Just a few minutes from Mendocino and Fort Bragg, Windrift Cottage is a perfect headquarters for your Mendocino Coast vacation. However, with all the home has to offer, you may be tempted never to leave the property.
A private but rugged path right off the backyard drops down to a secluded beach where you can spend the day in the sun and surf or elect to cozy up next to the fireplace and take in dinner and a movie before retiring to the hot tub with a panoramic view of the Pacific.
Enjoy the simplistic peace of Windrift's intimate, studio-style layout, with a leather sofa next to a gas fireplace, a wide-screen television with cable and DVD collection, a pillow-topped queen bed, and a small kitchen (mini fridge, two-burner stove, but no oven) with a high lounge-type table.
Please note: There is parking for one car only. - No children are allowed at this location, and although Windrift is pet-friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only, with a maximum number of no more than 1

Great place, great views! We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. It was a good location between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Loved the hot tub to relax in after long days. Would definitely stay again.

This was our second time here. The Studio was well appointed and very clean. There are new stairs down to the beach which are very nice for us 80 year olds! our only problem with our five day stay was the hot tub cover is so heavy I had difficulty removing it. We ended up using only half the tub. I think the tub placement needs to be cahnged and placed where one can actually have footing to remove the cover. I’ve never lifted a cover so heavy and cumbersome as this one.

This place was perfect! Highly recommend for a solo or couple getaway. Cottage was very comfortable. Amazing view from the back porch. Hot tub was a nice plus. Lots of sightseeing and outdoor activities in the vicinity. Cute downtown shopping districts in Mendocino and Ft. Bragg. Would definitely stay here again!

This was our third stay at Windrift, and it was lovely as always! Such a quiet and peaceful place with an unrivaled view of the ocean. Thank you for replacing the stairs on your property to the safe concrete ones. Just wish the state beach would redo the wooden stairs on the other side of the gate as we had to slip and slide down to the beach. But still so incredible to have access to such a stunning beach! Cottage was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Previous guests left food on dishes for the second time, so we had to clean them again as we did back in June of 2025. Not host's fault, but probably should have cleaning staff double check the dishes before guests arrive. Also need more washcloths and hand towels. We only had two of each for two people who stayed four nights and five days. But everything was as described. The walk to the cottage is just a joy! Thank you for all of the fun garden art and for all you have done to make this such a special place. We will be back next year. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Two minor things: the toaster oven didn't heat properly and could have used a more detailed instruction on operating the streaming/dvd set-up. Otherwise we would happily stay there again.

We loved our stay here. The cottage was clean and had plenty of places to sit and relax. The view was endlessly enjoyable. Sitting in the hot tub watching the clouds was a real treat. We can't wait for our next opportunity to be there.

The cottage actually looked better than the pictures! The cottage was very comfortable, but the view was amazing! Relaxing in the hot tub while gazing at the ocean was paradise!

Windrift Cottage In Ft Bragg is a fabulous place. We keep going back, year after a year. We highly recommend it. It’s the best.

Fabulous Place!
We had a wonderful, relaxing few days. Windrift was so much nicer than the advertisement. It was a little hard to find but once we found it directions totally made sense. We loved the temperature of the Jacuzzi perfect for warmer summer evenings. Thank you so much for the wonderful stay.

Anniversary surprise
Peaceful neighborhood, ideal location, excellent ocean view, and Mendocino Preferred Rentals was exceptional to work with. An overall pleasant experience.

Perfect venue for solo weekend
The cottage is quiet and private. Has everything needed for a solo escape. Particularly enjoyed access to the beach and watching the waves while reading in bed.

Beautiful setting
It is a gorgeous setting.
The house is dated and the amenities are sub standard (tiny soap, old worn sheets, etc), but the view makes up for it.
We had a wonderful time in Mendocino.

Relaxing Getaway
Had a wonderful time at the Windrift Cottage!
Perfect little place to get away and relax. The sunsets from the deck and private beach were amazing! The hot tub overlooking the ocean was the best!
The town of Mendocino right down the road, was so cute! Loved all the little shops, boutiques, and restaurants.
