Holly Cottage - Beautiful Country Cottage Sitting at the Foot of the Ochil Hills

A family friendly cottage for a relaxing and peaceful holiday. Holly Cottage has an open plan living area with the kitchen, dining and sitting room which all flow into one another. The living area has two large windows which look out onto the fields which are home to our Highland cows and sheep. The master bedroom with shower en-suite is located on the ground floor with views up to the Ochil Hills. The upstairs floor comprises of a main bathroom with bathtub and a triple bedroom. There is also a lovely wee nook at the top of the stairs where you can sit and read a book or just take in the views of the hills behind. You might even see a Roe deer.

Lovely cottage with everything we needed. Very clean and tidy with good parking. Stayed over Christmas and decorated with seasonal ornaments and lights. Easy to get to a number of key attractions and small towns. In addition Stirling is very nearby and lovely to wander round. Would definitely recommend.

The best vacation rental we have stayed in. It was close to Stirling and within walking distance to shops, parks, and hikes. We enjoyed the sheep and coos. So clean, comfortable and quiet.

Very well equipped cottage. Beautiful setting, peaceful and a great location. Stirling and The Wallace Monument close by. A good number of markets close by. Our host Laura was a gem, quick responses to questions.Lots of room and quite comfortable.

We had a really very nice stay. The cottage is very clean and equipped with everything you need. A big thank you for the welcome greeting from Laura. She was always available and communicative for any questions. The location is rural but very well situated for making excursions and going shopping. We would love to come back.

Just perfect

This place was a real delight. Comfortable, quiet, well appointed. Decent food and grocery options nearby, and quick access to Edinburg via the trains. The Scottish highlands literally start at the cottage's back door. We would definitely stay again.

Wonderful cottage in a perfect location

We loved our stay at Holly Cottage. The space was perfect for us (2 adults and 2 children) and the location was great. We loved sitting at the dining table and admiring the view of the Highland cows in the field. It was a great spot to easily get into Stirling and easy to get to Edinburgh (we took the train) and Glasgow. Laura was a fabulous host and gave some great recommendations for places to eat. We loved our stay so much we’ve already booked to stay again.

Perfect place for a group of friends! We came up for a wedding and had a wonderful stay! The place was extremely clean and cosy, comfy beds, blackout blinds and a fully equipped kitchen if you fancy cooking! The highland cows were a welcome bonus!! Highly recommend!

Perfect

The cottage was a perfect fit for our family. We had plenty of room for my wife, myself and our three daughters. The location was so perfect. We stayed for two weeks and never had to drive more than an hour to all our destinations. Laura had everything ready for us and is just up the road if we needed anything.

Better than excellent

This place is exceptional. Very clean, cute, roomy, comfortable. Nice little patio in front. She left milk, tea, coffee, and cookies. The location is very close to Stirling and a half hour from a park and ride to go into Edinburgh. Plus, there are stark hills in the back, Highland cattle in the front, lanes to walk on and beautiful views. One of our favorite rentals ever. We wish we would have stayed longer.

Stay at the Holly Cottage, Alva Scotland

As this was our first trip to Scotland my wife and I were uncertain what to expect from a rental property. We reviewed several properties online that were located in the general area we were planning to visit and selected the Holly Cottage near Alva based on the cottage description on VRBO and previous reviews given. I am very pleased to advise that the cottage was everything we were hoping for and we enjoyed our 8 night stay there very much. The description posted of the property was completely accurate and Host Laura was wonderful and did everything possible to insure we were comfortable and our needs were met. We highly recommend the Holly Cottage to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing vacation property in this beautiful area of Scotland.

My name is Laura and I stay on the family farm with my husband and kids. I run the cottages as well as helping out my husband with his hunting shop and looking after our brood of Labradors and Cocker Spaniels. Our daughter & son help out with everything too as being on a farm isn't just a job but a way of life. My Mum & Dad live on the farm too so there is plenty of us around should you require anything.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

The farm is a working arable farm which we took over in 1983. We have a small herd of Highland cows which you will be able to see grazing in the fields in front of the cottage. The family has lived in the Hillfoots for four generations and I feel lucky that my children have had plenty fresh air and freedom growing up in the countryside.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Living at the bottom of the Ochil Hills is fantastic as you can walk out your door and head up the hill for a hike. The views from the top are amazing and on a clear day you can see for miles. We are also well located for taking a trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh which are around 45/50 minutes drive. However its nice to come home from the city to a relaxing and peaceful wee cottage.
