Cute traditional cottage

Well equipped cottage , clean , lovely and warm with everything you need. The instructions of arrival need updating as no barrier it’s a gate. Bed has a broken leg in middle ( not us) And the door when leaving in afternoon don’t use dead lock, as when you come back , need to lift door with letterbox to turn key x Perfect stay x

Lily cottage was vey clean and well equipped it was ok for our 3 day stay it did feel a little damp when putting your clothes on in the morning and definitely there was a smell of dampness in the air Dartmouth is a lovely place to visit .

Short break at lily Cottage in Dartmouth

Stunning cottage , decor was lovely and very clean too Lily cottage had a garden, opposite , gated off a footpath, we thought handy for our dog What a shame lovely garden area, but like a jungle, Rattan furniture ready for the skip Too.

Comfy, cozy cottage in great location

We had a wonderful few days staying in Lily Cottage, which was in great location for exploring the delights in and around Dartmouth. The interior of Lily Cottage was tastefully decorated with a nautical theme with some fascinating objet d'art. The beds were extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped with a beautiful dining area for romantic meals in. As with all old cottages in Dartmouth, the stairs up to the bedrooms were very steep and may be difficult for guests with mobility issues.

Fabulous Holiday in Devon

My husband and I booked a week away in Devon with our 9-month old Cavapoo. Having never taken the dog away before we were both a little anxious but we needn't have worried. Lily Cottage is perfectly located, with just short walk down to Dartmouth centre where there are so many restaurants and cafes to choose from (all of which allow dogs). It was a beautiful, cosy space to stay and I would highly recommend to others. The addition of the parking permit was hugely appreciated and meant we didn’t have to worry about where to park the car after returning from days out.

Lily Cottage, Dartmouth in winter

Sadly , we found Lily Cottage quite dark and gloomy and very chilly , although the shower room was always warm . We felt the worst thing was the fact that it was so dark , particularly the kitchen . It wasn't the cosy place that was nice to go back to after a day outside . We wouldn't go there again and wouldn't recommend it to friends. Of course , it may seem quite different on a warm summers day but even then , the area wasn't particularly nice and there were no views at all . Everything was very clean though and the milk , coffee, tea and biscuits was a nice touch .

Disappointed with with our stay. Left early

A quaint cottage with good location and interesting Naval decoration Many problem areas of concern 1. We expected steep stairways but the use of a rope banister was unsafe and did not reach upper landing which presented balance problem. This cottage is not suitable for the elderly and or those with mobility issues.Also there was a risk that stepping outside second bedroom (landing very short) was that people would step on to top stair instead of landing. The stair treads are very short and loose carpet causes concern. The bedroom landing slopes towards the stairs and causes balance problem. Two steps on stairs seemed broken and moved when stepped on 2. Lighting throughout the cottage was very poor and especially in kitchen. Owner requires to install ceiling lighting and not rely on poor portable lighting. (although attractive marine decor) Lighting in bathroom is poor and when turned on the extraction ventilator is very noisy 3. Sofas and chairs were uncomfortable and worn and sofa seemed to have broken springs. 4. The garden is great for a doggy holiday but the garden was overgrown and requires thorough trim. Far end of garden to right seems to allow access to next door garden as it does not seem secure at fence. We had to keep dog on lead.

Great location

Lily Cottage is a cute fisherman's cottage so size and quaintness as expected. However I must agree with previous reviewers that the kitchen is very dark and it made preparing a meal in February pretty tricky. Also underfloor heating in the dining room does not work (and from reviews it would seem that has been the case since October and so that is very disappointing to take guests through winter knowing there is no heating in that big room) In addition no door between thde dining/kitchen space and living room and so in cold February it made heating the living area very difficult. No electric heater in the dining room (as per the welcome book) and the log burner had not even a tiny amount of wood to be able to light that. Underfloor heating in the living room was not great, nor in the bathroom. Bedrooms had one electric heater in the main bedroom, but nothing in the second bedroom and so it was very cold in that room too. Would I stay again - yes probably - the location was good, within walking distance of town and likely in summer the poor lighting in the kitchen and heating is not such an issue.

Good location. Just don’t have a problem.

Arrived to find only two towel sets and bedding for three adults. Contact was through call Centre to pass messages on. Was told we should have advised them that we would not be sharing a double bed. No mention of this in booking details. We were emailed to say spare bedding and towel would not arrive until following day. This never happened. Turned up two days late. TV needed proper instructions and new batteries on remotes to operate. Smoke sensor batteries run down and beeping all night long. I think more attention to these details is must.

Not up to the standards expected given the weekly rate

There were a number of problems with this cottage particularly the bathroom. The toilet had a drainage smell, probably due to a poor connection of the WC to the drainage system. No toilet brush to keep the toilet clean. Mould was evident on wall tiles in the toilet area and the extractor fan was very noisy and ineffective. The shower cubicle had clearly been previously damaged, with the sliding doors subsequently removed and replaced by a shower curtain. There was also mould in the main bedroom corner cupboard/wardrobe and on the same wall on the ground floor lounge. Furthermore, the dining room underfloor heating did not work. The cottage was generally clean, however, we were welcomed by a slow worm on the kitchen floor and on the day we left a slug also on the kitchen floor. Given the problems encountered we felt the property was overpriced.

Quaint cottage

Nice, little quaint cottage tucked away. Customer service Outstanding. We wanted a log burner so that’s why we chose this cottage, but when we arrived the burner is actually in the dining room so this spoilt it for us as we wanted it in the lounge, but we still enjoyed our stay at the cottage.

Week in July

Good location but car park was busy so if you went out you couldn’t always get a space on return which was frustrating. Lovely garden and comfortable cottage with good facilities but cleanliness was average with high level cobwebs and grime. Towel rail had had fuse removed and shower itself did not drain well otherwise everything was ok

Lovely little cottage

We had a lovely week at Lilly cottage. It is comfortable and only a few minutes walk into the town so the location is ideal. Just a few negatives that could easily be rectified. The fridge/freezer is so small that you have to do a daily shop (even when there are just the 2 of you) and we were unable to chill any drinks because of this. We were told there would be a welcome pack on arrival but unfortunately nothing was left for us. After driving for 7.5 hours a pint of milk in the fridge would have been a welcome find for sure. The garden requires some maintenance including replacing some rotten decking boards and the rattan garden table is also rotten/breaking up.

Disappointed

Fantastic location and in a very quiet little street. Parking permit for park and ride and mayors car park a god send. Unfortunately the property wasn’t clean, dusty floors, wrappers left from previous guests, dust everywhere. The bedding and towels felt damp. The fridge is very small for a week can hardly fit anything in and no washing machine to wash beach towels etc. Please be mindful when booking the landing is very small between bedrooms and a very steep drop outside of second bedroom if you loose your footing.

Nice cottage with a few issues.

The cottage itself is in a lovely location. The parking however was a nightmare. All car parks were so busy and it was almost impossible to find a parking space. The cottage is pet friendly which is great but as a consequence there were dog hairs throughout the ground floor when we arrived. The other issue was the garden. It was poorly maintained with the decking showing it’s age and the rest of the garden was overgrown with weeds. It’s a shame because this cottage could be really nice but it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly and maintained better.

Lily Cottage

Lily Cottage is really charming with quirky nautical decoration. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the garden area was great. The big dining space was excellent, as were the sash windows and shutters to see the views from the windows. The woodburner looked appealing, although we never used it as we visited in May. Would benefit from installation of a power shower and bigger fridge/freezer space suitable for storing more food/drink. There was a bbq on the description of the property facilities, but we didn't see it, so bought disposable ones. Loved our stay in Dartmouth, it's a great location, and Lily Cottage, although maybe not everyone's cup of tea, is right up the street of those who want to stop in a place of charm and character.

Relaxing stay

Cosy cottage with some nice touches and interesting features. Good base for exploring. Short level walk to centre of Dartmouth, parking permit was a bonus. Under floor heating in lounge, WiFi and Alexa. Owners have spent time in collecting some interesting pieces on a nautical theme. Ideal size for a couple, access to outside space. Has potential with some minor works and TLC needed to bring it back to a good standard. Shower was poor.

A lovely Cottage

A lovely cottage in a good location, cosy, with lots of space. A nice touch would be to supply wood for the log burner, and maybe some dishwasher tablets. Otherwise a great place to stay and relax and use as a base to travel around the beautiful area of Devon.

good and bad

The cottage is nicely decorated and an easy walk to town. However it is in need of some TLC, the garden was in a poor state, there were weeds around the front and brambles coming over the dining room roof which scratched in the wind. We did have an issue that was resolved by the management company, which was solely due to bad housekeeping. Finding a parking space was OK but probably difficult during the summer. Wouldn't use this cottage again.
