The Garden House, Whole Home in Downtown Manitou Springs

The Garden House is an entire private home in downtown Manitou Springs, Colorado, next to the Fountain Creek Inn. Three bedrooms sleep six: a king, a king plus twin, and a queen, with a full bathroom (double vanity and walk-in shower) and a half bath. The home is full of character, with a stacked-stone fireplace, wood-plank ceilings, and a butcher-block kitchen stocked with a refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster oven, and K-cup coffee. Out back, flower beds and a hand-painted garden mural surround a deck that seats six. Free WiFi and a smart TV with Chromecast and Roku. Keyless self check-in from 3:00 PM with a smart lock. Walk to downtown cafes and shops, or take the free Route 33 shuttle to the Manitou Incline, Barr Trail, and the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Garden of the Gods and Old Colorado City are a short drive. Parking is in the large shared lot. This is an older building in a lively town: quiet hours run 10 PM to 8 AM and earplugs are stocked.

The Guest House at Fountain Creek Inn was perfect for us! The cottage had plenty of room for us (2 senior couples). It was bright and sunny and so clean! Loved having the outdoor area and the accessibility to town. The house had everything we needed and more, and there were lots of thoughtful details. Houseplants always make a rental so homey! We would all highly recommend the Guest House!

Very, very clean and cute! We loved walking into town for dinner or to shop. I would hardly even call it walking into — you’re in the middle of things in under 5 minutes! If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in a Gilmore Girls-like charming small mountain town, this is the spot!

The property is nicely situated on the edge of beautiful Manitou Springs with easy access to other nearby sites. Although it's only two bedrooms, it accommodated 5 adults and two children.

Nice little house

Location was amazing, short walk into the shopping and dining area of Manitou Springs, and minutes away from so many attractions. So nice to have easy parking and easy access.

The house was lovely. Very clean and super comfortable. Beds were great! Very spacious. Quiet. Short walk to everything. With Manitou’s efficient bus system we didn’t have to drive much. I would stay here again.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Garden House. It is very centrally located to Woodland park and Colorado Springs. The house was very clean and comfortable.

Such a cute cottage! Perfect location. Excellent communication with the owner, we just loved it! Only thing I would request is a French press as I brought my own coffees and couldn’t use it. We will definitely be back!!

Had everything we needed

Nice cottage, had everything w needed to make our stay pleasant. Nice deck, it was a little noisy at times with motorcycles passing as the deck is right off the street. Close to town, very comfortable

Great location on the main road of downtown Manitou Springs! We were able to walk everywhere we needed--although the Pike's Peak train station is uphill and took about 30 minutes. Nice kitchen and full size fridge. We mostly ate out, but did use the oven for a frozen pizza one night. Nice bathrooms and plenty of room for our family of 5 to spread out. Plenty of parking.

The home was very well prepared and had everything we needed for our weekend. It was clean and thoughtfully arranged. It could use a little more privacy on window coverings. The one and only thing that caught us off guard was that this house is in the parking lot of a small hotel/inn. Within ten minutes of our arrival (at 10 p.m.), we had two guests from the inn knock on our door asking for assistance. After that first 10 minutes, however, it did not happen again because we unscrewed the lightbulb by the front door. Overall, a lovely experience with a very attentive host. Everything worked out and we really enjoyed our stay.

Adorable cottage - perfect for our family of 5

This house is very unassuming on the outside but beautifully decorated on the inside. Everything is new and clean and functioning. We made two meals during our stay and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The location is perfect to walk into the town. My only complaint (and nobody’s fault) is that two groups knocked on the door thinking it was the office to the Inn next door. There are signs everywhere saying that it is not the office, so that’s on them. Overall, I would highly recommend it and would stay here again.

Untold story

We really looked forward to our stay in Manitou and were excited about the prospect of walking to the downtown district from this cute cottage. What we didn’t know is this dwelling sits in a motel parking lot and is the former motel office. The sign for the motel stands just a few feet from the front door, which is conveniently excluded from the exterior photos. Guests checking in at 2a.m. were knocking on our door trying to get admitted to their room. Window coverings are extremely thin and cheap and offer little to no privacy and every car entering the parking lot in the evening lights up the entire cottage making it very difficult to sleep. The kitchen is poorly furnished which is contrary to the deacription and the “hardwood floors” are actually thin vinyl plank layed over a very uneven surface. On the bright side, the cottage is cute and the living room furniture is comfortable. However after driving across the country to stay, we were very disappointed and cut our time in Colorado short. We communicated with the host and I believe he may have been amenable to adjusting our rental fee due to the misleading descriptions provided but VRBO has so far stood in the way of any refund. Renters beware!
