Semi-Oceanfront home with direct access to the beach!

Welcome to The Misty Mermaid where we invite you and your family to enjoy this spectacular vacation home. The home is a semi-oceanfront 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom that sleeps eight. You will enjoy beautiful sunrises over the Atlantic and Sunsets over the Pamlico Sound. The house is located only 100 feet from the beach access with no busy streets to cross. From the third story balcony you have views of Hatteras Lighthouse.
At The Misty Mermaid you are only a short drive to dining, groceries, and adventures. There are many restaurants close to the property, all of which have excellent food. If you decide to stay at home for a meal, then the grocery store is only a half mile away. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to cook your favorite meal. There is breakfast bar that seats four, and a dining table that will accommodate eight. There is also a charcoal park-style grill located at the bottom of the stairs outside if you like to grill. As for adventures, you can enjoy surf fishing, fishing in the sound, kite surfing, or taking a drive on the four-wheel drive beach just a half mile away.

Great stay at the Misty Mermaid!

We had a wonderful stay at the Misty Mermaid- it was beautiful and clean…lots of space and all we needed. Short walk to the beach and great views from the multiple balconies. We would definitely stay again! Also great communication with owner!

Cool house, Great location

We had a great time! Very close to the beach. Short drives to everything else you'd want/need. The kids loved the set up of the house. We'd definitely stay here again.

Great location!

Loved the location and proximity to the beach. Nice area without crowded beaches. Good selection of restaurants. We will definitely be back and consider renting The Misty Mermaid again. The owner was pleasant and easy to deal with plus very responsive. We enjoyed the house too!

Girls beach trip

The house was very nice and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen. Thoroughly enjoyed the deck in the evenings and screened in porch in the mornings. Location was convenient to groceries and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay there.

Relaxing time at the beach

The property was well located near the Food Lion grocery and many restaurants. The beach location in front of the house was never crowded. We always felt we had space on the beach to ourselves. We enjoyed our relaxing vacation at this beach house and would return again.

Great Family Retreat

This home was perfect for our family. Great views, peaceful setting. The beach wasn’t crowded and the access is in the front yard! You can see Hatteras Lighthouse from the top deck, bonus we brought our binoculars & enjoyed zooming in. Highly recommend for a family! I enjoyed the exercise from the stairs because all the local food was irresistible!

House was great and just as described in the listing. Very clean. We had a slight issue with check in (not the owners' fault) and they responded immediately to our request for help. Short walk down a path and over a dune to the beach. We had a great week!

Top Notch Property/Everything you need

This property was everything we needed. Quick beach access and not a far walk at all. There were plenty of local restaurants around with great food! We will definitely be back here over and over! The owners were super responsive and even checked in while we were there to make sure we did not need anything! Great Home…

Our 2024 Stay

We enjoyed easy access to the beach (there is a little dune to climb). There was a wonderful breeze off the ocean that allowed us to enjoy the screen porch for meals and reading. Shaded parking was wonderful! A few minute drive south offers a great spot to relax on the bay (sandbars, no waves & great sunsets). A little further south we found Tavern On 12 (great food, portions & prices). We had a great time.

we had a wonderful stay

On our way down, the owner contacted us to tell us that the previous guest had broken the stove. They asked if it was ok to come replace it and they compensated us with lunch for interrupting our visit, which was not necessary, but grateful for the awesome pizza! They are extremely friendly and it was a great location. The kids loved all of the different rooms and especially the loft and balconies. If ever in the Outer Banks again, we will definitely reach out to them.

Super cute, comfortable beach get away

We had a wonderful time in this house. Super cute house. Comfortable for our family vacation. The kitchen has absolutely everything you need and then some. The rooms were perfectly decorated and comfy. The beach is such a short walk across the yard and over the dunes. We found Avon to have everything you need but not all the crowds (which we love ). Went down to see the Hattreas lighthouse and Buxton bookstore. A must to check out ! Sunshine Seafood market was a great choice as well. We picked up steamed shrimp and enjoyed it on the great screened in porch at the house The owners were super easy to deal with and receptive to any of our questions Misty Mermaid was a nice get away for us and we look forward to seeing it again in the future

Avon getaway

Fantastic location. Short walk to dune for beach access which was directly across from the property and shared between two additional homes. This meant that even on a busy July 4th week we felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Avon is a small village with beautiful beaches and warm emerald tinged water. We could see the fish swimming in front of us, a stingray, and a pack of dolphins. We used Hatteras Seafood Boil company for a shrimp and crab feast which was a highlight of the trip. The house itself is lovely. Master bedroom in the loft only has a tub, but this was disclosed in the property description and there are three additional bathrooms with showers and an outside shower as well. Extremely clean house and courteous, profesional and responsive property owners. Highly recommended for adventure seeking families.

The house is very nice. The location is very convenient for just about anything you would need, like groceries beach supplies like tents,bikes etc. .The part that kind ruined my beach vacation was the beach access. We walk across the driveway onto loose smoking hot sand just to get to the top of the last sand dune just to realize we have to slide down to the beach. That still wasn't the worst of it yet, the only way back to the house was to crawl up the smoking hot sand. We would only go one time each day. I am way too old and out of shape to be able to do that.This has nothing to do with the house or the host. It just is what it is because of nature. But I would have liked to known this before I booked. The two kids age 10 and 13 didn't have as much trouble as the adults did.
