Good to Know Before You Book This is a genuine country cottage next to a working dairy farm, so please expect occasional farm traffic on the lane, the usual countryside smells and sounds, and the odd insect indoors despite thorough cleaning. There are wooden floors throughout and steps to the front door, between the cottage and garden, and from the bathroom to the landing, so it is not suitable for guests with impaired mobility. Please dry your feet after bathing, as wooden floors and steps can be slippery when wet. The garden is large and as secure as we can make it, but determined dogs may find gaps in the hedges, so supervise any dogs prone to running off. The hot tub and sauna are used entirely at your own risk; children must be supervised at all times and children under 8 must not use the sauna. The annex stays locked unless arranged in advance, has no central heating and is not recommended in winter. Self check-in is via a key safe by the front door, with full instructions sent before arrival.
Extra charges A few optional extras are available subject to availability: dogs are welcome at £25 per pet per stay, up to a maximum of 3; hot tub use is £100 per stay to cover servicing, treatment and energy costs; early check-in is £20 per hour and late check-out is £20 per hour. Please request any of these after booking.
Booking policy Guests are required to pay a security deposit of £200 prior to their stay. This is fully refundable pending no damages or excess cleaning being required. This will be a pre-authorisation hold on the card taken at least 24 hours before you check in, and is automatically released within 3 days after check out.
Full payment is due 30 days before arrival and will be automatically charged to the card on file. If payment fails, it must be completed within 24 hours or the booking will be cancelled. Early payment is allowed; card fees up to 3 percent are non-refundable if cancelled.
Cancellation policy Full refund if cancelled 30 or more days before arrival. Fifty percent refund if cancelled fourteen to thirty days before arrival. No refund if cancelled within fourteen days of arrival.

• Up to 3 well-behaved dogs welcome; please include them on your booking. Dogs must not be left unattended, should be kept downstairs and off the furniture, and any mess cleared from the garden. • No parties or events. • No smoking anywhere inside the property, including e-cigarettes and vaping. Please smoke outside, away from the property, and dispose of any ends sensibly. • The hot tub and sauna are used entirely at your own risk. Please read and follow all safety instructions in full, supervise children at all times, and keep glass, food and drink away from both. Children under 8 must not use the sauna. • When using the open fire, keep the spark guard in place and never leave it unattended.
Maximum 4 guests; the listed capacity is the absolute limit and includes any visitors.
Please take care on the wooden floors and steps, particularly when wet, and treat the space with care, leaving it as you would hope to find it.

Kirsty was an excellent host - very communicative and responsive to all requests. The cottage setting is very rural and not to far from the coast. Unfortunately we had a storm - Storm Ingrid - so we didn't get to enjoy all the walks we had planned so instead made the most of the hot tub and sauna, even in the rain which is a great selling point. The cottage facilities worked well for us as a family of 4 and a Labrador who loved the garden and countryside smells. The parking is a little unusual as there is no driveway so instead you are advised to park on a lane. Traffic can still pass on the upper corner of the lane as it's situated on a triangle but on arrival the notes were conflicting in the welcome pack with the sign located by the front door. Kirsty advised this would be updated for new guests but it's worth knowing you do get quite a lot of farm vehicles passing as stated in the VRBO description of the property, but particularly in the morning. The cottage was clean on arrival, towels were provided for the hot tub and all the beds were super comfy. The toaster was a little tricky to use so we recommended a new one as well as adding a freezer as there was only an undercounter fridge with no freezer compartment in the main cottage. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, and despite Storm Ingrid making it a bit different to what we had planned, with the changes suggested above, we'd stay at Clotted Cream Cottage again.

À propos de l’hôte
Hôte : Kirsty
Hi, I'm Kirsty and have been hosting guests for many years in our much loved cottages in Devon. I live near Bath but have spent many a childhood summer down in the South Hams area and when I had kids of my own, I couldn't wait to take them there too. No matter how busy or stressful live seems to get, a night or two in the Devon countryside is a perfect reset. Dartmouth and the area surrounding it, is definitely my Happy Place!
I love hosting as it gives me the chance to share the joys of Devon with others.
Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
Having spent many childhood summer holidays in and around Torbay and the South Hams area, it holds a very special place in my heart. So much so, that when as an adult I came to look at a run down cottage that was on the market - I couldn't resist! That was 20 years ago and we have enjoyed many long beach days, sunsets and starry nights there since then.
The unique combination of gorgeous beaches and beautiful countryside make this area truly wonderful - no wonder its a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Blackpool Sands - arguably one of the most unique and beautiful beaches in South Devon is just over a mile away, with its crystal clear waters and wonderful vibe, its been pulling visitors from far and wide and yet is never crowded! If you're feeling adventurous, you can walk there from the cottage, take a dip, eat a gorgeous breakfast in the Venus Cafe and burn it off as you head back to the cottage :-).
Further along the coastline, there's Start Bay and Slapton Sands which are dog friendly, and Beesands too.
Walkers are able to access the South West Coast path which runs right past Blackpool Sands or take the car to the National Trust site of Little Dartmouth where you can walk round to Dartmouth Castle, taking in Sugary Cove along the way.
For family fun whatever the weather, Woodlands Theme Park is just a few minutes drive too - offering an action packed day out for kids of all ages.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
Clotted Cream Cottage is our cozy little haven, a place that we've lovingly restored and tamed over the years. It's got a charmingly rustic feel, so if you're expecting a high-tech, sterile, space-age pad, then you might want to keep looking. But if you're after a place to truly unwind and let loose, then you've hit the jackpot! Bring your four legged friends and kids back from the beach, sand between their toes and salt in their hair - no worries here! We're all about creating wholesome memories and having a blast!
Be forewarned, though - we're smack dab next to a working dairy farm, so don't be surprised if you catch a whiff of the great outdoors! And, sure, you might spot a spider or two - but hey, they're just part of the family!
The cottage garden has been expanded and is a lovely spot to let your little ones and furry friends run wild. Pitch a tent there for a real adventure or just have a ball playing games under the sun. Just keep in mind that it's not exactly Fort Knox, so if your pooch is a bit of a Houdini, you might need to keep an eye on them.
But the real star of the show is the hot tub in the garden. This little oasis is exclusively for our guests, so soak away under the stars and watch the swallows swoop and swirl around you. It's pure magic!
Although its just a couple of minutes from Dartmouth, Clotted Cream Cottage is a true escape. Wake to the sound of bird song and loose yourself in the peace and quiet. No matter how long you're able to stay, the cottage should recharge and restore you.
