Cozy, rustic home on Sullivan's Island near beach; great screen porch!

One of the few remaining, original Sullivan's Island beach homes with many original, charming features, throughout, located just two short blocks walk to the beach access path. This is a rustic, old charm beach home with original heart pine flooring and walls. The living area boasts an open floor plan with common living room and dining area. Dining room with large family table will seat 8 comfortably. Kitchen is spacious with portable dishwasher and eat in kitchen table (seats 4). Screened porch is spacious with outdoor seating and eating. There are 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom on the main floor and another 2 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom in the lower level. Entry to the downstairs bedrooms is outside through a stairway located in the screened porch. Charcoal grill, WiFi, original wood flooring throughout. Linens are included. No Smoking and No Pets. Please do not park on the cement pad on Ion Street this is a sidewalk. Parking is off Middle Street entrance.

Enjoyed our stay

The house was as described, definitely vintage but loved the vibe! The location was amazing and we had everything we needed. We loved Sullivan’s Island!

Girls Trip

The location was amazing. Easy walk to restaurants on Sullivan's Island and ocean. There were only 4 of us but the house could sleep many more. The beds were clean and comfortable! There is a lot of 'stuff' in the house but overall clean. There were no eating utensils (at least we couldn't find them). Other than that, kitchen is well stocked. It was a wonderful get away!

Real reviews are hidden

It wasn’t until we had booked the place that I realized people’s *actual reviews* were hidden under the generic ones. Luckily we didn’t use the downstairs rooms as many of the reviews mentioned, the smell of mold was bad & I am highly allergic to it. The cleaning people had managed to cover the musty smell upstairs with a sickly honeysuckle air freshener. Location is great. Needs improvements to make it worth the cost.

Old Sullivan’s Island charm and comfort

Loved the vintage feel and charm of this property. It is perfectly located near the center of the island with many restaurant choices. The home is well equipped and nicely decorated. My family all loved our accommodations and would recommend this property. My recommendations are that the exterior could use a good power washing and some space be cleared in the kitchen for pantry items in the kitchen.

Just splendid!!

Our family had the best of time at your place. The place was just steps away from the beach and easily accessible. It was kid friendly. We had a bunch of teenagers as well in our group who enjoyed the most as the house was just setup right for big groups. Plenty of seating areas. Wonderfully furnished. Bedrooms were spacious as well as adequately furnished. It was a wonderful stay overall. The maintenance staff were also really supportive and prompt. We did have couple of minor issues raised and they attended to us immediately. One of those was the unique Dishwasher which needed to be plugged in when needed. Other than that, the house is a second home for anyone travelling to Charleston.

Moldy smell/ water damage visible on ceilings

Two out of five rooms are in the basement of the house, next to the garage and have water issues. The ceilings are peeling due to water damage, the shower heads are rusty and the overall moldy smell in the basement and house are not bearable.

June family Get Away

I love this house. It is like stepping back in time to the house I lived in as a little girl. There were 10 of us and we had more than enough room. We could all go to our own spaces and have solitude if needed. The neighborhood is perfect. The yard is excellent. the screened in porch is a love of mine. We sat out there every night and talked for hours. The kitchen is huge and well put together. We made huge breakfasts and dinners and everyone ate together. The walk to the beach is very easy. Anything you might need ,you will find in this house. I love it. We will definitely stay again next year and this time for longer.

Nice location and home but....

Nice property, plenty of space, location is central to the area and easy to get where you need to go. However, I would recommend investigating some HVAC zoning for the upper and lower floors. Our stay was hot to say the least. From the time we arrived to the time we left this unit hovered at 76-78 degrees and would only drop to a moderately comfortable level of 74 at night but never lower than that.

Great place for family to gather!

My only complaint was that it was a bit musty smelling. Location was perfect! Amenities we're just right. Would love to go back when we had more time to enjoy. Would be great for a relaxing vacation. It was wonderful to spend time with family who had traveled from Montana, Michigan, West Virginia and South Carolina!

Funky beach cottage

The floor in the downstairs bathroom/bedroom is sinking. I called it in. We spent 4 days stepping carefully in those rooms. The screen porch was delightful. Lots of room to gather as a family. The house would be delightful if the owners invested in the property. A/C ductwork needs sealed. Crawlspace /foundation needs immediate attention

Cozy, Rustic beach days

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We returned to a house we stayed in quite a few times. Enough that everyone has their own room and knows the ropes of the house. We stayed here first because the price was low and it was big enough to host our big crew of a family. It’s an old house in need of lots of repairs and a good ole southern cleaning but the character keeps us coming back. The front porch is my favorite part of the home and I could sit here for days working puzzles and reading books. Unfortunately there was ALOT of rain and almost every yard on Sullivan’s island was flooded. Many streets and every walkway to the beach. You had to walk through knee to ankle high mud and muck that smelled like sewage to get to the beach which was really gross. But...because of that the beach was almost secluded which I’m sure is unheard of in Nuly at the beach. I had to use my 4x4 to get in the driveway. Overall it was another wonderful, relaxing beach week..and hopefully they will leave the price down and we will keep coming back. Island Realty is wonderful to work with and always quick to respond to any needs.

Hurricane Matthew Evacuation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I chose this house as a home base for my wedding in Summerville. I loved this house. I plan on staying here again. Unfortunately hurricane Matthew forced us to leave. I've been through hurricanes before and as soon as I knew we were being evacuated I went to get gas as fast as possible. The huge lines had begin and the fighting. I rushed back to the rental and packed my family up in about 15 minutes so we could leave charleston as fast as possible. I was running in and out of this house. I know I left the refrigerator full of food. Sorry!!! I was able to fill up my tank about 30 minutes outside of the city and drive straight home. I felt bad for leaving the house in disarray but I was so relieved to make it out safely. I received a full refund for our stay including the days we stayed at the property. I managed to move my wedding to Atlanta and it was glorious. Thank you so much island reality for being easy to work with and understanding.

Just Okay

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was dated (as one can surmise from the pictures), but roomy. Two fairly major concerns cropped up. The porch roof leaks. And I don't mean just a bit, thinks splashing water and ruined electronics if left out.Apparently the owners said they would fix the leak, but we never saw anyone one the roof the entire next week when we stayed on the island in a different house. I suspect that won't get fixed, so be prepared to be inside if you have a rainy beach week. Also, the two downstairs bedrooms share a bath, as noted. But what is not disclosed is that you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the other or get to the main part of the house. Not a problem for us as we didn't use all of the rooms, but if I was a young married couple I wouldn't like it very much if the other couple in the room behind mine had to disrupt our privacy every time they wanted to go upstairs. Just think that ought to be disclosed. Otherwise, no complaints.

Home not suitable for kids

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This property should not be rented in its current condition. It's two different apartments that are connected by a porch (screen door doesn't shut properly) so you get bitten by mosquitoes when going from downstairs to upstairs. Railings are rusty. Dishwasher is a separate thing that the renter has to hook up with a hose to the sink. The house smells of mothballs and has mold in bathrooms. All doors must be locked with keys so no way to get out unless you have a key (deadbolts) also when the management was notified no one called back. We drove to the rental office and then were allowed to move after showing pictures of the problems but still made to pay for our time (2 days since it was a weekend and they did not let us move first time we called and did not call back). The manager was rude and not helpful. Usually Island Reality is great but this manager is defiantly not doing her job and we won't use Island Reality again. I stay at the beach every year and know the difference between an old Island house and an unsafe rental.
