Perfect Location

An easy walk into the old town with access to local transportation. Great view of the harbour. The ideal location for a couple.

Madeira debut

Great place to stay on our first visit..well located for most of Funchal’s attractions including the port, old town and teleferico. NB the area is hilly but so is Funchal as a whole!

Great apartment for self- sufficient living

We stayed three weeks and An Island Apart were absolutely brilliant at sorting out all the issues with the apartment so it ended up an excellent stay.

We stayed at this property in Funchal for 4 days. The pictures shown were accurate, and one of the first things we noticed was the incredible view from the fifth floor. The apartment was well-outfitted, with a small kitchen, and even had a washing machine which we did use. There was no AC (unless we missed it), and we did find a tiny salamander in the apartment on the first day. However these things did not bother us. The salamander kept to himself and was gone after the first day :) Overall a great value for an apartment in Funchal and we would return.

Excellent value stay in Funchal with a view

We stayed at this property in Funchal for 4 days. The pictures shown were accurate, and we loved the view from the fifth floor. The apartment was well-outfitted, with a small kitchen and a even a washing machine which we did use. There was no AC (unless it was there and we didn't see it), but that didn't bother us. We did find a small creature that resembled a salamander in the corner of the apartment on the first day, but this didn't bother us either. This little one must have come in from an open window perhaps with the last guest. We didn't see it again after the first day. Overall a great value apartment and we would return again.

Great location - not in such great condition

We did enjoy our stay but felt the property was not in the best condition that it could be. It is in a wonderful location to view the town, the harbour and the Fireworks! But we did not expect stains on the living room mat and the sofa and no cleaning service or cleaning products to do some cleaning ourselves during the month we spent in the apartment.. The shower leaked on to the bathroom floor and one electrical outlet was almost dangerous. The kitchen appliances are excellent. The staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful when we spoke to them and helpful and apologetic when we encountered a problem. I did receive a text saying that a noise complaint had been made and we should be quieter. As an elderly couple, we were rather surprised and thought a mistake must have been made so did not pursue the matter and heard nothing further. We stayed for Christmas and New Year, which we thoroughly enjoyed in Madeira.

Wir würden die Wohnung weiter empfehlen

Die Aussicht der Wohnung ist unschlagbar und wir haben diese sehr genossen von dem etwas kleinen Balkon. Die Wohnung war sehr sauber und hatte bis auf die Küchenausstattung alles, was wir brauchten. Der Sportplatz unterhalb hat uns nicht so gestört, obwohl dort gefühlt 24/7 Fussball gespielt wird. Richtig gestört hat uns das permanente Hundegebell beim Nachbarn, auch früh morgens um 5. Top Parkplatz, was in Funchal schon ein echter Mehrwert ist.

the best accommodation in Madeira is only in an apartment ALEGRIA I BY AN ISLAND APARTMENT

AMAZING AND UNFORGETTABLE OUTLOOK MORNING COFFEE ON THE BALCONY, PERFECTLY EQUIPPED APARTMENT INCLUDING THE KITCHEN, LIFT, PARKING IN THE COURTYARD, CLEANING DURING THE STAY, NEAR THE CENTER. WE HAVE BEEN IN FUNCHAL FOURTH TIMES, BUT THIS ACCOMMODATION HAS NO COMPETITION

Very good staying in Funchal

The apartment is excellent for two or three people, excellent view, very comfortable, very well equipped, excellent location in the heart of Funchal, 10min walk from the center of the city and of the historic part of the city. I strongly recommend it.

Nice 1 bedroom flat!

The experience overall during our stay, of 8 nights, at Alegria i was very pleasant: the space was very nice, super clean and comfortable. There was the housecleaning services in the middle of the stay which were very helpful as well! Location was perfect. Towards the end of our stay there were two cockroaches that appeared in the balcony of the flat - they must have come from the balcony, through a kind of water sewage there is there but we understand that this is not that unusual with the hot weather/proximity to the sea. In any case, the hosts offered to check for availabilities of other flats in case we would like to change.

Stay in Madeira

We spent a wonderfull holiday in Madeira. Our apartment "An Island Apart" was located near the historical part of Funchal and close to the supermarket. The building has a private parking! Alegria also prepared our transport from the airport, because we arrived late in night, and recommended perfect car rental. The best service!!!

Excellent stay.

The apartament is so good. Good location, fully equipped and cosy apartament. With pretty sea views. Very close to the town center. Just 10' on foot. To sum up, an excellent stay.
