Spacious Cabin on Cedar Creek - Make memories at Shenandoah's best hidden getaway! Cabin is on 30 acres of creek front property. Enjoy the quiet tranquility of the forest, take out the kayaks, do a little fishing, or visit our egg laying chickens.

Ideas for your Cabin Experience...

Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before breakfast, taking in stunning views overlooking Cedar Creek from this two-level cabin, deep in the Virginia countryside.

Cool off in the creek at the local "Swimmin' hole", which ranges from 2 to 4 feet deep, or cast your line in the hopes of catching a brook trout, or other native fish. Bring your PFD, fishing rod, and water shoes. Two Kayaks are available to paddle about - or you can coordinate with your hosts for a 2+ hour kayaking trip on the creek. Extended trips may be dependent on rainfall. Additional charge will apply.

Relax in one of two hammocks in the front yard or lounge down by the Creek. Spend the cool mountain evenings roasting marshmallows by our natural rock fire pit - firewood is provided for guests. Watch fireflies dance among the trees, while you sip a glass of local wine from our two-tiered deck.

Virginia wildlife abounds - walk the trails along the creek, woodlands, and meadows of the Cabin's 30 acres. Sit quietly and you may just see a doe and her fawn, wild turkeys, or a fox or mink. Don't sit quietly and you might see a squirrel. ;) Enjoy wild edibles when in season: Wineberries, Hickory Nuts, Walnuts, and Pawpaws. Yum!

We also have chickens on the property. We don't have a rooster, so you won't be woken by "cockel-doodle-do" in the morning. You can sleep in.

We are a newly retired couple living in another house on the same property about .3 miles away. We will absolutely give you space to use the cabin as your own, but we are available if an issue arises. You may see us around the property gardening or tending to our chickens.

A personal writing retreat, sanctuary and solitude needed.

The Cabin on Cedar Creek is an exceptional place. I wanted a place where I could enjoy solitude and focus on my writing and this was it in every way: comfortable furniture, nice dining room table for writing, and lots of large windows looking out on the woods. The cabin is equipped with everything that could be needed for a weeklong stay. The temperature was mostly in the 50s during the day and the 40s at night. A couple of nights it went down into the 30s. The cabin has an electric heater for the downstairs (great room) and one for the loft where the beds are located. They worked perfectly and kept the cabin comfortable. Upstairs and downstairs ceiling fans worked great to distribute the heat when needed. There is a wood-burning stove with some firewood available. This was a nice touch on the coldest evenings. The rear deck overlooks the forest and Cedar Creek. The creek has a small set of rapids near the cabin which create a lovely sound to go with coffee while watching the sunrise. A picnic table and plenty of chairs are waiting on the deck for you to sit and just breathe. The cabin is about a mile up a gravel road, from the main road, so no traffic and a deep quiet most of the time. There are other homes along the gravel road but not immediately near the cabin. Loads of privacy to recharge or create. If you need supplies, Strasburg and Stephens City are only about 15 minutes away. Rich and Mary are wonderful people and perfect hosts. I plan to return.

Quiet, relaxing getaway in Shenandoah Valley

This cabin is a perfect way to enjoy nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Rich and Mary were excellent hosts. The cabin is situated on a hill overlooking Cedar Creek and was super cozy and rustic but also luxurious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there over Veteran's Day weekend. We enjoyed kayaking and walking the trails around the property. The only disappointment was that we could not have a fire because of the drought. We will definitely visit again during warmer whether so we can kayak some more and enjoy the swimming hole.

Fantastic Cabin!

We loved our stay in this cabin. The owners have thought of everything to make it feel so comfortable and welcoming. The location on the creek is stunning! It is very convenient to the Shenandoah mountains and to Strasburg, Winchester with lots to do. Or, it's so comfortable, you can easily just hang out and enjoy! I highly recommend!

Great cabin getaway

Rich and Mary take excellent care of their cabin and are very welcoming and hospitable hosts. The cabin was meticulously clean, and everything from the beds to the living area was cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed drinking coffee on the patio while listening to the creek and wildlife, and cozying up to the wood stove at night. We visited the area to take advantage of hiking Shenandoah National Park and the cabin was a great spot to access not only the national park but also several other trailheads. Would definitely return again in summer to take advantage of swimming/kayaking in the creek!

Beautiful Property

This was the perfect property for a couple. We enjoyed the quiet. The property was also close enough to towns and cities for that type of entertainment. Also close to many wonderful outdoor activities.

Paradise Found

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for, private, peaceful, and perfect. We were in need of a respite and we never left the house during our stay. We grilled steaks, we napped, we talked and relaxed. It is a magical place, and we loved everything about it. Bravo Rich and Mary!!!

Serene Getaway

Cabin was cozy and spotless with great views of the creek. So quiet and relaxing. Fishing was perfect our little guy caught some small mouth bass and blue gills. Kids enjoyed playing in the creek, fire pit / smores and stargazing. Hosts was so nice and attentive. Was a wonderful getaway with our family of 4. Thank you, Rich and Mary.

Much Needed Vacay

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. The cabin was absolutely gorgeous and well-stocked. The grounds were amazing and you felt secluded. The hosts are amazing! One of the best experiences traveling.

Wonderful

We were so impressed with Mary and Rich as hosts and their hospitality and beautiful property, which is exactly as described. So Homey, and well equipped! We loved relaxing together inside and outside and beautiful small hikes abound around the property as well as the cutest chickens. We had some crazy weather which no one can control and despite that it was the best time. We will be back for sure!

Cabin on the river

The cabin is quaint, comfortable and homey with beautiful views of the river and woods. Be ready for a bumpy ride on the gravel road leading to the cabin.

Perfect Getaway!

We wanted a place to stay that had all the amenities and was super comfortable, but that was also close to all the great hiking in the area. This place was perfect! We hiked every day, and came home to a cozy home after. When we weren't out and about, the creek was a nice place to relax and cool off! Rich and Mary were great, and very communicative, making for a great trip.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway

Beautiful cabin

We love staying at the cabin. It was beautiful and relaxing. Loved waking up to natural light with the windows. Enjoyed the chickens. Wish the stream was deeper for kayaking but the weather is no fault to the owners.

Awesome Creekside Cabin!

We had the most wonderful stay. The setting was just what we needed to relax. The owners were so nice and welcomed us to the cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and chickens! The girls are so fun to watch. It’s set back so you feel secluded yet very close to shopping and other activities. This goes down as one of our best vacations. Thank you Rich & Mary!

Great peaceful spot!

The cabin and property are phenomenal! The creek is so peaceful. We spent several hours on the deck reading and listening to nature. As a bonus, there are kayaks for the little swimming hole! The mown trails were wide and nice and shady. The chickens are friendly and their eggs are tasty. The 3/4 mile long gravel driveway was a bit scary the first time. The elevated tub was a little tricky if you aren't agile (the stool helps), and if you're over 6' tall you might hit your head on the ceiling in the shower. Overall a lovely stay, with a pleasant host. Would love to stay again!

A Quiet Gem of a Place!

This property did not disappoint! Fell in love with it the moment we stepped inside. After days of camping and hiking in Shenandoah Nat'l Park we stayed here for 3 nights to take it slower. The creek was awesome for fishing and kayaking. The decks are great for sitting and just relaxing. The beds are so comfortable. Slept great! Loved that the grill wasn't charcoal. The chickens are so fun to watch. Enjoyed the fresh eggs they provided for our first morning breakfast. Rich and Mary are awesome hosts. Do yourself a favor and book a stay here!

Just a Bit of Heaven on Earth

This cabin was charming worth gorgeous views am amazing setting. Hosts were incredible and even had farm fresh eggs waiting for us. Wonderful people, incredibly peaceful and unique property, well stocked kitchen. Couldn't ask for more!

Peaceful & Special

My daughter (10) and I stayed here for a short, last-minute getaway. What a special place! My daughter and I loved seeing the chickens, meeting the goats, and finding other critters (like turtles, crayfish, chipmunks, groundhogs, etc). The house is very comfortable, with great A.C. and just about anything you might need on your trip! We also loved swimming in the creek and just enjoying the amenities. We never even turned on the TV; there was just so much to enjoy. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Rich and Mary!

Excellent location and cabin

We had a great time at this location. The cabin had everything we needed, including privacy. We took local walks around the area every evening, fished in the river and hiked in the area. The hosts were phenomenal and responded to any questions we had immediately. We hope to visit again!!

Amazing Experience!

Rich and Mary are top shelf hosts!! They literally thought of everything needed for a short cozy 25th anniversary stay. The cabin was immaculate, the chickens and goats were fun to interact with, and communications were quick and easy. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We highly recommend and hope to be back! :)

My wife and I are semi-retired, and love country living. We raised 3 children (now adults) in Northern Virginia, and moved to the Shenandoah Valley once we were "empty nesters". We fell in love with the natural beauty that is here, including the animals that live in the forest, and the birds that come to visit. Ask me about all the animals we've seen. You may be surprised!
