Journey back in time and relax in the Bluebird Cottage of Mountain Rest Lake. Nestled in the woods, this charming lake front retreat offers a multitude of activities for peace seekers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
The newly restored 1940's cottage is a sanctuary of rest and beauty. Walk to the dock and enjoy paddling, fishing, swimming or just relaxing lakeside. Sit on one of the screened porches with your morning coffee and breathe in the fresh air. Enjoy a perfect sunset view and star gazing at the end of your day. Close to great hiking trails and waterfalls, Clemson football games (45 min.) or a visit to Clayton GA (30 min.) or Highlands NC (35 min.). There are excellent dining opportunities within 15-30 miles. Art galleries, antique stores and many boutique shops are nearby and waiting to be explored!

Immaculate Stay

Cozy getaway

Bluebird Cottage was the sweetest and coziest spot for a weekend of resting, relaxing and recharging! Every little thing was perfectly planned and right at your fingertips. We will visit again!

Beautiful cottage

My husband and I came to celebrate Valentine's day in a peaceful, calm place and we couldnt have found a better one! This cottage is perfect for peace and seclusion, but not too far from civilization. We loved it and will defintely come back soon!

The cottage is so cute, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It has everything you could possibly need for a stay. We enjoyed the peaceful area and scenery on the lake. Thanks for a great weekend, and we hope to be able to come back again some time.

Amazing!

We had a wonderful stay on our girls getaway! Can’t say enough about how beautiful and cozy the cottage is. As long as you make a grocery trip prior to arrival, you don’t have any reason to leave if your stay is about relaxation. It so quiet, no noisy traffic. The lake is peaceful, I could just sit and look at it all day! I text pics to my husband while there, he said he’d like to stay there a week but it’s no pets are allowed so we wouldn’t be able to book a trip, we don’t travel without our fur babies (Yorkies). Other than that, it’s a perfect retreat!

Peaceful oasis

We could not have had a more lovely stay! This lakefront cottage exceeded all of our expectations. The host has thought of all of the little details that make a stay more easy and comfortable. House is well stocked with water fun, games, books, kitchen items, etc. we definitely plan to come back.

Can’t imagine a more relaxing spot

Stayed with my husband and father-in-law while in town for a nearby wedding and all three of us instantly fell in love with the place. Perfect size for the three of us, cozy and charming with so many options for sitting and enjoying the outdoors or indoors, so clean and well maintained, so much to offer! It really felt like a comfortable home and not just a place we were renting for a few days. Not to mention the area itself is so quiet and beautiful. We had a wonderful time and would come back in a second!

Always a pleasure

We’ve stayed at Bluebird Cottage several times and have never been disappointed. The “Welcome Back”card from Barbie was a nice touch. We also loved the addition of televisions in both bedrooms. It’s a great spot to sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet of the lake.

Best Hidden gem in the upstate

This is probably the best place that I have ever stayed! The attention to small details and the welcome gifts made us feel right at home from the moment we walked into the door. The Beauty and the peaceful quiet on the lake are unmatched. We got to go out do some hiking and come back just relax and enjoy our time together. A GEM at Mtn Rest Lake!

The bluebird cottage is a very special place. Clean, cozy, well decorated with a great host. It has EVERYTHING you need to escape the hustle and bustle of life! We enjoyed sitting on the back porch looking at the peaceful lake and also a little fishing off the pier. We would recommend this property to anyone who needs a BREAK and just needs to slow down and relax.

I love this spot and Barbie’s bluebird cottage! Well appointed and a perfect place to get away, enjoy the lake during warm summer days and visit with friends. Perfect place for a couple or two close friends. My third stay and I am sure I will return.♥️♥️

This is an adorable cottage. It’s an older property that is quaint and quirky. The decor is charming, and the house provides a peaceful atmosphere. The dock and screened porch are perfect for sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The little lake is very easy to kayak around, and is also fun to just float in. The location of the cottage is also great for short drives to many beautiful waterfalls. I enjoyed this property so much last year, that I returned again this summer.

Loved this cottage!

The cottage is just the most cozy space, decorated so stylishly- I’d say cottage chic. The home had everything we needed for fun on the lake and relaxation. There were several board games that we enjoyed playing, we used the kayaks, canoe, and tubes in the lake. The water was absolutely perfect- so refreshing! We really enjoyed morning coffee and several meals out on the screened porch overlooking the lake. There is tons of nearby trails to hike as well as trails in Oconee State Park. Also- Yellowbranch Falls is a must! We had an amazing mountain retreat!

Perfect, quiet lake-side cottage

We had a wonderful time at this comfortable lake-side cottage. The 1940s cabin was completely restored and enhanced, but retains the character and charm of the original structure. This cabin was owned by my grandfather and I have great memories of visiting here in the 60’s. Then in 1974 my wife and I spent our honeymoon here, and just this week returned to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Barbie and Steve are most gracious hosts and couldn’t have been nicer in accommodating us. The cabin is warmly furnished and equipped with every amenity you could want. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped. The new large screened porch on the back of the house is a major addition, providing a comfortable sitting area with a gas fire pit for those cool evenings. The front porch overlooking the lake is a great place to sit, take meals and listen to the various sounds of wildlife. We did not take advantage of the various aquatic activities, other than enjoying coffee or wine on the dock, but there are kayaks and a canoe available for cruising or fishing. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing environment, you can’t go wrong with the Bluebird Cottage.

Lakeside cabin

I fell in love with this place the moment I walked in the door. We stayed here because our son recently moved to the area. Everything you could possibly want or need is provided. We were going to take our son & his girlfriend out for dinner but we decided to stay in & grill. We enjoyed kayaking, hiking, & just hanging out on the back porch by the water. We will definitely stay here again. Such a fun & relaxing weekend.

Anniversary get away

We came for a weekend get away for our 30th anniversary-and this place was amazing! We chose it for its close location to our daughters, one at Clemson the other at UGA. Yet once we got here, we did not want to leave! What a true treasure! We will be back! Perfect for a couples get away, clean, easy to get to, very quiet, beautiful lake and everything you could want or need at the house! Loved it!
