Charming, quiet 3-BR cottage; private access to cove and forest trails

This 100-year-old structure has been completely renovated in 2023 and features new furniture, a modern kitchen, a gas log fireplace, high speed internet (541 megs/sec) and art. One guest called the cottage "truly magical." Steps away from a secluded cove in Casco Bay which renters can access via private ramp and float, this lovely cottage provides everything you need for a quintessentially Maine vacation. The cottage is private, and quiet.
The cottage is at the end of a dead-end gravel road, and is private and quiet.
Two other cottages on the same property are nearby if guests want to add one or three bedrooms, baths and kitchens.

THE SPACE
This cottage is adjacent to Sebasco Harbor Resort, which features golf, tennis, a restaurant, and other amenities. It is also adjacent to 21 acres of our private forest and a newly constructed private trail system (map provided) that connects to a much larger trail system (map provided) maintained by the nearby resort.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests share access (with one other 3-BR cottage 80 yds away ) to the float and small sandy beach that forms at low tide, as well as to the laundry and bicycles found in the shed. The newly built, signed trail system affords access to the property's 21 acres and to nearby lookouts.

Kayaks and paddleboards are available for rental from a local company that delivers and picks up. A private trail system on our 21 acres connects to a trail system maintained by the adjacent resort.

Guests' primary contact will be with a local property manager, but our summer home is literally down the road and we have a welcoming attitude to new visitors, while respecting guests' privacy.

Play golf or tennis or dine at the adjacent Sebasco Harbor Resort.

Weekly linens and cleaning, high-speed internet; smart TV on request; all new kitchens, baths, and beds..

Our cottages are located in the Sebasco area of Phippsburg (“coastal Maine at its prettiest”), about an hour’s drive from Portland.

Phippsburg was named as one of the ten best cities in America ”to go off the grid” in March 2022, ranking Phippsburg alongside Carmel, California; Aspen, Colorado; and Sedona, Arizona. The website Livability.com had this to say about Phippsburg:

“This is coastal Maine at its prettiest, with picturesque wooden boat houses standing atop thick timber stilts plummeting into the Atlantic. This is the kind of place [where] you . . . chow down on the best lobster you’ll ever put in your mouth. It’s . . . a great place to ‘go dark’ for a bit.” https://bit.ly/PhippsburgME

At the southern tip of the Phippsburg peninsula, you can immerse yourself in American history by walking through American-Revolution-era batteries at Fort Baldwin, Civil War-era Fort Popham, and the site of the 1607 Popham Colony, a failed British colony which preceded the Mayflower’s landing at Plymouth. Play tennis or a round of golf at nearby Sebasco Harbor Resort, or go on a beautiful hike to Seawall Beach at Morse Mountain. Experience quintessential Maine’s fresh lobster and oysters at one of the peninsula’s waterfront restaurants. Take a stroll through galleries, local shops, and the Maine Maritime Museum in the historic shipbuilding town of Bath, just 20 minutes away. Or, head back towards the bigger town of Brunswick for dinner and a concert (30 min), check out the outlet shops of Freeport (45 min), walk through historic Boothbay Harbor (55 min), or explore the bustling port and nightlife in Portland (1 hr).

Perfect stay for our family

We couldn’t be happier with our stay here. We are a family of 6, with 4 kids ages 16 through 10 and the cottage held us wonderfully well. It was the perfect size for our summer stay, very clean and well stocked. It had a peaceful, quiet feel and was a great place to hang out together on the days we didn’t feel like leaving the house. We used the walking trails outside the back door every morning and evening, amazing for getting the day started or for winding down. So much to do from this location, Morse Mountain trail to the beach is definitely worth it if 1.8 miles is in your range. We used the bikes provided every day as well as our own. Private Phippsburg residents beach just down the street and popham beach really close too which the kids loved. We went to Portland one day and up by Camden and Rockland another, the drives are part of the fun, stopping off along the way. The cottage is a half mile down a private driveway that passes through a golf course owned by the Sebasco resort hotel. We went down and were able to use the outdoor pool and the bowling alley despite not being guests. We also rented kayaks from a local company provided in the welcome handbook and kept them for 3 days at the private dock beside the cottage. Long story short this place was one of the best places we have stayed in maine and we come up here most years. The host Bob was a pleasure to liaise with, being around if needed anytime. Highly recommend for families like ours. We will be back!

Charming cottage with water access and hiking trails

Wonderful week at this charming, impeccably maintained cottage. The property manager and owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed hiking on the private trails and spending time at the float/in the cove. We found everything we needed and hope to return again sometime!

We raised our family in New York, but were married in Phippsburg in the local one-room church on the Kennebec River. Our family has been summering just down the road from the property for decades, and in 2022 we jumped at the chance to purchase the 21 acres and three cottages that comprise the property.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

Our forebears chose the neighborhood, but we sincerely love it. As noted in the description, Phippsburg is a great place to "go off the grid" - close to everything but not on the beaten track. Our local neighbors and tradesmen have helped us restore and refurbish the cottages to a standard that we like.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

The cottages are at the end of a dead-end gravel road and are quiet and private. Private access to a 21-acre forest, and to an adjoining trail system maintained by the nearby Sebasco Harbor Resort, is very unusual.
