Welcome to Casita de Indigo…

Your stand-alone casita is centrally located to all the offerings of the area--you, your kids and your pups will make some lifelong memories here in Northern New Mexico! To the south is the renowned Rio Grande river where you can have a mellow float, or brave a ride down class III/IV rapids. To the north is Taos Ski Valley, home of world class terrain. In between are epic hikes, numerous galleries and unique shops, delicious food, and culture--Taos truly is a little slice of heaven. Welcome!

The Casita is a "Taos-house" by definition. Originally a single-room dwelling built in the early 1900's--with thick walls, low ceilings and massive vigas--the original owners completed a series of remodels to expand and ad the infrastructure needed to turn it into the modernized small home that it is today. We hope that you will find this combination of bygone and contemporary as charming as we in Taos do.

We have labored to create a welcome and safe space that provides multiple varied housing opportunities on our property. Children from the three families living here will be seen playing outdoors along with their cats. One of the parents is also our artist in residence, and has studio space in the third garage adjacent to the covered parking--you may see her coming and going next to your vehicle. Residents of an upstairs apartment will be seen traversing the spiral staircase across from the entrance to the Casita. Our family lives in the first house with the green roof. The other two families reside in their recreational vehicles in the downhill barn space.

If complete isolation and seclusion is a requisite of your vacation, ours may not be the space for you. Your pets are welcome, and we thank you for keeping them leashed when you walk them outside. You are welcome to enjoy the river overlook, and we ask that you please respect the privacy of the other residents on the property as you pass by to access the river.

Help us save on the energy consumption and kindly turn off all lights, ensure stove controls are off, and set the thermostat to 60.
Please leave the bed unmade and any wet towels hanging to dry.
If you've used the pull-out couch or anything else from the closet, kindly leave the used linens on the floor in a corner so we know what all needs to be cleaned.

Taos is Taos. Exteriors can be a bit rugged but the host and interior were well taken care of and very creative. I would add it was also very quiet.

This beautiful casita was so comfortable and welcoming. The house was extremely clean and filled with all the amenities you could ever want. Plenty of towels and washcloths as well as dish towels with a full set of dishes, silverware, glassware, coffee cups and pots and pans.The kitchen was so cute with a stove and oven, nice sink, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom was super clean and very functional. The living room was really nice and comfy complete with a table for two, comfy couch and tv with a vcr & dvd player tons of movies and Roku. The bedroom is very spacious with a big comfy bed and nightstands with drawers and a good size closet with blankets and tons of towels. This casita is also pet friendly a real plus! I felt very safe and comfortable and I would definitely book here again the next time I come to Taos. Also a very convenient location close to all the sights and eateries. 1000 out of 10!! Wonderful place to stay!!

This property is quite rustic but extremely comfortable. There are so many special touches in the house to make guests feel welcome. At night, the property is super quiet. A lovely stay.

Great Expierence!

This is a very sweet peaceful casita. The bed is very comfortable and the casita warm and cozy. It had everything I needed and some things I didn't expect. The host is very responsive and easy to work with. I'll stay here again for sure. Can't wait to get back.

Great for 2 people and 1 dog. Okay for short stays but has small refrigerator that doesn't hold much food. Very easy access to Taos. Also the bedroom has a big comfortable bed. A little tight getting from the kitchen area to the bathroom.

Nice property, but the two of us live in a 3600 sq ft house, so the Casita felt cramped (not the property owner's issue as it was accurately described in the listing). If you want a location close to Taos, but not right down town this is a good place to stay. Nothing fancy, just the basics. Communication by the property manager was excelent.

Convenient & Quirky

It was nice. Quirky. We liked all the labels & notes everywhere. We went to a concert in Kit Carson park & the property was very convenient.Overall it was comfortable . Only cons & warnings: The shower is very small & might be difficult for larger people. Someone had burned piñon incense and it was very strong our whole stay. It could be an asthma trigger.

quaint but not private

pictures don't depict what is really on outside of property- with several people living in RVs and RV water lines and electric cords everywhere, no upkeep on outside. People hanging out in garage right next to where you park, a few kids running around and playing right outside your kitchen door- no water in the yard as shown on line, several random cats walked by- so yes you can bring your dogs- but right off busy road so no place to walk them- if they are not good with cats or kids I would not stay here. Inside was exactly as expected- clean, slept well. NO cable so watched Olympics at night on computer. Wouldn't stay again due to wanting more privacy when on vacation.

Ranchos de Taos is a centuries-old farmer settlement on the southern edge of Taos proper. Bubbling acequias, winding rivers, fruit trees and green pastures abound. It's a truly peaceful place, yet the location sacrifices nothing when it comes to proximity to the offerings of the area.

We are situated close to town, perched on the edge of the Rio Ranchitos River. Hawks nest in the trees, raccoons fish the river and beavers and muskrat build their home among the jumping fish. We've created a truly special dwelling space here, and we look forward to hosting you!
