertised with a few extra “treats”. The house was clean and inviting. The weather was good. Overall it was a great vacation.

Great location!

Quiet beachfront area, beach access at bottom of stairs from deck, had our section of the sand pretty much to ourselves. House worked great for the two of us and two furbabies. House was clean, didn’t do any cooking so can’t speak to how well appointed the kitchen is, but did get Publix grocery delivery. Lots of restaurants within a few miles. Wonderful stay!

Property was in an amazing location but cottage lacked certain accommodations.

We loved the location, beautiful beach. The cottage itself lacked cable and bathroom amenities such as sink inside master bathroom and tv in master bedroom

Our 16th Anniversary trip!

We had the best overall experience we have ever had on all our VRBO Beach rentals! The location is the best! Walk out the door to the beach and view the ocean for all our meals! Our two Aussies enjoyed their time on the beach as well! Thank you Jeanette for a beautiful experience!🙂

We had a great time at the property and in Oak Island!

The owner / co tact person was outstanding to work with. Everything was set and ready. I would suggest getting a new coffee maker though. The one that’s there works but only after the 5th press of the start button 😊

great location but badly in need of some care

The location of this beach house is great, A/C worked well, bed was comfortable, but there are some things we had some issues with that I do not expect when paying over $500.00 a night to stay somewhere - the house needs quite a bit of interior touch up work, driveway is overgrown, we killed roaches (big and small ones) every night in the house, picture on VRBO indicates the beach and waves can be seen from the deck but the dunes actually block it

Perfect getaway with our furbabies!

Oceanfront, just over the dunes to the beach! Quiet spot with the cross over to the beach directly in front of the house, which was awesome! The porch was nice with 2 new Adirondack rockers and a tall Adirondack chair set for ocean viewing.We were so glad we were able to take our 2 small dogs with us! The hostess even had a blanket furnished for covering the couch so they could sit with us, and a bin of “doggie necessities” in case we forgot anything! Oak island is very dog friendly. The cottage was just as described. It was quaint and reminded me of my childhood where we spent summers on the island. The cottage was clean and easy to maneuver with front stairs to the front door as well as back stairs to go down for beach access. Everything was in working order and we had no issues. The kitchen is small, but perfect for a beach cottage. The kitchen area was well stocked with everything you need for preparation, cooking, and dining.Communication with the hostess was great and she responded quickly to our questions.We will certainly return to this cottage in the future!

We Loved the Flip Flop Inn

My husband and I and two of our grandchildren spent the week at the Flip Flop Inn. We could not have asked for a cuter, more convenient oceanfront beach house!! The house is adorable and very comfortable. We found it very clean and tidy when we arrived. The house is equpped with everything you could ever possibly want or need while vacationing. Stepping off the deck steps, directly onto a beach access pathway was wonderful. The deck/porch is very large and great for relaxing in the evening. Our family fell in love with everything about this rental and we are making plans to stay again next summer! If you are considering this property for your stay, just do it! You won't be disappointed!!

Our stay marred by undisclosed dredging operation

What started out as a pleasant stay became increasingly disruptive as our accomidation was overrun with noise, lights and chaos 24/7 due to sand dune restoration. Bright lights, bulldozers and men were right outside our door throughout day and night. We realize this restoration was important but we would have chosen another beach had this operation been disclosed by the owner. This was our first time renting beachfront, we were very excited only to find out there was no beach to enjoy. We complained to the owner who was dismissive and only offered a small partial refund. My advice to others, do your research and don't depend on the rental property owner to disclose the unpleasantries that could effect their income. If you like peace and quiet you don't want to be anywhere near a dredging operation.

The house was so clean! The house is pet friendly and it had no smell at all. The rooms were clean and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans. View was great and loved being oceanfront. Host was AMAZING! Response time was unlike any other we have rented from. We would definitely stay here again!
