This traditional oceanfront cottage is located in Atlantic Beach and offers lots of space. Ground level apartment offers 1 bedroom, 1 full bath, separate living area and kitchen. The main living area, kitchen, half bath, 1 bedroom and 2 shower rooms are lovated on the 2nd level. Principal bedroom, 1 full bath, 1 half bath and 2 bedrooms are located on the top floor.

All rates are subject to a departure cleaning, linen and reservation fee, 12.75% sales tax and a $79.00 Vacation Rental Damage Protection Plan. All fees and taxes are subject to change without notice.

We rent to family groups, married couples, or mature adults over the age of 25. We do not, under any circumstances, rent to groups for proms, graduations, college house parties, etc. Misrepresentation will result in immediate eviction without refund.

All prices and/or descriptions are subject to change. Although every precaution is taken, errors in prices and/or descriptions do occur on our web site and in printing. We reserve the right to correct any such error.

1. Damage Protection Insurance – For an additional $79.00, this plan covers up to $3,000 in unintentional damages to the rental unit that may occur during your stay. Report the damage to us, we’ll take care of the rest!
2. Security Deposit - $1,500 is immediately charged at time of booking. If the property is left undamaged, keys & parking passes returned, your security deposit will be refunded within 45 days after check out.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lots of shortcomings - tv didn't work and never did get fixed so my family couldn't watch football that we planned on. Bed exteremly squeaky in Master-not sure about the rest. I'll stop because too much to go over

Not recommended (especially during winter season)

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Pros:Great beachfront location on a quite beachClean roomsPlenty of rooms/space for a party of 12Reasonable rental ratesLots of reminders and clear instructionsPet friendlyCons:Thermostat on the main floor was broken (would not even turn it on) and the floor was quite cold during the entire stayThermostat on the top floor did not work properly either and we could not increase the temperature on that floor. All the rooms on both floors were quite cold during the night. The only floor with the thermostat and heater working properly was the basement.We tried to reach the company that manages the property by phone and also using the app, but no response during the entire stayNot enough blankets were provided though it was quite cold (because the broken heating)The house is very old and quite dated, several bathrooms doors do not close completely. Even when some doors could be closed, most of the bathroom door-locks did not work properly, we had to use chairs to block these doors when using some of the bathroomsWater was dripping from the main-floor living room ceiling (on one of the days, not sure of the source, possibly from one of the upstairs showers)Not all bedrooms have full bathrooms attached, you need to use separate shower rooms near the entrance

One week Island Birds rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Islandbirds ocean front location in Atlantic Beach is ideal, and our stay was very enjoyable. However,since this year's weather during the 2nd week of October was mostly cool and windy, it was difficult, at best, to attempt to adjust the HVAC "warm weather" temperature settings. Other than that, the Islandbirds was a perfect home for the 4 of us plus our Golden Retriever.

Beach trip

Trip was great, the house is beautiful. The second to last day had remnants of a hurricane come through and some of the basement/first floor was flooded, unfortunately. The top two floors were fine but the part of our group that was in the basement decided to leave early and later in the day, we did too. I'd totally stay at the property again, but only use the top two floors. My main complaint is we're 20 days after we checked out of the property, we are still waiting on the return of the security deposit. So if you are strapped for cash and hope to get a large chunk of change back after being back home, you're going to be waiting a bit. They do mention it could take up to 45 days to get the deposit back, and in my experience, that is an extraordinary long time. (This is an indictment on the property management folks, not the homeowner)

Great Oceanfront Cottage - Islanbirds

Great old house. AC was a little shaky but they came and worked on it until it was good. We had a great time! Beautiful paneled house with so much character!

A True Gem

We loved everything about our stay at this cottage and couldn’t have asked for more. It’s obviously one of the first built homes on the island and exudes so much character and a warm feel. For it’s age it’s been immaculately maintained and nicer than a lot of the newer places I’ve stayed. It was perfect for my teenage daughter and her friends. They loved having the spacious downstairs living area to sleep and hangout. We’ll definitely be back and stay here on our next trip down.

Family Vacation on Labor Day Weekend

Great property and good for a large family. Nice location but could use more parking for size of house. Could be cleaned better but has the old school beach cottage feel.

Group rental

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Over all we enjoyed our stay. The house was Great for our large group. The rental was clean and had all pots and pans that we needed for our meals. The house is slightly dated needs quite a bit of updating. And it would have been useful to have four full baths and all the bathrooms. House only has two full baths and 2 half baths and two shower rooms. This did accommodate all of us we had 13 staying in the house. Just be aware that the apartment downstairs you have to walk through the bedroom from the sleeping room to get to the bathroom. In saying all this I would rent it again. It was a great location and fun was had by all.

Islandbirds-Great Place

The public access is right beside the house and comes in really handy when carrying all the kids “stuff” in the wagon. Both kitchens were fully equipped with all cooking needs. Overall great place, we’ve already booked for next year. The Cannon and Gruber staff were amazing to work with, they answered all questions and resolved concerns we had.

Very roomy comfortable older home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall we enjoyed staying at Islandbirds. The location is great and the house has lots of room and a big kitchen. However there needs to be some updates done to the bathrooms. The apartment bath\shower fixtures and the upstairs bath\shower fixtures did not work well at all. In fact we could not use the apartment shower at all. However, the shower rooms on the main floor were really great. Many of the doors in the house and the gates on the deck need to be fixed\updated.

Good beach location

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was very clean, but it is really old. Doors don’t close, there us only 1 shower for all the bedrooms. There are 2 showers by the front door for rinsing sand, etc & is usable for older kids/adults. Dining room/family room is super nice with great views of the ocean. Very spacious for multiple families, as there are 3 floors of bedrooms. Overall, a nice house, just prepare for it to be very old & unkept. Also, bring your own coffee/filters/detergent, as this was not stocked. Not a big deal, but i wish i knew.

Lots of potential

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A good location for beach lovers. Not much parking space for so many guests. The large rooms on the ocean side are great for gatherings, playing cards, eating, etc. Plenty of bedrooms, but not enough showere (the bedroom we slept in didn't have a shower). Lots and lots of stairs. I wouldn't recommend for eldery people or those with walking difficulties. Just too many stairs for those to navigate easily. Very few electrical outlets in the bedrooms, usually just one per bedroom so pluging in your cell phone charger, computer or games my not be possible in the bedroom. Overall I would rate this property as just adequate. Not fancy or well lighted, but a good place to sleep, cook (lots of dishes, pots and pans) and easy access to the beach. The knotty pine paneling is dated, but pretty. It's also very dark and requires more lighting than is in the building.

Great House

From the cypress wood to the many rooms, to the great open spaces, Island Birds will sleep a large family.Ideally situated by the public access to the beach, it gave our Pug the opportunity to welcome beach goers from the wide and spacious porch where we could sit back and enjoy the ocean breeze and watch the sunset.
