We’re Scott and Ruth—creators, explorers, and lovers of the simple joys found in nature. Life on Harstine Island is our dream come true, and we’re excited to share a slice of it with you.

Scott is a true Pacific Northwest native and a proud UW grad. After a long career at Boeing (with a few adventures as a firefighter, scuba diver, and arguably the best barista you’ll ever meet), he’s now happiest blazing new trails through the forest or cheering on his beloved Seahawks.

Ruth was born in Hawaii and has lived on both coasts, but it’s here in the mossy woods of Harstine Island that she feels most inspired. A recent graduate in graphic design, she finds creativity everywhere—in the trees, the garden, and the peaceful rhythm of island life.

Together, we’ve poured our hearts into creating a homestead that celebrates nature, simplicity, and beauty. Hosting guests in our cozy forest cabin is one of our favorite parts of island life. Whether you're here to unwind, explore, or just listen to the rain on the cedars, we hope you’ll feel welcomed and restored.

We were drawn to Harstine Island for its quiet beauty, towering trees, and the sense of peace that’s hard to find anywhere else. The forest feels alive here—full of birdsong, winding trails, and the salty breeze from nearby Puget Sound. It’s a place where time slows down, and nature takes the lead.

This part of the South Sound offers the perfect mix of seclusion and connection. We love being surrounded by wildlife, with eagles overhead and deer passing through, yet still close enough to explore charming towns, state parks, and the breathtaking beauty of the Olympic Peninsula.

Harstine Island has a truly special spirit, and we knew right away it was where we wanted to build a home, create, and welcome others to experience its magic.

After a day of hiking nearby state parks, boating, or visiting farmers markets, relax in one of our outdoor hammocks or by the firepit, sharing stories over a campfire or a BBQ dinner.

Inside, you’ll find a clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully organized cabin filled with unique artwork and handcrafted woodwork that adds warmth and charm to your stay. Stay connected with WiFi, Dish TV, and Netflix, or unplug entirely—either way, the quiet serenity of the island welcomes you.

Families love our kid-friendly touches, including games, a treehouse, and whimsical gnomes and fairies tucked throughout the property. Plus, we’re pet-friendly, so your furry friends can share in the adventure.
