Nestled in one of Seattle's famous greenbelts, our beautifully remodeled and well appointed, private unit is located minutes from downtown Seattle, the waterfront and the University of Washington. Only 2 blocks to catch the local public transport. Light rail within 1 mile.
This is a bright daylight private lower unit with owners living above. There is a large patio for your enjoyment. We have easy, fast access to the freeway both North and South.
Our Unit is a large fully furnished 2 bedroom, each w/Queen Beds; 1 bathroom with Walk-in shower and a fully stocked kitchen, living and dining rooms.
Maximum 3 people.
We live in a quiet neighborhood and ask that you respect our home and neighbors. No parties, loud music or noise please.
We have a Heritage Tree in our back yard. A London Plane, over 100 feet tall with a 50 foot canopy. A beautiful giant.
No pets are permitted in order to provide a healthy space for future guests who may be sensitive.
Seattle is an Eco-Friendly city and has comprehensive sorting rules for recycling, food waste and garbage. There is a guide on the refrigerator for your convenience. We provide three separate containers for the different types of waste.
We have designed and furnished the unit with adults in mind. It is not safe or appropriate for babies or small children. Please let us know in advance if you have a pre-teen or teen you will be bringing along. Anyone under the age of 21 needs to be pre-approved for a stay. Also, free WiFi.
Again, owners live above, there are normal household noises (so if you desire complete silence you may want to look elsewhere.)

Like a Second Home

We stay in Seattle frequently when visiting family. John and Rachel’s flat is our first-choice accommodation. The property is clean, well equipped, spacious, comfortable, and well located. John and Rachel are warm, responsive, communicative, and accommodating.

Awesome gem!

My 87 year old mother and I (almost 60) stayed for 4 nights to visit my daughter and son-in-law. Great renovated basement space. ALL the amenities with great beds/linens, full kitchen, awesome water pressure for the shower (no tub which made shower access much better for my mom), and a cozy family room area. The owners are upstairs but you would hardly know. Private access. The only thing is the outside stairs which have a great motion light and hand rail. We would definitely stay here the next time we visit Seattle.

Delightful spot

I was attending a backyard wedding in Seattle and stayed at this property with my adult son. It was perfect. The location was exactly where we needed to stay to be close to local family. Everything was clean, the owners lived upstairs and were willing to help with anything. The unit is well-equipped, although we didn’t do any cooking. The checkout process was simple. I would definitely stay again if I’m in the area.

Lovely Place to Stay!

Stayed here while moved my daughter into UW. It was a short drive to campus and to surrounding shopping. It was lovely and a relaxing spot during a hectic time. The hosts were really nice as well. Would stay here again!

Wonderful getaway in the woods

A wonderful stay while visiting family. We very much enjoyed all the amenities and was impressed at the level of cleanliness. everything was spotless, well maintained and of high quality. John and Rachel could not have been more welcoming. We would rate this property 6 stars if we could. We will definitely stay here again for future trips to Seattle. Short term job

This was a very comfortable home away from home. It was well furnished and had everything i needed. The location is a quiet neighborhood, really convenient to downtown and north Seattle.

Still Giving

As always (we're here two or three times per year) John and Rachel have provided a homy, welcoming, thoughtful place to dwell in while enjoying Seattle's wonders. They continue to upgrade, and work hard to anticipate one's needs. If there is any kind of minor problem they are quick to respond, and do their best to remedy the situation. We will keep returning as long as we have family in the area, and we can only hope this place remains available!

Perfect place to relax

I really enjoyed my stay! The rooms are spacious, comfortable, clean and had everything I needed. The neighborhood is very walkable with lots of bird song and mature gardens.

Our Stay at John and Rachel's North Seattle Suite

Preparing for our trip to Seattle to our son's wedding, we found John and Rachel's VRBO rental as the one that checked all our needs for the wedding weekend- central location to our venues, ease of access from the I-5 Freeway, quiet and peaceful, comfortable, clean and spacious, and affordable. The suite was spotless and roomy, cool in the heat of summer, everything felt and looked new. Felt more like being on the main floor than a basement. Beds were comfortable, slept well thanks to the quiet location of the property. The kitchen was very well-equipped, we lacked nothing during our stay. Our hosts communicated very well with us, made us feel very welcome, and we came away feeling we had been cared about in the course of our stay. Thank you, John and Rachel.

Comfortable surroundings

The tidiness and cleanliness of the property was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent relaxing in the space. One suggestion, we were very aware (especially in the middle of the night) of the folks upstairs. Perhaps, slippers would help diminish the sound. All in all, it was so worth the price.

Wonderful Experience

Property was immaculate. Everything was modern and updated. The kitchen was extremely well equipped if you like to cook. The outside space was beautiful and comfortable. Located in a residential suburban-like neighborhood even though within the city limits. Car is really needed, but not far to downtown and close to UW. Most important, the hosts were kind and accommodating.

Very comfortable and welcoming

We stayed here 4 nights, very comfortable and well appointed basement apartment with private entry. John and Rachel were very nice and easy to communicate with. We appreciated all of the little touches like local restaurant and activity recommendations, a fully stocked kitchen, and a very nice welcoming gift of wine and local chocolates. We will definitely put this place at the top of our list for stays in Seattle!

In the Comfort Zone Again

We try to stay here at least twice a year, as it's perfectly located for our family visits. Beyond that, however, we have found John and Rachel to be the most gracious and helpful hosts one could imagine, from their traditional bag of chocolates and bottle of white wine gifts, to their prompt eagerness to help with a TV glitch. They've made improvements to the unit over time, always seeking to improve the experience for their guests, and we've never had any difficulties while staying in their downstairs unit. It is reasonably priced, situated in a quiet neighborhood with good walking streets and trails, and is only a short drive to grocery store, restaurants, etc. They've been doing this for some years, and they've doing it right!

Incredible Find

My husband and I found the perfect location for our stay in Seattle. Rachel and John are excellent hosts who are very gracious and accommodating and welcome you into the most inviting environment anyone could ask for, which included a nice surprise of treats in a welcome basket. The kitchen provides extensive utensils, pots and pans plus a lot more you could want or need to prepare and cook a meal and sit at the table or enjoy breakfast at the counter with coffee or tea which are provided. It’s apparent that a lot of care and attention has been given to making your stay very homey with being exceptionally clean as well as having comfortable furnishings and lovely decor. The bedroom we used was very comfortable and the sheets and blankets are luxurious. The beautiful bathroom has all the necessities you need including a fabulous shower with unbelievably sumptuous towels. Another thoughtful provision they provide is a special parking area which is devoted to their guests exclusively. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

We have lived in beautiful Victory Heights (aka Maple Leaf) for 30+ years. We raised our daughter here, and love sharing our neighborhood with our granddaughters when they visit.

Free WiFi. We are located in a green belt just above Thornton Creek. From the back of our home, which is the entrance to the apartment, you would never know you are in the middle of a busy city. If you are a birder, this is the place for you. From woodpeckers and owls to hummingbirds and finches, we have birds, birds, birds!
